They're the only ones who are still making at least a quarter decent looking cars in today's age that don't look like they were designed by a gaming chair company
The Chinese ones? No.
>>28774683>puts a strung out high compression turbo 4cyl in an absolute bargenothing personnell
>>28774681Post pics of Volvo carsI've seen Volvo semi trucks that look pretty good
>>28774689From the last good era.The headlights on nu-volvos are kinda cool at least.
>>28774688See, this looks like an actual evolution of their old school cars. Most manufacturers don't do this anymore and just throw on as many weird shapes as possible instead
>>28774697Well you'll be glad to hear they axed it.
>>28774681Yeah, a 10 year old Volvo is probably the best value for money car you can possibly get.
>>28774700Don't tell them that, I still need to pick up a parts car.
>>28774696Yeah those are some handsome looking cars. I like their character.I was looking into getting a V40 wagon a few years back because I heard they were super reliable and strong performance wise.
>>28774698Can't have shit in modern day
>>28774711It's ok anon, they only came with the same anemic brand of 2.0L 4 cylinder that gets put in everything these days. The twincharged hybrid setup could've been interesting if they had kept the actual good Volvo engines around. I mean, who the fuck puts a supercharger and a turbo AND a hybrid system on one car.
>>28774708Anything with the turbo 5 cylinder is a safe bet (Except the S60R)
In Sweden they are immensely overpriced on the used market as every retard and their soccer mom wants one. They're also a bit dull to drive. Not Toyota dull but still kinda dull. So for those reasons I don't care much for Volvo.
Love Volvo (pre Geely) but I'm not a deluded fanatic that ignores or excuses their many minor and some major issues. A decade later I'm still kicking myself for selling my R. I really miss it but there's no way I'm spending $20k+ CAD on a 20 year old car to get a decent manual example now.
>>28775156You can still get decent ones for under $10k in the states.
>>28775164I just did a quick 15 min search for a manual S60R and V70R in the states and couldn't find anything decent for under $15k. Most are auto and/or beat to shit with the retarded seller firmly asking around $10k.Even if I found one in the U.S between $12-17K it wouldn't be worth it for me considering the exchange rate plus I'd have to pay import fees, tax, gas for the drive back to the East coast (since most of the good ones are in the West), and I'd have to spend quite a bit on mods to make it like my old one.
>>28774681My wife has one, and some of the design choices made by this company are mind bogglingly stupid.
>>28774696ugly eggshitvolvo died when they stopped making rwd cars
Saw a 2010 v50 with 140k miles for 5k.I'm okay with an auto, needs a new steering pump. 2.4 I5Should?
>>28775526if you want an ugly piece of shit built on a ford platform, sure
>>28775529I don't care if it's ugly, just need something that won't fall apart
>>28775535this board is for people who actually care about cars>>>/wsr/
>>28775535>>28775547i mean >>>/adv/
>>28774681never had one but the 850 t5r looks cool.
>>28775526I missed out on a 2012 V50. Ended up getting an '11 S60 instead but I still kind of regret not going for it.
>>28774681>Do you like Volvo?Yes. Owned 4 of them. Early 2000's was peak (My V70 T5 was epic), then Ford accountants got involved. After than, they became a bit too responsible and focussed on 4-pot engines. They never mastered the art of calibrating an auto 'box, and still haven't
>>28774700Why is that?
>>28777366>After than, they became a bit too responsible and focussed on 4-pot enginesThey didn't start focusing on i4s until after Ford sold them off.
>>28777409Drivetrain as reliable as any toyota (if you follow the maintenance schedule)Parts as cheap as any ferd (provided you live in europe)
>>28777415I know, that's why I used the word "after" when I'd earlier said "Ford accountants", implying a temporal relationship, with 4-pots coming later.Unfortunately I also fat-fingered the post and autocorrect went for "that" rather than "than" and I didn't notice.
>>28774681no they make their seats for manlets and womenhow can an adult human male back fit into that narrow seat?
>>28778812>adult in the back seatis that where he makes you sit?
>>28778849ESL failing to understand basic English is always funny
>>28775526They are decent cars, but maintenance is a bit more expensive. Dont expect a toyota that only needs cheap oil changes. Automatics were a lot more expensive and only came with the 5 cylinder engines. Ive had a 15 year old v50 which lasted me for 6 years until I upgraded to a v40 cross country. Had alternator and door locks fixed, no other issues. Drove a v70 t5 a few times but it felt much more outdated. Horrible turn radius. It had a lot more interior squeaks and rattles as well.>>28775529The ford platform (c1) was used to develop volvos own improved version of the platform (p1). The ford platform (ford focus etc) is known to be one of the best ones out there, and volvo simply improved it for their cars. The chassis for this car and the majority of its components were developed by Volvo.>>28775547How was the bus ride today?>>28777366>They never mastered the art of calibrating an auto 'box, and still haven'tThey did. It was the Aisin Warner torque converter that was the reliable one. When they used Fords own powershift gearbox for the new generations (around 2012), they got a bad name. Volvo stopped using those powershifts after 2015 (easy to spot, if it has a 1.6 or 2.0 (not to be confused with VEA 2.0) ecoboost engine and is automatic its a powershift gearbox)>>28778812Spotted the amerifat. Sat in a v90 at the stealership last month. Im 188cm, 82kg. Normal people fit just fine in these. Sat in a v90 at the stealership last month. Im 188cm, 82kg. Normal people fit just fine in these.
