Should I get studded tires? First year living in TN and people have been telling me it can get crazy here in a month or so.
>>28769644Just get cheap chink all seasons
lmao I live on a mountain and you don't need that shit. It's good for ice but doesn't do anything extra in snow. Tennessee doesn't get enough ice to warrant these. People from TN are fucking stupid. You just need all-weather or snow tires. Studs are for elevation + ice. If you don't do 30-40 degree hill climbs to get home (in ice) you don't need studded tires at all.Hell, I used to run all-seasons on a FWD van with a v6 and I was fine.
>>28769644Not if you live there. Studs are incredible when you need them and terrible when you don't. If you drive them on bare pavement you will wear your studs down. Studded and studdable tires have much harder compounds than studless tires so your traction turns to shit without those studs.
>>28769644lol>>28769669>>28769670Can confirm, and I live in New England, where we get SNOW (Tennessee does not).LMAO @ southerners always losing their minds the second they see a few flakes falling; meanwhile, us yankees think nothing of driving around in open diff rwd shitboxes on four bald tires 15 mph above posted speed limits on twisting mountain roads, like fr senpai lurn 2 dryve lol.In all honesty, anyone telling you that you need studded tires in TN is either a cowardly idiot or a troll.>inb4 op gets pulled over for damaging the asphalt
Check if it’s legal to run in your jurisdiction. There really is no reason to run them unless you regularly encounter ice, as that’s what the studs are meant to cut through. It will be worse on straight snow than non stud snow tires and especially bad on dry road. See >>28769673>t.north ontario anon
>>28769677you try harder on 4chan than you do in real life
>>28769644TN gets enough snow to warrant snow tires one (1) time a year, and it'll generally be cleared up within one day. -t. lived here my entire life.If you're that dedicated to never missing work, go for it, but otherwise it's a waste of time and money and you're denying yourself the pleasure of a snow day.
>>28769644No. I'm from TN as well. When people say the weather will get crazy, it means we'll get 1 or 2 decent snows that put down 8-10 inches. The problem is that every retard and their even more retarded mom thinks they have to go grocery shopping the second they hear there might be snow because of an ancestral memory of the blizzard of 92 when we got 3/4 feet of snow overnight. There is no reason for tire studs, or even dedicated winter tires here. You're better off using that money to upgrade your insurance policy so when Cracktavious or Crystal Methany plow into your car in a parking lot and flee you aren't out as much for repairs.
>>28769644Nigga what? I have never seen snow tires in TN in my life. Everything closes when it snows 0.25 inches anyways. Just stay home.
>>28769644Get a snowbike
>>28769978You're from Tennessee
>>28769644Bro you live in fucking Tennessee, are you retarded?
>>28769644Studs ruin the roads. FUCK YOU
>>28772253lmao this is such a stupid fucking meme. Studs don't do fuck-all to the pavement. A single pass with a snow plow blade does way the fuck more damage than a years worth of studded tire traffic.

Maybe get an all weather tire like the CC2. Though you can probably get away with running summers all year.
>>28769644I would say the latest top tier ice friction/nordic compound tyres have largely superceded the use-case for studded tyres in all but a few applications; almost as good on smooth ice, better on frozen compact and powdery snow, and actually usable on dry pavement. That being said, you don't need either anywhere south of the mason-dixon line. Just get a good top tier UHPAS like the pz as+3 or dws06+ or psas4. If you really worried then get a 'performance winter' tyre with strong tread compound that can be driven all year (which is basically just three; the ultragrip performance 3, crossclimate 2, and pilot alpine 5) (yes the cc2 is marketed to a different segment likewise the other two aren't marketed as year round solutions but they're all basically doing the same thing in substance, though the goodyear or alpine will have better performance).
