Switching from double wishbone to macdonalds was the beginning of the end for Honda
>>28748299There's some good Mcdonalds stuff like the 10th gen Accord/10th-11th gen Civics that I like but I do miss when Hondas were kinda sporty on top of everything else, now they're just high speed fuel efficient cruise missiles, which I guess is okay.

I'm using my mom's spare car right now but I'm getting really tired of this whole situation. I kind of have my eye on this 2012 Acura TSX with 140k miles but its 200 miles away from me so if I make the drive I'd have to buy it to justify it. Probably not the best car out there but its one I've had my eye on for a few years now so if I'm going to get a new one I'd rather get a car I actually want. But the same dealership has a 2008 Civic with 120k miles too so I could fall back on that too I guess if the Acura looks like a lemon. But I'd really like to get my car running properly right now considering, the way it is now, I doubt I would even be able to sell it off to help offset a new car.

The CTR, prelude, and ITS all have the triple ball joint double wishbone/mac strut hybrid, but I doubt that's going to come down to normal cars. The new prelude just makes me sad, maybe it's just the unreasonable price point, I don't really even care that it's slow>>28768062It's because you appreciate how they don't need to cope, there is such an insane amount of trash on the roads even from new. >>28769543It makes for a pretty decent used market, leased cars have more eyes on them making sure the maintenance is done, usually with prepaid plans
>>28776020>The new acura stuff is going back to double wishboneYeah the TLX is a little hottie, but can you imagine a stripped down, cloth seat TLX with all the sweet driving dynamics and just sold as an Accord? That's basically what the 2003-2007 Accord was, it basically was a TL and why everybody loves it so.
>>28776024I had an 09 accord, it was technically similar to your definition but is was bigger, still about 300lb lighter than the TL. Really nice car, stick shift k24 sedan
>>28776040Based 09 Accord, that too was another one of these stripped down luxury cars, they were so damn good for being a decked out economy car, that the Acura brand was basically being cannibalized by the Accords even up until 2022 with the 2.0T Accord Touring, now things are returning to the 90s where the Accord is a nice car with pathetic horsepower, but if you want V6 power or a 2.0T, a double wishbone suspension, you're buying an Acura.
>>28776044I picked up a 2.0t 10 speed earlier this year, for sure it's one of the all-time best configured cars that exist. I would have gone for the manual, but I wanted to try the automatic for the extra speed and 4 overdrives. 85mph is 2000rpm lol, still has good cruising power there too
>>28776059>85mph is 2000rpm lol,Good god that's a glorious cruiser, I know manualfags love it, but the 10AT is the correct transmission for the K20C engine for accelerating fast as possible and cruising at stupid low rpms, and here I was thinking my CM was the bee's knees for cruising at 2900 rpm to go 85, but now it's looking like a shitbox 90s Integra in comparison with the cruising revs.

Merry Christmas. Found this on market place. Top is a before image I found searching the VIN, bottom is an image they uploaded they did mention they rebuilt it by hand. 2016 Civic, has 135k miles, and they want 6800 for it. Is it worth it, should I low ball or should I continue my search? Thanks and Happy Honda Days.
>>28780468Man, I know the paint on the front looks kinda shitty, but if that damn thing drives nicely, buy it a nice driving 10th Gen Civic for 6800 is such a nicer car than a 2004 Honda Accord for like 5 grand with more miles and age.
Need a double din kit for an integra, are my options these days still only metra?
>>28780833Metra's based as shit, probably still cheaper than the CM Accords $249 kit because the car is so stupid.
>>28748217Newfag to /o/ here, how does this board feel about the Honda Element? Heavily considering getting one.
>>28781058If you're into an unusual "multi purpose vehicle" with a reliable K24 engine, you'll like it, but don't expect good fuel economy, it's shaped like a brick and has a 4 speed auto with a very short 4th gear that makes it rev quite high for going 65 mph, also be prepared to pay a good bit of money for it, these things their own fanclub, so good luck even finding an owner who is selling theirs.
>>28780817Even with the prior accident?
>>28781123Hell yeah i like it for 6800 if it runs and drives nice, 135,000 miles isn't a lot and its a 10 year old car barely.

>>28781539Don't worry anon, you will find something nice to drive.

