Who builds the most reliable and powerful V8 in a ratio with reliability the way the Jeep I6 4.0L's are known, but in V8 with torque and hp?
>>28772948sbc is the gold standard chrysler magnum v8s are anchors, ford modulars are too complicated for the power they produce, small block fords are fine but have been out of production for almost 30 yearsnothing european is good lol
America has the V8 shit locked down. Americans even do euro style V8s that are peeky and rev happy better than Europe.Japan comes close, but your options are only one flavor of VK and maybe two flavors of UZ. Jap V8s don’t have the custom options American V8s do, where you can get many different kinds of small block cast and many different kinds of ford cast. An American V8 can be anything you want, from high tech F1 style screamer shit to lazy running heavy industrial.American V8s are like legos.
>yuros living rent freeweird. usually it's the other way around where yuropoors can't stop thinking about america but this is like the 4th thread on the front page where burgers are sperging completely unprovoked.
>>28772971No one said anything about Europe.
Chevy Easily. Not even close.
Third vote for chevy v8. Small and big block have been top tier since the 60's.
>>28772948One of the greatest European inventions.
>>28772948Between the SBC, SBF, and LS series it's pretty established that the US has this locked down.
>>28772948the chrysler gen III 5.7 hemi will be looked back on as one of the greats
>>28772948LS is the meta. It's been over 30 years and every competitor cames short. It's the AR-15 of V8s.You can make a better one, but it will be 12% better while costing 13x as much.
>Jeep I6 4.0l for reliability Ford's 300 beats the Jeep's cheeks on I6 reliability. You cannot kill it with intentional sabotage.
Lexus and Toyota
>>28773012Both are basically extinct and are outnumbered by the millions of 350's still on the roads. Both of those are overrated pieces of shit.

>>28773044I love my LT1 C4 but it's not fuddlore that the opti sucks. The later vented models are better but it's not a good design.
>>28773503I have an LT1 fleetwood, it's not that bad. You can just get an MSD opti or even an electric water pump. The only bad designed optisparks are the early ones without weep holes, the ones with the vents are fine. Is it the #1 best chebby design? No. Is it a good engine? Absolutely.
351 cleveland302 windsor350 chev318 fireballYanks definitely are v8 kings
>>28773504Though they do make a habit of needing water pumps too. I suspect the metal coupler (#39) that goes between the drive sprocket and the water pump seizes and then puts too much thrust on the WP bearings but nobody ever replaces the coupler too when doing a WP job
>>28773507don't forget muh hemi
Can't beat a small block chevy.
>>28773507As a ford shill, the ford small blocks kind of suck in comparison to gm, but it makes sense because gm continued to develop the tech, and ford completely abandoned it. Ford small blocks cost more to build, largely due to age, a smaller aftermarket, and less readily available units outside of completely aftermarket blocks. SBF factory head castings are almost all trash compared to the cheapest aftermarket aluminum ones; as an example, the best head ford ever made available for the Windsor blocks (gt40x aluminum for example) is outflowed by 50% from a $1400 set of Chinese casting afr heads The iron blocks themselves are vastly inferior to the worst gen1 ls based iron blocks, and even the aluminum ls blocks to an extent By the time ford was retiring the 302, they had already been installing modular engines in its Lincoln as early as '91. They went all in on overhead cam tech which allowed the coyote to be such a good platform by the time it rolled out in 2011-2012. Gm built off their sbc and the development shows. The venerable ls1 actually carries some of the worst flowing parts in the entire engine family, to the point where you can bolt almost any other ls-based intake or head package to an ls1 block and have it be a direct, significant bolt-on upgrade. The coyote may ultimately be more capable as proven by racers like Brett Lesala, but the LS family will forever be the absolute best bang for buck mix of reliability, packaging, power, and cost. Its the one engine that really does everything.
any v8's that dont need 20k worth of epic modzz to be reliable?
>>287737275.3 Vortec
is the GM LT1 any good ?
>>28773746Which one? There are 3. The first one is boomer unobtainium and you're a /o/ fag so unlikely to have the wads for the newest one, so most likely you're referring to a Gen II SBC? If so, they're okay. Decent power.
Chevy big block, the ones they put in suburbans.
>>28773761The 454 or the 8.1? The 454 is pretty solid and hard to kill with some decent aftermarket. The 8.1 burns a fuck load of oil by nature so if you don't keep an eye on it the engine obviously won't last. It's weight is a bit of an issue as well as it's 300lbs heavier than an iron block 6.0 LQ4. It seems to have a somewhat limited aftermarket so it's hard to take advantage of all that displacement and cast iron. t. 2500 Suburban owner
