Based Alpine trying to make EV fun
>actual weight on release: 4400lbslol
>>28767911yeah probably. but if they can actually keep it sub 3k lbs then I’m interested
A390, based or cringe? I like what they did with the roof.
>waaah it's only got 150 miles of range
>>28767970I like it, mainly because it looks like a proper cyberpunk car.
>>28767910What's the point of an electric 2 seater fun car? An EV has like none of the things people enjoy on cars
>>28767987going fast in a straight line is fun and I’m tiers of /o/ trying to gaslight me into believing it’s not.if you want a lightweight manual with straight pipes good for you but stop acting like that’s the only way for a car to be fun.
>>28768019>going fast in a straight line is funmaybe for the first few times you do it, but then your car is a one trick pony that's going to get boring fast.
>>28768033maybe gunning it for the sake of gunning it does but being able to pass people even if they don’t want you to stays nice forever.
>>28767970alright for what it is. would never buy one though
>>28767972that’s enough for a car you drive for fun. you’re not going to travel with it.
>>28767972>fully charged in 2 minutes based
>>28767910How about they give it gears so it doesn't need a fucking 2000lb 500hp battery pack/motor? This single gear bullshit is getting pretty tiring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBgRHoJ7gwA
>>28767910What they should do instead is not make an ev at all
>>28768070>being able to pass people even if they don’t want you toYou don't need an EV to do that though.
>>28767910>ev-only brand>basedlol>inb4 but they still make the A110 with a gas engine! Not for long, they've already vowed to become an EV-only brand. Alpine is dead.
>>28767910>targets Yeah, just like I'll make a milli in 2025 (900k more to go)
>>28767911or>2900 pounds>40 mile charge range
>>28767970I like it but it looks like a prototype. Production would probably end up looking like a Golf.
>>28767970Incredibly gay, just like every cuckover.
>>28767910thatll be 400 grand+ 40% tip
There's a Caterham EV that is supposed to weigh 1200kg
>>28769992Sex.
>>28770002Imagine if it weighed 900kg and used the 620R supercharged Duratec. There isn;t a single electric ''''''sports car''''''' that wouldn't be improved with a real engine.
>>28769556It's out already: https://www.wired.com/review/review-alpine-a390/
>>28767970Cool but it's a prototype and will look like a generic blob once it passes all the security requirements.
>>28770447>>28770382
>>28767910>over 464 HPWho the fuck cares. If you want EV to catch on they need to have actual good range. Ie: over 600 mi between charges. Until then they are useless outside of dense city populations.
>>28768569dude that basically means you can't drive more than an hour away, and that's driving as efficiently as possible. having a little fun probably cuts that in half. so great, you can probably make it to the supermarket and back, just as long as the weather's nice and you don't need the heat or AC.
>>28767911FPBP
>>28770501Little sporty EVs to compete with the miat or other canyon cars don’t need industry leading range. plus, with the latest charging technologies you can fully charge such a smol battery in 5 minutes
>>28770586the Audi E5 sportback needs 10 minutes of charging to go 230 miles.
>>28771274If you stop at a charger that costs half a million to install. And if that charger is actually operating at its rated capacity, which it never is. These high speed chargers don't exist because their cost is so goddamn high, the things are vaporware and all the charging times quoted assuming they do exist are false promises.
>>28770501Nobody cares about range if you can add like 200 miles of range in 10 minutes. Which is what the BMW Neue Klasse can achieve, for example, and it will be the standard for everyone soon.
>>28771285People start caring again real quick when they stop at the charger and discover it only has 1/4th the rated capacity and now it takes 40 minutes to add 200 miles of range. Which is the average experience of charging. The car can take it, but the charger can't give it.
>>28771287>Which is the average experience of charging. It really isn't, in what third world hellhole do you live?
>>28771297The real world. You really think you're going to be able to stop at a charger in bumfuck Iowa on your long distance trip and get a charger that costs a half a million dollars to install just so that your car will charge faster? No, you aren't. You'll be lucky to get 100 kW.If you do a long trip with these things you are not stopping to refill in the fucking bay area SF. You're going to be refilling in the middle of nowhere in flyover states. And those states are not going to have the chargers you're looking for. You're talking about the Neue Klasse's charging rate like it's new. It isn't. We've had EVs on the road with an 800v architecture for years now. The Taycan had an 800v architecture back in 2019. Nobody talks about how fast the Taycan can charge because the limiting factor is not the car, it's the charger. And even new chargers that are getting installed are not the ultra fast chargers because those chargers are so expensive they take forever to pay for themselves. When places install chargers it's the midrate ones, not the fast ones, because those are more economical.
>>28771301I live in Europe, we have a very nice network of high-speed chargers.
>>28771339Not outside of your major metros you don't. And if you actually make a long distance trip, guess where you're filling up? And even in your metros, the majority of those high speed chargers are actually just mid speed chargers over-advertising their speed. You plug your Neue Klasse in them and you're still only going to get 100-150kW.
>>28771346No, stuff like the Ionity network is spread all over the highways https://www.ionity.eu/network
>muh range in a little toy car you drive for fun
