Is this a good car for a single guy? My Civic is on its last legs. Looking at the 2025 Select Sport. I've never had a crossover but it seems more comfortable and easier to drive than a sedan.

Look at a ford Maverick hybrid instead
>>
I have a 2022 version.

Pros:
- Front seats and driver's position are good, interior design is great with a lot of thought for the little things (big door bins, comfortably cushioned elbow rests, good layout for all the buttons)
- No touchscreen, all physical controls, and the buttons on the wheel are well thought out
- Good engine size relative to car size. Also no hybrid nonsense, or it's there but in name only.
- Bigger boot than you'd think for a small car
- You can turn off all safety beeps, unfortunately you cannoy turn off certain safety features completely but you can make them less obtrusive (emergency brake to avoid a collision is the one i would personally like to turn off)

Cons:
- Back seats pretty tight, if you're carrying around women or children it's fine, but a 6ft dude won't be comfortable in there
- Car won't let you turn off the headlights at night. I mean, not sure why you'd want to but it does irk me that you can't do it
- Wipers at max speed feel a bit weird, not really a problem but i've definitely seen better, smoother motors

Please note: the one I have is made in Japan. Can't vouch for the mexican ones.

Depending on the state of your Civic, it might make more sense to fix up your current car than to get into a car payment. Assuming there isn’t serious structural issues or rust, I’d probably pony up the money to get whatever fixed or sorted. Spending ~$1500 to get the engine/trans or whatever fixed beats being in a $400-500 monthly payment for 4-5 years. What is wrong with the car, anon?

I got mine used for about 20k and I believe it's the trim under that, so 26 might be about right.

Happy with it so far, haven't had any issues. MPG could be better but I'd rather have the bigger engine than better mileage because I often have to haul stuff around and the car is filled to the brim so a dinky engine would be annoying.

I do a lot of traveling and hiring cars for work and have driven about 15 different cars this year and to be honest, in terms of interiors and the general feel of the car, the only thing that I thought was definitely better of what I drove is a Mercedes GLC, which is 3 times the price. Just my two cents

if you need cargo space get a wagon/estate, roomier and better to drive
crossovers are driven by women and old people
>>
>>28762408
i don't give a fuck. i just want a car that's comfy and small. crossovers are good at everything which is ideal for me since it's my only car.
>>
>>28761451
>I've never had a crossover but it seems more comfortable and easier to drive than a sedan.
It's a lifted Mazda3, already the harder-handling and less comfortable of it's peers (Civic/Corolla) especially with it's econobox torsion-beam rear suspension and suspension with spring rates tuned to what Americans think is "sporty" (stiff on roads and entirely useless off road unless you want to break your back). Don't even get me started on the plastic illusion of ground clearance.
It's not really a good choice for anyone except the type of roastie that thinks it's somehow going to be so much safer than a Mazda3 hatchback.
Just get another Civic or take the plunge on a late model, much cooler car of your choosing. Life's too short to drive shitbox appliances everywhere. I'll concede "crossovers" can be comfortable - but larger, relatively capable ones typically with air suspension such as the Range Rover, Cayenne, GLS, X5/X7 etc. It's got to at least have a longitudinally mounted engine to be viable. On the cheaper end, full-framed SUVs like the 4Runner, Tahoe, Armada and so on inherently offer comfort due to their more solid construction.
>but those are more expensive/worse on gas!
Used cars do exist, or buy the class of car you actually need. Hell, if you're bent on a CUV just get a B48 or B58 powered BMW X3 or X5 from the late '10s and up, I bet it'll be even more reliable than the Mazda believe it or not, be cheaper if not the same price (assuming 40-60k miles max), and it'll handle and feel like what the Mazda cuckovers are attempting to emulate while still having some semblance of being enjoyable to drive instead of being soul-draining.

Crossovers are just barley bigger than sedans.

Crossovers aren't really good at anything though. They're less roomy than the exterior suggest, crappy off-road performance, poor driving dynamics.

>>
>>28762494
nothing will remind you that your crossover is just a normal car faster than taking it down a rough road
especially if you're still on whatever rubberband tires they give you from factory
>>
>>28761451
Are you a boring person who only wants to drive from point A to get to point B?

Cars can be heavenly fun. If you've never driven a great handling car you might not really know just how big a difference there is between "it's not offensive" with, "it's sublime." Automakers generally target inoffensive handling to appeal to women, and a crossover is just too tall to have great handling.

The automakers get you to gravitate towards crossovers/SUVs because "taller" makes you think "I'm getting more car," when what you want is LESS car. Smol, light, and low are the ingredients for fun. A single guy should not be driving a boring car.
>>
>>28762515
in any event you should be replacing your tires with all terrains if you intent to tackle rough terrain

>A single guy should not be driving a boring car

I don't understand how someone can possibly not care about things that are fun or enjoyable; being content with being mediocre, boring, apathetic, and unoriginal. You seeming proud to be self admittedly boring is completely beyond my comprehension. I mean, what do you even want to do with your life?

I'm getting ahead of myself, arguing about this is stupid. It seems that you have made up your mind on vehicle choice. A bland, drab, unremarkable cr*ssover seems perfectly fitting. If you really want to be devoid of all personality, you can get a rav4 or a lexus RX.

Anyone recommending worst korean cars over japanese is a shill or a sucker. Meanwhile, I bought muh waifu to check out a couple of cars. I ask her: which one of these do you like? She carefully looked at each, then affirmed the best choice: the Mazda CX-5; her friend owned one, then traded it in for a CX-70, and now drives a Mazda CX-90 (they have kids), her mechanic husband approves of Mazdas.

I'll be buying before the weekend.