>>28780897Metra is fine and does the job, I just wish they made the bezel pieces more sturdy. I don't know if it's the heat cycles while in storage or being crushed in transport but it's always a crapshoot you get a bezel that's slightly warped and doesn't sit flush in the dashboard.
>>28781937That's what a pre purchase inspection is for, isn't it?
>>28783089This, also you can't expect perfection and no accidents for $6800, otherwise a 10th gen Civic would go for $12,000-$13,000 that's what makes it a deal, I'd be losing my mind if I was told in 2016 that eventually you could get the "new Civic" for the equivalent of $5,000 in 2016 money 9 years later, and all it had was a front end accident repair and not an obscene amount of miles.
Honda really doesn't sell any windshield wiper linkage bushings? Fuck buying a whole new transmission for that shit
>>28783141They should, I was able to get windshield wiper linkage rods for the old ass CM Accord when the wipers were slamming all over the place.
Looking at exhausts for a 94 b18 integra and I'm specifically looking for a deep throaty tone. I boiled it down to the Greddy Supreme SP and the Revel Medallion Street Plus. I've had good experiences with medallion on a b20 del sol but I used to have a 6th gen Celica with a greddy and it was so good its the unicorn I've been chasing with Hondas since. What should I do?
I got some (front) passenger side damage last year and since I'm trying to learn to wrench, I want to fix it.It's a creaking noise that happens when I turn right, usually at slower speeds. No vibration or pulling. 2006 Accord.ChatGPT says it's either a:Lower ball joint (front right) - most likely?Lower control arm bushings - very likely?I know I have to look myself but I have never really dealt with wrenching under the car, this is my entry to that.
>>28784090Jack up carjackstand(s)wheel offinspect outer and inner axle bootsinspect shock bootinspect bushings---I would actually guess shocks, but it's hard to tell. With a car that age, all your bushings and shock boots are shot, so you can maybe take some pictures for us and we can tell you what's reasonably actionable.I have an 8th gen Si, ALL the bushings are shot and so are the shocks.
>>28783389Had a 1994 Integra, but some cheapo ebay exhaust, never regretted it once. Headers didn't fit though, so I kept stock exhaust headers and new all the way down. Had to cut all the bolts. Car fell apart before the exhaust did. I am: >>28783389
Did Honda ever fix this issues with the 1.5 Turbo?I'm interested in a current gen SI, but not if the engine is going to shit itself in under 120,000 miles.
>>28784292Don't know, but please don't pay markup on a fucking Si.
>>28784292Supposedly it got fixed around 2019, but the reason why the L15B turbos get oil dilution is multiple short trips that don't allow the engine to warm up fully. It also helps to keep oil changes on a consistent schedule, typically 3-5k miles
>>28784520This, also L15B motors are way more sensitive about not being maintained compared to an old K24, you can go a good bit over on oil changes on an old K24, drive it a quart low because it's leaking and the thing did not give a fuck, but the L15B will clog up the little screen on the oil feed line and ruin the turbo, and then even if you're a good guy who does his oil changes, you've got the head gasket thing that blows whenever it feels like it, which means you better be a big money player with over $5,000 in reserve to fix your car should this happen if you're gonna drive a 1.5T
>>28784549So basically they haven't fixed it, and it's a bad idea to buy one.
>>28784549Why did they do the ecoboost thing when Ford already proved it was a bad idea?
>>28784563I wouldn't recommend it, maybe if the car is brand new and you're good about maintenance it could go a while, but the days of buying a cheap used K series Honda with average or less maintenance and having a reliable car for the next 10 years are gone, I try not to think how hard it's gonna be to buy a nice used L15B Honda when they're like 15 years old with miles on em.>>28784565Honda really fucked up with that similar block design, which is fucked up because the bottom end of an L15B is typical Honda, it's actually amazingly strong, issues aside, the L15B isn't known for getting rodknock like a subaru engine does where the bearings and everything just fall apart whenever it feels like it.
>>28784133I hate how cheap exhausts sound, but I also hate how most expensive performance exhausts sound too. I think I'm going with the Greddy, youtube videos are terrible for comparing exhausts.
>>28784563If you can afford it, just buy an FL5. The K20C1 is worth it.
>>28780468>6800 for a 10th gen CivicThat's too damn cheap. I feel old.Is the title good? Does it drive good? Because it's got an A+ paint job on it for a rebuild. If the suspension isnt bent that's a winner.
>>28784571>because the bottom end of an L15B is typical Honda, it's actually amazingly strong, issues asideThe crank is basically flawless, rods are decent if you don't have a 1.5t hatch, pistons are usual cast ones although there are some differences. The biggest weak point in the L15B is the oil pump especially when tuned/running a higher redline

