WELL I'VE SAID IT BEFORE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAINYOU GET NOTHING FOR NOTHING EXPECT IT WHENYOU'RE BACKSEAT DRIVING AND YOUR HANDS AIN'T ON THE WHEEL
>>28770686think all the surviving examples of these have been turned into 350 sleds by now. the factory engines (V6, 265 V8, 305 V8, and 350 diesel) we don't talk about.
>>28770692My 307 still exists. Begrudgingly, definitely, but I haven't swapped it for anything since it still just works.
>>28770692There was also the turbo V6, idk that might have been decent.
>>28770704i guess the Cutlass and Regal had the 307 while the Monte Carlo and Grand Prix had the 305 per GM's new engine allotment rules
I used to see a lot of 81-87 A-body coupes when I was a kid. They can't have been too bad to have a high survival rate into the 90s like they did (the 78-80 ones were rarely seen).
>>28770692the post-77 A-body coupes were a lot better rocket sleds than the earlier ones due to being smaller and lighter weight
>>28770686These have become the new '56 chevy
>>28770692Too bad they got rid of manual shift after 79.
>>28770720These and the B-bodies got a restyling in 80-81. I feel that the original body shells must have been a prototype they had to rush into production and the restyled bodies were what the stylists actually intended after they had more time to work on them.
>>28770707>There was also the turbo V6, idk that might have been decent. In the Monte Carlo it was not. It had the carbureted Buick Turbo 3.8 that was in a draw-through configuration. Yes, that's a QuadraJet you can see under the carb hat.
>>28770686the first year of Reagan was still total malaise era and only in 83 do you see signs of recovery coming
I keep getting these and the malibus mixed up lol but I love both of em. Shame I don't live in the united states of azerbaijan
>>28770929same platform, different body
>>28770931I'd see Malibus around into the early 00s as well they had to be at least 20 years old by them. Surprisingly pretty solid and durable cars for that era.
>>28770686HYB (hell yeah brother)
>>28770686Those wheels are rare, are they 14s?
>>28770936Full frame GMs run forever. They killed them for the 3800 fwd is why you don't see so many today compared to Fords.
>>28770946>Those wheels are rare, are they 14s?looks like ithttps://www.impalaforums.com/threads/monte-carlo-checkerboard-rims.498737/
>>28770950The Ford and Chrysler stuff from this time mostly didn't hold up but they were both almost dead in the early 80s and had a shoestring budget to build them with.
>>28770961I have seen Aspens, Furys, and Diplomats from Chrysler's death spiral period. Not any of the FWD stuff though.
>>28770961GM usually gets the job done pretty well if the car has a V8 in it or it can have an optional V8. If it doesn't offer a V8 it has a fairly high chance of being a disposable shitbox that lasts just to the warranty period.
>>28770946no the standard and only wheel size on these was 14 inches
>>28770982He means the hubcaps.
