I have trouble in the daytime. It's too bright even with sunglasses, I can see pretty well in near-dark. I constantly squint or even close one eye driving in the day. If the difference between what's lit and unlit is too great you are entirely reliant on your lights to see, whereas with dimmer lights you can still look out into darker areas since your eyes will have adapted to the lower light conditions.