>>28785319Aftermarket motor mount probably wouldn't hurt anything covered by the OEM warranty, probably better if the engine is moving less, I take my Accord on the touge and it feels like the engine is doing a fucking backflip under the hood when I go back and forth between engine braking and hitting the gas.
>>28785323maybe Ill check in with the dealership before doing it. Sucks that shipping the part from the US to Europe basically doubles the price

>>28792543>Next time I buy a tuner car its newYeah that's the big reason I personally don't like enthusiast cars unless you can buy it stock, is the people who are drawn to it are shitheads, a regular car like a Honda Civic or Accord you can find well maintained its whole life and sold at such a great price without being hacked to shit.
>>28792549Yeah, it's been an expensive lesson. I wanted to keep the type R stock so when I found one that was stock I ended up learning its just has hidden abuse.I've spent like 4g's trying to either return it to stock or replace stuff with aftermarket out of necessity. Because I couldn't own the 25 year old car I wanted I figured buy one that I'll want in 25 years. Now im thinking with how fucked up it was I'm not sure it'll make it even with me taking care of it.Pretty sure it was a covered up wreck because all damage was passenger side. There was more damage but I've gotten it to unnoticeable levels.
>>28792561For what it's worth, the car looks nice Anon, just keep taking care of it and you will probably have collector value.
>>28791963san francisco? this is in japan bud
>>28792567It's my daily so I don't think it accrue too much value but it does pass the 5ft test fortunately. I appreciate it
>>28792580Shingo still hasn't mastered the Gutter Hook™ technique.
I have a Honda Stepwagon 2010 import. It's me who is driving my first car.
>>28792810>master1200laugh at this nigga
Damn, CMs are kinda cute
>>28792941You really think so?
>>28792997>$2k now in savingsThis is torture. There are a number of Hondas I would like to get to replace my 7th gen Civic but I can’t decide what.>get another CMIt’s not that simple! What if I decide I wanted to get a 6-speed CS2?
>>28792997Fuck yeah its cute as a button and those huge sidewalls are super tough
>>28793005Thay would be pretty got, that and the 6 speed CM
Old pic of when I got my '91 STD 4-spd stuck on a snow bank at the grocery store - except it wasn't snow. It turned to ice. Dad pulled it off with the truck. Took no effort to move it.
>>28793424Guy in my neighborhood had a teal LS swapped SI who always drove like a complete retard. He took a corner too hot and slid into a snow bank, spent about 10 minutes trying to get free and popped his engine. Good times.
ef 4 lyfe
New milestone get!
>>28795974Wouldnt have it any other way
>>28795995God I wish I had 76,500 miles
I think my vtec D17 has a blown head gasket, aint no way the overflow goes down that fast on its own.
>>28796381I would have it looked at for leaks, but if there's no coolant puddle underneath, it could be head gasket, I had a D17 neighbor who would often have his hood up adding coolant because it was eating it.
Car:/Car, Japan:)
>>28796385Big under steering shitbox:/Big under steering shitbox, Marysville OH:D
>>28796384I tried to find leaks, but the only thing I see is what looks like oil or something wet around the entire valve cover. I refuse to believe it's a bad gasket, I changed them all not too long ago. There does however seem to be some sort of wetness near the crank pulley, I'm wondering if it could just be a leaky coolant plug. And on top of that I found wetness on top of the radiator and down below near the petcock. Man this car is frustrating, but I love it to bits. I've already spent way too much money on her :(
>>28796395>I found wetness on top of the radiator and down below near the petcockI don't know how original your car is but it could finally be leaking at the radiator end tanks , would be worth it to pay a diag before writing the car off.
>>28798297I really hope that a K20C4/6MT or 10AT version is coming. The new Prelude is neat but it being hybrid-only is a bit of a deal breaker
An old person my family knows is going into assisted living and I have the option to buy their 2016 Honda CR-V with 20k miles, perfect maintenance, and garage kept for well under market value. I'm not particularly into crossovers, but it's a very competent car and is an upgrade over my shitbox. Will I regret not buying it? I suppose I can sell it and not lose anything if I decide I don't want it.
