How long are you guys usually out for? I've done nine weeks before but I typically stick to 4-5 weeks at a time. I don't think I could hack it more than two months out in one go personally.

Also, glad hand air hoses are a scam, since they do not come with a tire valve that locks onto the valve stem, and you need to be in the truck with your foot on the throttle to make sure enough air gets through.

Even Microsoft thinks trucking is one of the least likely jobs to be replaced by AI and the self driving trucks that are on the road in the US only operate in clear weather conditions, can't do first and last mile portions of the trip, can't dock, can't drop the trailer because they can't drop the landing gear, and even though they're at the point that on the highway they don't have to have a driver in the seat they still have to have a driver in the truck to take over for last mile and do the first mile to get it on the highway as well as fuel and pre, during, and post trip inspect it in accordance with the law. That driver also has to know how to troubleshoot the system to some degree if/when it fucks up. There will come a time when computers and AI are good enough to do trucking and the infrastructure is built out for them to do it, that time is most likely going to be towards the end of my career, I give zero fucks about AI trucks.

What companies are hiring new drivers with no experience or recent work history? I’ve got no restrictions, every endorsement a TWIC card, and a spotless record. I can pass a hair/urine test, and I have everything I need equipment wise. I can be ready to leave within a day. I’m otherwise broke, and have been trying to get out of poverty for a while now.

I'm legit curious about the differences between trucking in the EU vs the US. I've been trying to bait you guys to talk about it but you're not taking it. I know you drive more overall over there but I imagine the actual driving is 10x easier because the roads are huge in America and you prolly have parking lots everywhere.This is the European schedule:>9 hours of driving a day, 10 hours 2x a week>4:30 hours max continuous driving followed by 45 minute break>11 hours big daily break, can be reduced to 9 hours 3x a week>Max 56 hours of driving a week, 90 in 2 weeks>45 hour weekly break, can take a reduced 24 hour break if your last was 45The wages here are like above average for a German but if you're an Eastern European and go back to your country at the end of the shift you're making 3x your country's average wage which is why it's all Eastern Euros hauling goods in the EU.

I haven't heard of any firms pulling shit like this, even shady ass ones respect the driving hours.I'm told by older drivers that back in the day they used to pull shit with magnets to make the machines stop logging the driving time but that doesn't work on the newer ones.

You can, of course, still stop to piss, etc., whenever you want.When that rule was first implemented you had to log it as Off Duty which technically meant you had to be out of the truck and have no work responsibilities. France would be so nice to drive through if they just had depots built for humans. All the parking places are free, generally available and well taken care of. Roads are great. But their depots are absolutely fucking mental, both in terms of no space inside to turn or back towards the unloading ramp and the locations they put them in.
