There's some good Mcdonalds stuff like the 10th gen Accord/10th-11th gen Civics that I like but I do miss when Hondas were kinda sporty on top of everything else, now they're just high speed fuel efficient cruise missiles, which I guess is okay.

>google says new fuel pump
>had that done, same problem persists
>last thing it could be according to shit I've looked up on google is ignition coil + maybe spark plugs
>both will cost nearly as much as the other two replacements
be real with me, /o/, will this fix my shit or do I just need to start looking around? I'm using my mom's spare car right now but I'm getting really tired of this whole situation. I kind of have my eye on this 2012 Acura TSX with 140k miles but its 200 miles away from me so if I make the drive I'd have to buy it to justify it. Probably not the best car out there but its one I've had my eye on for a few years now so if I'm going to get a new one I'd rather get a car I actually want. But the same dealership has a 2008 Civic with 120k miles too so I could fall back on that too I guess if the Acura looks like a lemon. But I'd really like to get my car running properly right now considering, the way it is now, I doubt I would even be able to sell it off to help offset a new car.

I have never adjusted valves on my 2004 piece of shit and it still sounds fine at 180,000 miles, seems like a meme service unless your valvetrain is literally making ticking noises due to the valve lash being way off, but if it's idling quietly, you're in good shape.

I prefer the NSX as a brokie, but the thing clearly didn't have the clout of a Huracan (or the V10 noises) for 157 grand, and who knows what any dealer markups were going on in 2017 like the FK8 Civies, so you could've been paying 200 grand for an albeit based as fuck NSX that no one really cares about because it's not a Lamborghini.

NSX was their GT-R-like halo car Anon, it was 573HP turbo V6 and AWD just like a GT-R, I think the low sales had to do with the cost, we're talking $160,000 dollars for an exotic Jap car, when Nissan will sell you a 600HP NISNO GT-R for $18,000 more or $46,000 less for a regular GT-R with 565HP, which is hard to believe such a bargin existed looking back at it.

I went ahead and did the valves. I was at 206400 miles. Started it up the other morning and she was rattling pretty loud, but did quite down some when it got warm. No other issues other than noise
Not a bad job, all videos show removing cowl for better access to intake valves but I didnt. All exhaust valves measured out at .013 with the specs being .009--- .013.
Intakes were all over but they were all loose. Its a little more quiet at cold start, doesn't run a bit better. Will see if my gas milage gets better. Currently showing 36 mpg, use to get 38 to 40.

The new acura stuff is going back to double wishbone, so there may be some hope for the future. The CTR, prelude, and ITS all have the triple ball joint double wishbone/mac strut hybrid, but I doubt that's going to come down to normal cars. The new prelude just makes me sad, maybe it's just the unreasonable price point, I don't really even care that it's slow

>>28768062
It's because you appreciate how they don't need to cope, there is such an insane amount of trash on the roads even from new.

>>28769543
It makes for a pretty decent used market, leased cars have more eyes on them making sure the maintenance is done, usually with prepaid plans
>>
>>28776020
>The new acura stuff is going back to double wishbone
Yeah the TLX is a little hottie, but can you imagine a stripped down, cloth seat TLX with all the sweet driving dynamics and just sold as an Accord? That's basically what the 2003-2007 Accord was, it basically was a TL and why everybody loves it so.
>>
>>28776024
I had an 09 accord, it was technically similar to your definition but is was bigger, still about 300lb lighter than the TL. Really nice car, stick shift k24 sedan
>>
>>28776040
Based 09 Accord, that too was another one of these stripped down luxury cars, they were so damn good for being a decked out economy car, that the Acura brand was basically being cannibalized by the Accords even up until 2022 with the 2.0T Accord Touring, now things are returning to the 90s where the Accord is a nice car with pathetic horsepower, but if you want V6 power or a 2.0T, a double wishbone suspension, you're buying an Acura.
>>
>>28776044
I picked up a 2.0t 10 speed earlier this year, for sure it's one of the all-time best configured cars that exist. I would have gone for the manual, but I wanted to try the automatic for the extra speed and 4 overdrives. 85mph is 2000rpm lol, still has good cruising power there too
>>
>>28776059
>85mph is 2000rpm lol,
Good god that's a glorious cruiser, I know manualfags love it, but the 10AT is the correct transmission for the K20C engine for accelerating fast as possible and cruising at stupid low rpms, and here I was thinking my CM was the bee's knees for cruising at 2900 rpm to go 85, but now it's looking like a shitbox 90s Integra in comparison with the cruising revs.

