Why do I like these so much? They're weird looking and a bit egg shaped. Plagued with aging German electronics, and yet I can't quite the masculine urge to swap a cammed truck engine into one.

I love American engines (i.e. LS v8s) but I hate all the cars they came in, either for being ugly or built like shit. The only thing that comes close to my ideal hypothetical in factory form would be a CTSV wagon, and I dont have 70k for one of those. The e39 has enough support I could swap it with almost no fabrication and splicing a handful of wires.
I'm getting married soon and I will buy one of these because they are so convenient while still being fun to drive unlike minivans or SUVs

should I buy a manual E39 540i?there's a few really clean ones for sale in my area for 10-15k
