Why is shit like this so expensive?
What makes a LS $50,000?
>>
(Race Spec)
>>
It’s built by Katech. The same people who built the best endurance racing engines of all time.
>>
>>28774435
inflation or something
>>
>>28774435
retards will buy literally anything if you call it "race spec" or "track spec"
>>
>>28774467
In the case of katech, it’s justified.

Knowing how to get an LS to make 712hp all day, erry day.

It's for some nice shit, billet crank exe.
But I don't see $50,000 there

$50k usually means $20k engine and $30k in parts. If you're buying a race spec LS making 700hp na, you're getting top of the line parts and the guarantee that they're assembled and tested correctly. It doesn't mean assembly and testing are worth the extra 20-30k for you, but for someone else who's competing in stock car racing or somewhere that regulations matter, its worth it to them. No average guy is dropping $50k on an LS to run 10 second 1/4 miles. And obviously thats not their core buyerbase. People who want a 700hp LS for the 1320 are just buying a 408 stroker shortblock off jegs and porting/polishing a pair of truck heads they found for $500.

>why is a bespoke extremely high performance racing engine expensive???
this board gets dumber every passing day.

>Why is shit like this so expensive?
brown influencers will buy it
>>
>>28774435
They had to put adamantite in the valvetrain to stop it from munching lifters
>>
>>28774435
My brother in christ, do you not know who Katech is?
>>
>>28775029
A C6R Kaytech engine sold for $30,000 a few years back.
Even the real race engine is cheaper
>>
>>28775047
sold where?
>>
>>28774487
Then do it yourself. Your not paying 50k for he parts, it's for the service.
>>
>>28774487
Check your math... That dry sump system is $5500 alone. The exhaust valves are $220 a piece. You think labor is free?
>>
>>28774435
building engines is a pain in the ass to do right and well; i had to tear down and rebuild an L32 for my high school shop class final and if i had to do that again i would definitely be charging 5 figures
>>
>>28774487
It's not just a sum of part values. There's also a bunch of labor involved - block/part prep, balancing, assembly, testing, etc.
>>
>>28774435
>Katech

There's your answer. Want first-world white labor? Gotta pay white labor prices.
>>
>>28774487
Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.
That just means you don't know as much as you think.
>>
>>28775590
It better be damn well documented for that fucking price.
>>
>>28775047
a used race engine is essentially a paperweight

This is what it looks like when the engine is not made of chinesium and is not assembled in China or India
