Is it worth replacing a fuel tank pressure sensor? Will probably cost 2-3 hours of labor plus the cost of the part
>>28768337Depends, is it causing major running issues?Or just EVAP crap that can be ignored?
>>28768343The light just came on this today but no issues really. The only major issue is that I can't remote start while the engine light is on and it's cold outside
>>28768343>that can be ignored? Not for cuck state residents
>>28768337You sure it's the pressure sensor going bad? A bad fuel cap or evap valve will cause a pressure fault as well. Those are a lot easier to replace.
>>28768550>You sure it's the pressure sensor going bad?No and I don't know how to checkI have a new fuel cap so it might be a crack in the valve but my mechanic is a family friend so I trust him to not fuck me by replacing a good sensor and charging me $400 for labor
>>28768337There is no fuel tank pressure sensor. The tank is under atmospheric pressure.
>>28768824LOL No-wrench Domestics and some imports use FTPS. It's been common on GM products for 20 years. OPs picture is a Delphi sensor like what would be in the top of a GM fuel pump assembly. The system sees vacuum and pressure, that's how the leak detection function works.OP if you want the EVAP system to work, no light to be on, and remote start to work - fix it. If you don't care about any of those 3 things, don't. It's really that easy. I will also remind that if you "ignore" the engine lamp you need to check the codes on a schedule. While most people consider it "emissions stuff" intermittent cam/crank signals, missing sensor output or correlation, timing correlation, mixture codes, etc can all effect fuel economy, power output, and reliability. Use an OEM part, but I'm sure your mechanic knows this. If it uses the design where it mounts into the top of the fuel pump assembly and you live in the rust belt, replace the pump assembly if it's more that ~7 years old. Rust jacking of the lock ring will eventually crack the plastic pump body and cause EVAP leaks. The older steel pump bodies have the pressure lines rot off and spray 60psi of fuel all over. LOL
>>28769589Just went and got it replaced. $409 fucking dollars
>>28769606Be glad you're not replacing a Ford internal water pump or a $1000 alternator.
>>28769589Yeah but that is an absolute pressure transducer, idiot. Tanks hold no more pressure than a fart.
>>28769654>atmospheric pressureCrazy because I close the vent and open the purge and there's vacuum in the tank. I agree, the atmosphere is frequently in a negative pressure state. Just the other day I was walking to get the mail and it was -18" of mercury in my driveway. LOLFuel tank pressure sensor is what it is called in live data, code criteria, and service info. Sorry. I agree it's an absolute transducer. But describing the EVAP/tank pressure as atmospheric is inaccurate. Vacuum and pressure build is the detection method for ESIM/NVLD systems, vacuum decay back to atmospheric is the detection for purge/seal systems, and current draw of a pump to change system pressure to a given differential with atmospheric is how LDP systems work. Low pressure sure, your EVAP smoke machine is ~1psi max output. But fuel tank pressure sensors are common and called such.https://parts.gmparts.com/product/gm-genuine-parts-fuel-tank-pressure-sensor-16238399
>>28769685You are obviously cherrypicking the definition of atmosphere and over glorifying a pump, can’t, and couple of checks. The mental gymnastics people go through to defy gravity.