Merry Christmas. Found this on market place. Top is a before image I found searching the VIN, bottom is an image they uploaded they did mention they rebuilt it by hand. 2016 Civic, has 135k miles, and they want 6800 for it. Is it worth it, should I low ball or should I continue my search? Thanks and Happy Honda Days.
>>
>>28780468
Man, I know the paint on the front looks kinda shitty, but if that damn thing drives nicely, buy it a nice driving 10th Gen Civic for 6800 is such a nicer car than a 2004 Honda Accord for like 5 grand with more miles and age.
>>

Newfag to /o/ here, how does this board feel about the Honda Element? Heavily considering getting one.
>>
>>28781058
If you're into an unusual "multi purpose vehicle" with a reliable K24 engine, you'll like it, but don't expect good fuel economy, it's shaped like a brick and has a 4 speed auto with a very short 4th gear that makes it rev quite high for going 65 mph, also be prepared to pay a good bit of money for it, these things their own fanclub, so good luck even finding an owner who is selling theirs.
>>
>>28780817
Even with the prior accident?

>>28781123
Hell yeah i like it for 6800 if it runs and drives nice, 135,000 miles isn't a lot and its a 10 year old car barely.

>>28780897
Metra is fine and does the job, I just wish they made the bezel pieces more sturdy. I don't know if it's the heat cycles while in storage or being crushed in transport but it's always a crapshoot you get a bezel that's slightly warped and doesn't sit flush in the dashboard.
>>
>>28781937
That's what a pre purchase inspection is for, isn't it?
>>
>>28783089
This, also you can't expect perfection and no accidents for $6800, otherwise a 10th gen Civic would go for $12,000-$13,000 that's what makes it a deal, I'd be losing my mind if I was told in 2016 that eventually you could get the "new Civic" for the equivalent of $5,000 in 2016 money 9 years later, and all it had was a front end accident repair and not an obscene amount of miles.
>>

I got some (front) passenger side damage last year and since I'm trying to learn to wrench, I want to fix it.

It's a creaking noise that happens when I turn right, usually at slower speeds. No vibration or pulling. 2006 Accord.

ChatGPT says it's either a:
Lower ball joint (front right) - most likely?
Lower control arm bushings - very likely?

I know I have to look myself but I have never really dealt with wrenching under the car, this is my entry to that.

I would actually guess shocks, but it's hard to tell. With a car that age, all your bushings and shock boots are shot, so you can maybe take some pictures for us and we can tell you what's reasonably actionable.

I have an 8th gen Si, ALL the bushings are shot and so are the shocks.

Did Honda ever fix this issues with the 1.5 Turbo?
I'm interested in a current gen SI, but not if the engine is going to shit itself in under 120,000 miles.
>>
>>28784292
Don't know, but please don't pay markup on a fucking Si.
>>
>>28784292
Supposedly it got fixed around 2019, but the reason why the L15B turbos get oil dilution is multiple short trips that don't allow the engine to warm up fully. It also helps to keep oil changes on a consistent schedule, typically 3-5k miles
>>
>>28784520
This, also L15B motors are way more sensitive about not being maintained compared to an old K24, you can go a good bit over on oil changes on an old K24, drive it a quart low because it's leaking and the thing did not give a fuck, but the L15B will clog up the little screen on the oil feed line and ruin the turbo, and then even if you're a good guy who does his oil changes, you've got the head gasket thing that blows whenever it feels like it, which means you better be a big money player with over $5,000 in reserve to fix your car should this happen if you're gonna drive a 1.5T
>>
>>28784549
So basically they haven't fixed it, and it's a bad idea to buy one.
>>
>>28784549
Why did they do the ecoboost thing when Ford already proved it was a bad idea?
>>
>>28784563
I wouldn't recommend it, maybe if the car is brand new and you're good about maintenance it could go a while, but the days of buying a cheap used K series Honda with average or less maintenance and having a reliable car for the next 10 years are gone, I try not to think how hard it's gonna be to buy a nice used L15B Honda when they're like 15 years old with miles on em.

