absolute normie mindset
this is why modern car manufacturers don't even bother making high displacement engines anymore
>>
>>28767146
Because I couldn't find one in good condition for a reasonable price with the engine I wanted, so I'll end up spending way more money and effort in the long run to do an engine swap but at least it's in good shape with a pristine interior.

>2014 v6 mustang
I had never driven the v8 so I didn't know, but when I did the difference was huge.
That said, the v6 of that year was a great car, 300 hp wasn't bad, and it drove very well, plus the person who owned it prior to me spent a pretty penny upgrading the headunit with a nice touch screen and backup cam, a viper alarm system, and other small things. Only downside is ford put in a really weak clutch on the v6 models. I had bought at very low miles (~8k) and sometimes flooring it the clutch would slip intermittently and it did not feel good. Never had this happen in other cars.

Not sure if mine counts.
There was a V8 XE but it was a limited run of about 2-300 that still costs over £100k now. This was the best engine you could just walk into a dealer and buy

Weight, simple as.
I’ve owned the higher spec m235i (with LSD and sports package). Having also driven the poverty spec, the 228i/230i is a better car. The weight balance is better, it’s $10k cheaper, and for $1k you can have a tuned car that’s just as fast as the i6. The i6 handles like a pigfat mustang because half the engine hangs over the front axles, which you can never fix. Germans cope by putting race tires on their cars and driving at their home tracks against competitors with all-seasons.
4-cylinders have gotten good enough that you no longer need 8 cylinders to have fun. I do want a QV someday though in manual.
>>
>>28767347
this. I got the gti because paying 10k more in the used market for haldex awd and a bigger turbo isn't worth it to me. that and the golf r is like 500 lbs heavier.
>>
>>28767589
Don't argue with 3rd worlders. Ignore 3rd worlder posts.
>>
I don't want to start a new thread, so I'll post this here: should I abandon my search for a (((modern))) car and just save many thousands of dollars by buying this BASE MODEL 2001 Buick Park Avenue for pennies on the dollar?
>last buick model/trim with hood ornament; overpriced 'ultra' trim had recessed medallion where the hood meets the grill trim
>>
>>28768426
They're wrong wheel drive and I think they get transmission issues but these are so fucking comfy especially with the bench seat. My high school girlfriend had one that I drove a lot.
>>
>>28768426
Those are extremely comfy, and pretty reliable. Word of warning though, they are slooooow to accelerate. I guess they (literally) geared them for old people, so don't expect much get up and go even with the v6.
>>
>>28768426
>3.8
it will probably outlast you
>>
>>28768426
Yes.
The 3800 is insanely reliable. If Buick is anything like Pontiac for those model years, the rustproofing on that thing should be second to none.
You could probably drive that thing for the rest of your life if you just kept replacing the engine every 200-300k miles. I doubt we'll ever run out of 3800's. There were like 25 million made.
>>
>>28768426
>>28768613
>>28768622
The 3800 is good but it dosen't help much when every other part is burned garbage

>>28767596
Project 8 didn't exist at the point this car was made in 2015 or in the case of your 2016 one. So it doesn't count.
>>
I got my 19 wrx with 19k miles on it for $25k and the VA STI at similar mileage was minimum $10k more in every listing.
That's a lot more money and put it out of my budget.

I don't need a hatch that does 0-60 in 4 seconds and takes premium. I just want the cheapest new car that isn't a compromised econopile, and in Canada the GTI is it. At $39.5k (~28k USD) there's nothing else decent around that price except the Civic Hybrid and MAYBE the Sonata N-Line

>Golf GTI instead of Golf R
The cars have so much in common that a price delta of $16,000 is insane. The comfort features and build quality of the R is all there on the base trim GTI. You're missing out on an overhyped sound system with 2 more speakers and a sunroof that'll leak when the warranty ends. Yes, the Golf R is in a whole different league of performance. Yes, I would trade my GTI for an R in a heartbeat if money was no object. But I'm poor. That's why I have a base trim GTI, so there you go.

I've never been in this boat before, literally every car I've ever owned had the biggest engine possible (unless you consider GT500 as being at all related to the Mustang) but I'm about to. Buying a new F150 during the next big sales event and I'm getting the 2.7L. I'm getting mixed information if the newer versions of the 3.5 is any good or not, I'm not sure if I can trust it given its reputation, and the new V8s are so cucked it's not even worth it anymore.

On top of the better sound, the 240 is smoother and doesn't gas out past 80km/h. But yes the 230 is underrated in that it's more than quick enough, has a lighter nose than the 240, and gets great fuel economy.
>>
>>28776915
For 316i current fee is 280€
For a 330i N52 it would be around 930€
335i I think was 3L N54 or N55 so it would again be around 930€
Factoring in that the cheapest(“95” octane) fuel costs about 1.6€ per liter, that insurance would also be higher(currently is about 250€ a year) and that the average Greek makes less than 1000€ a month, a 3L car would be really expensive to maintain alongside a normal life.
Also the IRS or whatever would be on your ass for owning such a “large” engines car
