how bad are used tesla's from 2020 from a buyers perspective?
>>

1. Any options, such as FSD, are erased by Tesla OTA sometime after you register the car to your name.
2. They can't be serviced by independent mechanics. If you do, and Tesla finds out, they will disable supercharging OTA.
3. Parts availability is abysmal.
4. They don't have a reputation for reliability.

They're fine. 2020 is the last year they used resistive PTC heaters. Those heaters have 6 coils in them, and they tend to fail one by one. Check the service menu, it'll tell you if any of the coils are failed. It's a pain in the ass to replace it yourself.
If you're buying from a private seller, get them to run the battery test too. It takes about a day and the car has to be plugged in to do it, but the battery is under warranty for 120k miles anyway.
Otherwise, the only real weakness on the earlier Model 3s were the control arms. Listen for clunks and pops while test driving, and if it's bad enough, you'll feel it in the steering. If it needs replacing, parts are usually $250-300. Since it's a common issue on early 3s, a lot of times Tesla will goodwill it even out of warranty if you ask nicely.

I'm laughing at you right now while I order parts from Rock Auto and follow along the step by step picture guides in the shop manuals that Tesla puts online.

Shouldn't the new captcha filter out retards such as yourself who don't know how to make nouns plural?
>>

>implying the new captcha is hard

I actually think it's much easier, but I've read a bunch of complaints about it on other boards

Anyways. Pluralizing nouns with an apostrophe is incorrect and makes oneself look stupid. That's my main point
>>
>>28772555
it's not hard but it's a bigger timewaste than the previous one

they're fine, but you likely want to get a slightly newer one.
i don't recall exactly when they started putting heat pumps in them (the y was the first to get them, the 3 got them a bit later), but you definitely wanna make sure to get one new enough to have it.
there's also been several other updates/improvements to the car over its life, notably including the cpu/gpu hardware, which affects fsd capabilities, so again, you should check on all that stuff in detail to make sure you aren't missing out on anything.

104k on my 2021. no problems.

I believe from 2021 and forward. Ryzen CPU is later I think.

According to the other poster, only the original owner of the car is allowed to even use the FSD

the other poster is wrong.

fsd is a transferable software package. if the original car had it, you can either get it or not, by agreement with the original owner (and also, presumably, more or less money in the purchase price). when you transfer the car's ownership from his tesla account to yours, you can also transfer the fsd over (or not, if you agree not to).
the only complication im aware of is cars that have been sold at auctions, which might make it hard to figure out exactly whose account owns the fsd and to get it from them.

and obv, all this pertains to an outright purchased fsd, not a subscription. if the car only had a subscription, you can resubscribe if you want, but that's it.

Outside of the criticisms already posted, watch out for abused ones, Teslas were incredibly popular targets for Uber and Doordash drivers.

Which you might think as incredibly stupid to buy a new car for Uber, specially a brand-new Tesla, but with all the Bidenbucks EV credits that are now gone + incentives from Uber/Doordahs (I believe Uber offered 2K towards the purchase of an EV cause they like the eviromentaly positive image) + claiming the vehicle as a work vehicle cause it's a workplace expense they were getting these bellow 14K-15K brand new.

After being used and abused by these guys, they get dumped for another car and suckers like you might end up buying them, not knowing the horrors you will have to deal with cause there's no independent Tesla mechanics. It's all going to the Stealership.