>>28784565
Honda really fucked up with that similar block design, which is fucked up because the bottom end of an L15B is typical Honda, it's actually amazingly strong, issues aside, the L15B isn't known for getting rodknock like a subaru engine does where the bearings and everything just fall apart whenever it feels like it.
>>
>>28784133
I hate how cheap exhausts sound, but I also hate how most expensive performance exhausts sound too. I think I'm going with the Greddy, youtube videos are terrible for comparing exhausts.
>>
>>28784563
If you can afford it, just buy an FL5. The K20C1 is worth it.
>>
>>28780468
>6800 for a 10th gen Civic

>because the bottom end of an L15B is typical Honda, it's actually amazingly strong, issues aside
The crank is basically flawless, rods are decent if you don't have a 1.5t hatch, pistons are usual cast ones although there are some differences. The biggest weak point in the L15B is the oil pump especially when tuned/running a higher redline

Aftermarket motor mount probably wouldn't hurt anything covered by the OEM warranty, probably better if the engine is moving less, I take my Accord on the touge and it feels like the engine is doing a fucking backflip under the hood when I go back and forth between engine braking and hitting the gas.

long breaker bar, position it so you have room to force it in the needed direction, apply a bit of preload to it to take up any slack/play in the socket, then keep shoving the far end of it. don't apply constant force because that's how you round or snap the bolt

NTA but my 2021 was apparently owned by some Taiwanese guy (He left the bill of sale in the glove box). Intercooler charge pipes were held on by HVAC tape, intercooler its self had no support brackets. Plastic cracked all around. Bumper held on by zip ties and a suspension strut mount was snapped. Complete underside was plastic was damage as well as the front lip. Fog light was held on by one tapping screw

Next time I buy a tuner car its new because I got fucked with how expensive the car was still sold for.

Yeah that's the big reason I personally don't like enthusiast cars unless you can buy it stock, is the people who are drawn to it are shitheads, a regular car like a Honda Civic or Accord you can find well maintained its whole life and sold at such a great price without being hacked to shit.

Yeah, it's been an expensive lesson. I wanted to keep the type R stock so when I found one that was stock I ended up learning its just has hidden abuse.
I've spent like 4g's trying to either return it to stock or replace stuff with aftermarket out of necessity. Because I couldn't own the 25 year old car I wanted I figured buy one that I'll want in 25 years. Now im thinking with how fucked up it was I'm not sure it'll make it even with me taking care of it.

Pretty sure it was a covered up wreck because all damage was passenger side. There was more damage but I've gotten it to unnoticeable levels.

I tried to find leaks, but the only thing I see is what looks like oil or something wet around the entire valve cover. I refuse to believe it's a bad gasket, I changed them all not too long ago. There does however seem to be some sort of wetness near the crank pulley, I'm wondering if it could just be a leaky coolant plug. And on top of that I found wetness on top of the radiator and down below near the petcock. Man this car is frustrating, but I love it to bits. I've already spent way too much money on her :(

I just bought a euro spec 3rd gen 2011 CRV, 2.0 i-VTEC. There's a few odd things about it. When I turn the wheel fully to the left and move forward, there's this groaning sound. The steering is really stiff/dead near the center and doesn't fully return to center after a turn. Any bump on the road will make the car steer left right or left until I readjust the steering at a result. This model has electric power steering, I did a reset of the steering torque sensor which helped a little but did not fully solve the issue.
Finally there's this very faint rattling sound between 20 and 35mph in 2nd and 3rd gear, could it be the clutch? It was owned by a guy in his 80s.

I honestly think I got scammed. I paid 12k EUR for it which is apparently a good deal for a 50k miles CRV in my local clown market but these issues make me feel unsure. I will probably sell it in a few months.
>>
>>28800842
If it's only one side I'd guess it's NOT the power steering pump/elec steering.
Wheel bearing or CV joint would be my first guess.
Unless you're hard up for cash do both because if one's gone 95% the other is close behind.
