DRL have cause horrible consequences to all of humanitythat and always lit gauges>retards driving without their headlights because DRLs are super bright>DRL so bright they have to turn off when the turn signal is used>even with DLR and Auto lights, morons still somehow find a way to drive with their headlights off at night due to gauge always being lit>US cars using the incorrect icon for headlights>many modern cars wont allow you to drive without headlights even if you turn then ((((off))))
Fuck LEDs and fuck the Audi R8 and VAG
>>28759713>that and always lit gauges>retards driving without their headlights because DRLs are super brightI live where there's a shitload of tourists and see this literally every single time I drive after the sun goes down. Lit gauges, and subsequently bright, digital dashboards have been horrible for this.>many modern cars wont allow you to drive without headlights even if you turn then ((((off))))GM and Toyota have been guilty of this for 30 years at least now. On some Toyotas there's a fuse of some sort to pull to disable DRLs, and on some GMs you either have to toggle it every time the car starts, or do something wacky like push the dome light a certain amount of times to disable it.The icons for headlights don't exactly help, either. If you exclusively only drive brand new cars you likely know about that little green icon, but if you're only used to driving something older then you have no idea - especially if the DRLs are lighting the ground more than halogen headlights did, and especially if the dashboard is beaming at full brightness.

>>28759713I'd like it if cars had a low beam light on the dash like the high beam indicator. On a Buick Lucerne the always on dash lights dim to the selected brightness when it autos from drls to low beams but it's hard to tell.
>>28759728>Toyota have been guilty of thismy 2018 camry's headlight stalk only has>headlights on>parking lights on>autoget a bit annoyed when i drive under a narrow/short bridge in broad daylight and it flicks the lights on
In the era of LED everything why don't all marker and tail lights just stay on whenever the engine is running? I never got the point or DRL's but not daytime running markers and tail lights.
>>28759713you can say "drive lights," it's ok.
>>28759818Daytime running lights are not the same as driving lights.
>>28759816Fuck off bikefag
>>28759816LED headlights dont live forever, especially when powered on and even more so on a 35°c day of summmer. Its not in the owners interest to wear them out in two yers
>broad daylight out>you "need" lights on for some reason>it's totally not designed to drain the battery, make the alternator work more, and make you buy more bulbs or anythingWhat is the purpose of this invention?
>>28761010It helps, I get way less people not seeing me now that I just ride around with my low beams on, also stupid fucking Honda has a feature in the power management on my car where when the engine is at full operating temp in gear where the alternator will not charge in order to save fuel, I only noticed this because autism and my Windows seemed to roll down at 12.6v speed, but I can force the alternator to always max output and charge the batt by just turning on the low beams, the windows roll down at the speed of a running car that's outputting 14.3v.
>>28761010>What is the purpose of this invention?to make cars visible duh>broad daylight outdo trees not exist in your wasteland shithole? Its the interplay of sun light and long shadows
>>28761022>>28761020If you can't see a vehicle during the day you should legally be blocked from owning and operating any automobile. Barring a fucking eclipse or severe thunderstorm at bare minimum, it is not ever dark enough during the day to require lights for a big ass vehicle to be visible. Sharing the road with blind cunts is the real safety risk.

>>28761041>but what about this weather condition I didn't disclose haha I guess you're a larperGetting real tired of this site being full of 12 year olds whose raison d'etre is fabricating scenarios where they score "owns". Hey guess what? Super thick fog is one of those weather events you turn your actual headlights on for, not running lights.
>>28761058>Super thick fog is one of those weather events you turn your actual headlights on forkek as if. Because its an afront to your freedom and shit, also the fog stealing power from your battery, wearing out your alternator (lmfao) and make you buy more bulbs.>Getting real tired of this site being full of 12 year oldsyour one of them too apparently
>>28761020such a strange quirk, i wonder if i will ever see a honda blinking it's "eyes" out on the road because of this. i feel like how the struggle of old cars is learning how to adapt to mechanical systems, like lack of power steering/abs, the struggle of new cars is about learning the complex system of all it's numerous nannies set in place.
>>28761041YOU DONT UNDRSTAND, I NEEEED THE GOVERNMENT TO TELL ME WHEN TO TURN ON THE LIGHTS BECUSE IM TOO STUPID TO DO ITMYSELF!
>>28760976So don't use the headlights as DRL's have a dedicated set of DRL's like cars have been doing for ever. Using your main headlights as DRL's has been one of mankind's dumbest ideas.
>>28761186What cavemen brand even does that
>>28759713I honestly think we should have cars sold with a RETARD/Somali mode turned on by default that basically forces you to have your lights on, seatbelts on, doesnt let you mess with the infotainment while driving, and doesnt drive if the odor in the car gets too bad. There would be a secret hidden option in the settings that only appears with a special button combination mentioned in the manual and a custom code based on the VIN that is mentioned in the VIN. You answer 3 questions about the car like tire pressure, how many cylinders your engine has, and are you a US citizen. You sign a digital waiver of liability. Upon completion it disables all gay nanny stuff and allows you complete control of the car permanently (Disable seatbelt alarms, start stop, lets you play netflix on infotainment while driving, etc).
>>28761028It's more for pedestrians
>>28761067>trolling retard>>28761541Maybe we should force everyone to wear padded helmets and "ai powered" warning devices because there's a chance of some social media addict staring at their phone and walking in front of cars they would magically be able to see, even in broad daylight, if only a light were pointlessly forced to be on.
