MX5 cup series is fun, but the costs to race in it are fucking insane. $20k+ a weekend for entire season + repairs is out of a majority of aspiring M/o/torists price range, so why don't we make something better on the cheap?
>>28772956Anything below Miata is gonna be some diy mystery meat shit. Anything out of production is not happening.
>ITT: Create a budget spec serieWhatever car you currently own with the spec it currently has.
Race shitty 125 chink bikes on short circuits. All bikes are from a pool that are allocated via lottery to prevent teams developing them. Just arrive, pay and play.
>>28772956The CityCar Cup in England looks pretty cool. > 1.0 litre 3-door models of the 2005-2013 Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1
The 12th annual black pearl event>Must be a FULL sized sedan of any nationality>RWD and FWD, no AWD>V8 only>circuit racing
>>28772961>Anything below Miata is gonna be some diy mystery meat shit.I think Sentra Cup is cheaper and I heard from comments about the Sentra cup that the Micra cup was even cheaper before it got replaced
Whatever they've got going on in finland

>>28772956>$20k+ a weekend for entire season + repairs is out of a majority of aspiring M/o/torists price rangearen't drivers almost always sponsored? I would love to pilot a bad dragon/bluechew combo livery nd
>>28772956Look at the UK, they have dozens(!) of one make series for all budgets>choose common, not too slow car that is fun to drive and generally robust.>apply safety gear>allow for cost some effective improvements that make the car more reliable>other changes and compounds for tire/brakes etc are tightly controlled>well organized series are also ordering cages, consumables and other parts in bulk which ensures parity and saves moneyYou can apply this to old Minis, newer Minis, BMWs, Boxters, MR2s, and any warm-or hot hatch made in the past 2-3 decades. Depends what shithole you happen to be from. Don't go too old, decent examples will get hard to find and the base price isn't the biggest expense if you add up the costs of a few seasons.Lots of european organizers are trying to create something similar, the german 318ti cup has been hugely successful and already kickstarted some proper careers
>>28772956Just do it like they do in Finland with folk racing; you can bring any car with anything on it that you like - but afterwards, anyone can buy it for X dollars if they want to.It's the perfect solution. Allows for entrylevel motorsport fun in terms of both competitiveness and price, without bureaucratically asinine ruleset micromanagement of design.
