I'm buying a 2001 Buick Park Avenue with the Prestige Package and that's all there is to it. It's the Base Model (no supercharger), babied by its elderly first & only prior owner, with just over 90,000 miles on the clock, and an engine clean enough to eat off of, which starts right up and runs smoothly. Driving it is like riding around in a leather couch floating atop a magical thundercloud. It is classy yet understated, brown inside & out, with enough seating for six or seven adults to ride comfortably, and a trunk large enough to fit an entire family. I'm buying it for not a penny more than $3,000 cash from a dealership owned by a close friend of the mechanic I apprenticed under at my first job after High School in a nearby town. This is the car that I have chosen. I don't think that I'll even bother with any of the other automobiles I've seriously looked at in my quest for an ideal chariot, neither the Hondas nor Toyotas, not the Fords or Chevys, not the Hyundai Elantra Sport, nor even the Mazda CX-5; no: I have found my new ride, and it is superlative. This is it. In a few weeks, I'll be in Manhattan, riding up & down Park Avenue in my Park Avenue, a 50 year old man driving a 25 year old land yacht. I'll be investing the remaining $12,000 I've set aside for my budget at the casino. Merry Christmas.

That is a good car, my Mom loved hers. She loved her Dart more but you can't buy those anymore.

Very nice.

Some wisdom for you:
WD-40 can be used to get rid of interior squeaks. Just spray it on the interior seams.
Soap and water should be your go-to interior cleaner. It actually gets shit clean and doesn't leave goop behind.
Turtle Wax paste polish is good and lasts forever for $6.
Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic is great for a finisher.

Great choice, 1.8L Kia anon here, glad I could convince you not to buy that Elantra, that shit was a junkyard engine to auction special.

Great choice of car, considering your options, I'd choose the same exact car too.

Just please, before you buy it, look on the underside and make sure it's not rusted to shit, that's the big weakest of GMs in-general, especially in the early 2000s.

And I'm sure you already know about the common issues with the coolant elbows, intake gaskets, EGR, and valve cover gaskets, but there are a bunch of aftermarket solutions for that because of the Grand Prix bros.

I wish I could still drive my Buick, damn rust, I loved that thing, but I've moved onto another GM I enjoy a little bit more lol. Enjoy the car :)

With 90K miles and in good condition? I think that's a good value for $3K. They're comfy and they have reliable engines.

Solid choice for a car. It's your money but the casino is not a good choice. Good luck anon.

I'd take that $12k and buy all silver.
Gold and silver prices are going to at least double within the next 6 months

That was a $3000 car twelve years ago.

It'll be good to you. Bought this 04 back in May, with nearly 200k on the odo, and already put close to 11k of my own on it.
Check those cooling elbows underneath the alternator, and swap them for aluminum ones if it hasn't been done already.
Godspeed.

OP here, I just picked it up today. They replaced the sway bars, changed the oil, and did a bunch of other work. Insurance is about $21 a month. Total out the door cost with all fees, permanent (not temp) plates, registration & everything's was $3,750. There were three or four others looking at this car, including one from Ohio, but I snatched it up first. Now I'm heading to the local rural Shell station to fill the tank with 97 Ultra Premium and take a drive down to New York City to see some girls. Can't wait to drive my Park Avenue on Park Avenue! Merry Christmas!

(I'm only going to gamble a few thousand dollars and save the rest.)

The entire headlight assembly on those things comes out with two bolts, but you could also just get some painter's tape and put it around the lenses so you can do them on the car without worrying about scuffing your paint.
