Abarth 500's are fun and silly to own. Those that hate them are 0 IQ HP/Torque tryhards
>>
>>28753461
would much rather have a bmw mini than this ugly piece of shit
>>
>>28753461
They're deceptively heavy aren't they?
>>
>>28753471
865-1149kg
>>
My dad has a 2013. They are gay little eggs bro
>>
>>28753466
>buying a mini
>one of the most obnoxious vehicles to work
>a company that likes to provide shitty engine internals so you can keep going to euro/bri'ish specific shops and waste money
>but you dont care because "mUh GeRmAn EnGinErInG"

I hated my 2010 mini and I wash i wasn't suckered into it.
>>
>>28753498
>Dad
>Gay little egg
Surely anon, your dad taking you to school is less gay than being a bus rider.
>>

I'm sure that the smaller, italian car is much more reliable and easier to work on

The old mini had a French engine and it was notoriously bollocks. They got more reliable I think after 2013/14. However the difference while being probably more reliable than the Fiat 500, you're paying BMW prices. Where the Fiat 500 you pay an italian chef to patch it with freshly made pasta before you let it bake in the sun.
>>
dont think anybody hates them
>>
>>28753461
Now that kei cars are coming to the US I can't imagine how stupid people must feel having spent almost 70 grand on one of these pieces of shit made by street shitting sand niggers
>>
>>28753515
The 1.4 Multiair is probably the most reliable thing they make, funnily enough.
>>
>>28753461
When I have to drive my wife's 60hp base model it's fun and chuckable, with a 180+hp turbo it would be hilarious.
>>
>>28753461
Small Fiats are wonderful things, they live fast and die quickly.
I am happy with that.

When you drive one of these:
>Mini
>Fiat 500
>Cox
You look like a fucking faggot
Even more in cab

>t. Retard who have to drive her wife second car when my car was unavailable
>>
>>28753987
I was walking down the street one time when I heard to most brutal sounding exhaust note until turning my head to see this fuckass abarth 500. It was the funniest thing ever. It almost made me consider buying one
>>
>>28753461
Driven one for a out 5 minutes. It was the worst car I've ever been behind the wheel of.
>>
>>28753982
I've wondered if the reliability on these would be tolerable since they have a manual transmission.
Abarth has almost no market presence here in the US but I would love to see more of these zip around.
>>
>>28754051
The Beetle is supremely cute though
>>
>>28753475
Yeah, that is bad considering they only make like 130HP
>>
>>28754533
They were available with up to 180hp. That's roughly 100hp/ton which isn't too bad. Top speed of 127 which I bet feels sketchy as fuck in a car that size.
>>
>>28754541
>believing italian spec sheets ever
lol
lmao
>>
>>28754556
Even if you assume they're inflating the numbers by 30hp, 150hp in a tiny city car isn't nothing
>>
>>28754394
From everything I've heard, they're not too bad. The engine itself is pretty stout, especially if you get one from after the 2012 revision.
You'll probably run into some electrical gremlins because >Italian electronics, and maybe you'll have to get the electro-hydraulic valve actuator unit replaced, but that seems to be about it.
>>
>>28754567
roflmao absolute state of yuropeons
>>
>>28754690
You have no clue what you're talking about.
>>
>>28754567
130hp in a tiny city car was hectic as f* when the French were pushing that number.
Some considered it undrivably powerful.
I have about 150 in Mr Sensible and the front now just tucks in and pulls you around the corner.
>>
>>28754567
>>28755353
That's what a fucking Neon made 20 years ago while weighing less btw. That IS literally nothing. You people are embarrassing.
>>
>>28755354
Do you have corners?
>>
>>28755354
15 inch longer wheelbase means it'll feel far more composed
neons actually weigh 200-300kg more for comparable trims
and the top end abarth actually makes 180hp
>>
>>28753461
I don't hate them, I just never think about them. Doing performance mods to one automatically makes you a faggot though
>>
>>28755354
20 years ago is 20 years after 130 was silly.
It has to be well past your bed time.

Yes plenty. It's harder to find a straight stretch of road. The Neons had a reputation for hurting feelings on the track back in the day.

>>28755358
They're both 2500lbs so stop coping. At the hop end the Neon makes 250hp sooo. You people should stick to pasta and wine.
>>
>>28755371
i dont actually own one or care about the benchracing shit
i just said 180 hp in a car that small is probably fun

These are hectic little town cars.
Americans consider eighteen foot long cars as town cars.
Their towns are wider because they didn't Medieval.
>>
Those madlads in Italy are pushing 350+hp in these things with just a stock block and I bet you its probably scary as fuck when you floor it. Better to drive a slow car fast than drive a fast car slow
>>
>>28755455
Literally nobody is pushing 350+HP on this piece of shit. The tranny is know to 41% with just a tune. You will find a few retards claiming 250+ but you'll never see them giving it the beans.

There's some guy here that has a MINT 2000s beetle with whitewalls and dog dishes, looks both hilarious and kind of cool
>>
>>28755351
no, hes correct. the multiair unit is really the only thing to break and its usually because people are retarded and run the wrong oil or never change it. Its crucial on these cars to always keep the oil fresh and clean. other than that its going to be normal wear and tear.the turbos are also hit or miss. mine was throwing a bit of oil into the intake at around 25k miles and I kept driving it until about 50k before swapping it
>>
>>28753461
they look so gay but sound so good and are fun to drive. peak torque by 3k. intake exhaust and a flash they start to get pretty spicy

I'd like to see that. Personally I think the second gen new beetle does a better job of nailing that modern retro thing. The 2000s one has too many circles vs the compound curves of the og and A5
>>
>>28753461
I don't hate them, they're just a college girl's car and not for me.

So im guessing your mother's hand-me-down left you stuck with one?
>>
>>28753515
every mini ever burns the valves
>>
>>28755506
300 whp and something like 375wtq is around the limit before you need internals and better trans. there are a bunch out there running at the limit. In the usa its a custom machined turbo just slightly larger in size.intake, exhaust, intercooler and a ecu flash on 93octane or E85 for bonus power.. everywhere else in the world for some reason they slap a td04 on it and have huge lag in the low end.
>>
>>28754394
Everything on those cars is fantastic except the window regulators, which are so bad that a lot of others will 3d print spares. Expect to make at least 180hp out of the engine if you swap the turbo, but one of my friends put way too much money into his and it's hitting 250hp to the wheels

I owned a 2017, put over 100,000 miles on it with zero issue. I had a car full of drunk teenagers run their light and t bone me, walked away with zero injuries. It was a good car and tons of fun. The exhaust note is intoxicating.

The miata's acceleration is like a whole 1.5 seconds slower than an abarth's 190 horses. Of course real miata-fags know this because they get gaped by pretty much EVERYBODY.
>>
>>28757386
yup, you sometimes get a nasty single pop on shifts too. its glorious
>>

none of that has anything to do with how it runs or reliability. those are called quirks son.

Would I stick that engine into an older Fiat body that I actually like? Absolutely
