why are these so cheap? aside from but muh engine, they make some power and look pretty cool. less cucked than an i8?
>>28772209I saw a taycan in a parking lot today and thought it was genuinely the ugliest fucking porsche I'd ever seen. I know the Cayenne exists, but holy fuck is the taycan UGLY
>>28772209A battery pack replacement for one of those is $45-50k. Plus you have the typical Porsche maintenance and repair costs.
>>28772209Early models have issues. That and basically no one wants to pay $150,000 for something that loses 70% of it's value in 3-4 years. While also having 911 levels of maintenance without any 911 soul.
>>28772209They have low range for an EV -- 220ish miles sopping wet brand new. After accounting for all the efficiency losses, some years of battery degradation, only charging to 80%, and losing a bunch of range in winter you can easily be down to 100 miles of actual range. Enough for city driving if you have a charger at home to top off every night, but not enough for a road trip -- with a battery that small and a car that inefficient you'll spend 45 minutes charging for every 90 minutes driving. If that doesn't bother you, and you're okay with dealing with some of the early first gen teething issues, they seem to be decent cars. Also it's not just Taycans that have tanked in price like this -- ALL EVs are depreciating like mad on the used market. Pretty much any 'luxury' EV that's a couple years old is down to the $40-$50k range. Used 2-3 year old commodity EVs can be gotten for $20-$30k. If you're okay with the lifestyle and okay with having to deal with those first gen problems the prices are shockingly cheap.
>>28772209Those things sound so weird.
>>28772209They're actually pretty good and you can get a lot out of them if you get one with cpo or you get lucky and you get one that doesn't have some scary software issue. They're the first gen of a very experimental EV so they aren't gonna be perfect and their range is shit, like 200miles, but if you keep it as some city car then you could do worse. They drive much better than any other EV though.
>>28772209It's not even that cheap? It's just depreciated as much as any other non-memed luxury car from that year. An Escalade or Mercedes S550 from those years is just as depreciated as a Taycan while having a proper V8 and not being some faggy EV or hybrid.
>>28772297I don't commute far and mostly just looking for something unique and fun to drive. Right now I am on the fence between the Taycan and the i8.
>>28772214This is how I know you’re full of shit. The Panamera is 5x as ugly and white the taycan isn’t as amazing as the missionX concept car, it is SO much better looking than any other 4 door Porsche it’s not even funny. If I wanted an EV I’d still buy a tesla first tho.
It's really not cheap at all. When you consider how much range it has, and how much hp it makes, and consider that a same year same miles PLAID costs the same...
>>28772348I feel like Teslas are kind of played out at least in my area. The Civic of EVs, if you will. I probably see at least 15 on my short drive to work every day.
>>28772357Yeah because that's a valid metric to use when buying a new car. Like I was going to buy a Camry because they're a good value and reliable but they're too popular so I bought a Jaguar F Pace instead. It's a huge piece of shit and I hate it but it's definitely the least common car in the parking lot for the handful of days a year that it isn't in the shop for repairs.
>>28772374Can't tell if you're being ironic, but yeah dude that absolutely IS why people buy the F-Paces, Giulias etc... if it wasn't a metric that's important to some people, they'd never get bought.
>>28772209Probably because it is an ugly piece of shit and everything single thing is going to be a problem. Dealing with cars like this just not worth the hassle, get a 308 Ferrari, at least you will look good. Also, is this an EV? If that is the case a Tesla will rape it brutally, I saw one at the strip running mid 12 at 110ish.
>>28772225Yeah, a 911 holds it's value better than pretty much anything, that's what you want OP. Just get a Camty if you want a 4 door.
>>28772297>you could do worseHow?A Plaid makes twice the power for the same price.Do you have a driver's license or do you just drive cars in video games?
>>28772312Get the I8, it's also a shitbox but it looks cool. There will be no Taycans on the road in 20 years, it is a horribly ugly and problematic shitbox.
>>28772357It runs 140 mph in a 1/4 mile.Do you have a driver's license? You little fucking queers, you will die a virgin.
>>28772400I got throat about 3 hours ago, bud. She thinks I should get the i8. Anyway, I am less concerned about raw performance otherwise I'd go buy a fucking used hellcat. monkey
it's odd that people are so ev-bad brain broken they cant think about this without defaulting to culture warrior modejust consider these the same as you would a used s classyeah, you can pick up an s class for 60% of it's MSRP thats 3-4 years oldif you can't figure out if you can afford it or why it's so cheap you shouldn't be considering anything that has ever stickered for more than 50k ever
>>28772419From a tranny. What does your dad think about you creeping around for gay sex? You know he knows, creeps cannot hide their creepiness.Anyway, enjoy the anal sex in a 13 second shitbox that you cannot maintain.
>>28772423faggotron in chief over here can't help but fantasize ... tell me more bro
>>28772209The economy sucks and nobody is paying 50k for a used car in this day and age. Also you can get a Tesla 3 Model Performance for that price that does most of its shit and it's brand new car with the supercharger network ready to go.
>>28772357People bought an assload of civics because they were better than comparably priced vehicles. The same is true of Teslas and shit like the Taycan
How does a crying frog look cool
>>28772209>why are these so cheap?Because they're trash
>>28772209It's trash, so the owner wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible.
>>28772209A luxury car losing more than half of its value over the span of 5 to 6 years is completely normal and expected.
>>28772214copeenjoy your honda
>>28775196very true, but the lack of engine maintenence/general running costs may offset traditional luxury car apprehensionI suppose battery uncertainty is the main thing, but are model s perf battery packs becoming unusable or something? especially with the advances with charging and bms or general calibration I wouldn't be all that afraid of a low mile used ev
>>28772209>why are these so cheap?theyre shit
>>28772421There are a lot of people like 'Linus Tech Tips', who aren't 'car guys' but have money and like the idea of 'future tech', who bought a Taycan expecting a 'high performance driving experience', and were ultimately left feeling underwhelmed. Sure enough, it's fast like another performance car; but not compelling like another performance car. (In the event, he sold it and bought a GR Corolla instead.)