>>28798424Get it Anon, even if you flip it you win, it's a low mileage CR-V, every motherfucker and his bitch wife wants one
>2000 hondie civie>lightbulbs are old >install new LED's since all card on the road have them>great I can see everything now!>inspection today>this car can't have LED's, only halogen/xenon I fucking hate the EU and the infinite foid bureaucrats they got in there making all these retarded ass laws. >guy at the facility was awesome and let me comeback later with halogen>passed the inspectionnevermind the halogen bulbs were weak af and you can't see fuck all at night, but hey, at least it's period correct!!!!
Should I be worried if my title hasn't arrived in the mail after a week from registering at the MVD? I can't relax cause I think motherfuckers snatched it while I was at work and I have zero tracking or communication.
>>28798378Same, at the very least it should've been a very sporty little 1.5T car, the touge bois in my canyons drive fast as shit with 1.5T Civics, would've been cool to have a slow, but sporty as shit coupe to race around with.
>>28799561As a 1.5T Civic owner, yea it doesn't take much to get them handling well. FK8 rear bar + Accord end links, sticky tires, and new pads/brake fluid help a lot.
>>2879967611th gen civics are so cool they keep me hopeful for the future as far as where I can go for used good reliable car if I have to get one
I just bought a euro spec 3rd gen 2011 CRV, 2.0 i-VTEC. There's a few odd things about it. When I turn the wheel fully to the left and move forward, there's this groaning sound. The steering is really stiff/dead near the center and doesn't fully return to center after a turn. Any bump on the road will make the car steer left right or left until I readjust the steering at a result. This model has electric power steering, I did a reset of the steering torque sensor which helped a little but did not fully solve the issue. Finally there's this very faint rattling sound between 20 and 35mph in 2nd and 3rd gear, could it be the clutch? It was owned by a guy in his 80s.I honestly think I got scammed. I paid 12k EUR for it which is apparently a good deal for a 50k miles CRV in my local clown market but these issues make me feel unsure. I will probably sell it in a few months.
>>28800842If it's only one side I'd guess it's NOT the power steering pump/elec steering.Wheel bearing or CV joint would be my first guess.Unless you're hard up for cash do both because if one's gone 95% the other is close behind.
Rejoice!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yQp4YVdQUg
interested to see how much this effects the car
>>28801469It's a noticeable change, especially from a dead stop. Have had one in my FK7 for the past ~2 years as a replacement for the 27Won street RMM
Can anyone with a type R redpill me on the 2nd gear grind issue and the maint routine of the FL5? Is it really the usual>Oil & filter>Pads>Air filter>Spark plugs etc. Also what is the turbo longetivity? I read the fl5 has 25 psi of boost, thats quite high.Currently daily a ND2 Miata and looking for something bigger to also transport my bicycle and other shit in. It's a tossup between the GR Yaris and the FL5. Thanks to my country's retarded co2 emissions tax laws a new FL5/GR Yaris will cost 95k euros. So I wont be buying any of these new but second hand when they are closing in on the 40k price range in a year or so.
>high pressure PS line blew out on CM>get it fixed>exhaust manifold still covered in PS fluid so it's smoking>throws code for P0420>beat the shit out of CM hoping to burn this shit off>it goes awayI guess the evaporating oil had a cooling effect on the CM's precat and it freaks out when the engine is hot but the cat isn't hot enough to work fully, so I guess this is a thing that can happen if power steering fluid squirts on the exhaust, but that scared me for a sec.
>>28750377yes, and fuel consumptionthere's a decent app for this called Car Report too, if you want to do it in your phone. i do both
>>288026352nd gear grind problem is embellished. I've had an FK8 and FL5, neither had an issue. Its people who try to slam 1>2 every single time that scream about it.
>>28805293Thanks for answering. Do you have any advice/things to know? Also do you recommend going 18 inch wheels over the 19 inch stock ones to reduce tire costs? I heard they burn through tires.
