Is that Ford Maverick? That nigga been on my mind, no cap. I've been thinking about getting one. I want a vehicle that can tow a side by side or a small boat but doesn't get horrible gas mileage and isn't like driving a gigantic boat in the city. So it's pretty much this or... nothing? A Ridgeline is nicer but more expensive and gets horrible MPG.
>>
>>28775020
These max out at a 4k lb tow which is realistically 2k lbs. The non hybrid AWD Mavs don't get much better fuel economy than a half ton or a Ridgeline.
>>
>>28775020
There's nothing you can two with this truck-shaped object that you couldn't tow with a plain old cuckover, or even a sedan with a hitch.
>>
hmm its ok
>>
>>28775025
Hybrid can get AWD and tow 4k lbs now
>>
>>28775031
Yeah and they're $50k+. Also that 4k lbs is still only 2k lbs in the real world. Sitting at 5k rpm for hours on end is going to get old real quick.
>>
>>28775028
It's basically an Escape with a wedge shape cut out of the back to make a decorative mini-bed.

Looks like you'd be able to get it in the 35k-40k range. I would go for a midsize with more usable tow capacity if I were in the market for a truck. There are also way more used midsizes where the Maverick is the only real option here.

Says who? You? What are your qualifications?
>>
>>28775041
It'll be more than that after they have their way with you. I know what these go for in the real world.
>I would go for a midsize with more usable tow capacity if I were in the market for a truck.
Because you're financially retarded.
>There are also way more used midsizes where the Maverick is the only real option here.
Move to a non-shithole?

Says somebody who tows. Says somebody with common sense. Says somebody who likes to do things safe and right. Pretty sure even they told you it's not a great idea to max tow these things. Just in case you didn't notice the truck begging for death towing a light load like that.

The vestigial bed looks like such shit. So shriveled and useless.
>>
>>28775099
Right? You may as well cover it up, close it in, and call it a Ford Escape.

Doesn't even look right with a bed cap. The proportions are just fucked.

Do not give in to this meme, Mavericks are actually shit. I hate driving them.

The bed isn't the problem, it's the round windshield giving the whole thing a clashing look. If it was more flat like the rest of the truck then it would look better.

I'm so fresh aerodynamics can suck my nuts

It's crossover and truck features are fighting each other.

>Ford engineers say it can tow 4k
>they are highly educated and skilled professionals working for a major automotive company
>Ford will be subject to massive lawsuits if it can't actually tow 4k
>trucks are the vast majority of Ford's business
>random boomers: "Actually, ignore Ford's engineers. It can only tow 2k. More like 1500 tops. Trust me, I've made quite a few trips to Home Depot in my F150. You're going to want a V8 Super Duty, at minimum, to tow a jetski"

Why are truckoids like this?
>>
>>28775308
Why use a semi tractor when a F-250 could easily haul the average dry van 53'?
>>
>>28775328
Because only cuckolds drive an F-series.

Most lawsuits are a slap on the wrist to these "too big to fail" mega corpos

They absolutely are not 50k. I have a 2025 XL hybrid AWD 4K tow w/ liner spray and I paid $34k for it, factory order.

They do not carry that spec on the lot and you have to order it. Otherwise they generally have FWD XL Hybrid base models in white or XLT/Lariat AWD hybrids with heated seat luxury package and other shit tacked on. The truck is $5k cheaper if you buy it as XL with steelies instead of XLT lux package. The cabin heats quickly, the higher packages don't make it less of a tin can or improve the audio system in any significant way, and in general just add weight. I just added chink seat covers and tuxmat floormats, you have to buy floormats because even in $10k up-trimmed on a Maverick you STILL don't get rear floor mats.

My mav weighs in at 3769lbs in XL form, a lariat with luxury packages is over 3900lbs and doesn't significantly change anything.

They CAN do 4k towing is the important part. No vehicle is comfortable at max tow, and anyone that REGULARLY towed 4k would just upsize to a bigger vehicle.

I've moved with my maverick already and I just rented a u-haul trailer and put ALL my shit in the bed + uhaul + cab in one trip, no problemo because it didn't come close to its limits. That's amazing that I can do with something that gets the mpg of a civic. I could even tow a tiny travel trailer with a shower and shitter with 500lbs to spare with it, maybe not super comfy but who moves that shit everyday? I CAN do it is the important part.

If it was my JOB to move 4000lbs everyday obviously I would buy a more appropriate vehicle like a frontier/ranger/f150. But this is my one vehicle, my dd that is not towing 4k daily.

>I don’t like the way it looks
>this makes it useless
Until around 2023 (maybe 2022; very recently), the Ford Ranger had under 48” between the wheel wells. Most truck advertisements would have you beleivew that you’ll usually just have to move bails of hay. But the reality is that the largest thing most people will ever haul in a truck bed is plywood.

You could t stack plywood or drywall flat in the bed of a Ford Ranger until fairly recently. And because of the nearly 48” spacing, if you stacked it in an angle (resting on the top of the tailgate; pain in the ass taking them out), you had to be VERY careful that they didn’t shift and end up sliding off of one wheel well.

It was mind boggling ly retarded. Did the engineers not know that >48” is the minimum standard? They could have done it but didn’t.

The Maverick is way smaller with way less space between the wheel wells but has no problem laying sheets of plywood flat in the bed. It was actually designed specifically for that purpose.

In this regard (that is, hauling the single largest item most homeowners will ever have to haul), it has a more useful bed than previous Rangers.

People on the internet love to just pull car prices out of their asses. It’s so fucking weird when we can just look up what these things cost.

Like you said, just order it and you pay MSRP. There’s no dealer markup because they don’t need to negotiate price and it’s not taking up space on their lot. I ordered mine in August of 2024 and paid what was listed on Fords website.

>Says somebody who tows. Says somebody with common sense.
I guess that supersedes a minimum of a 4 year automotive engineering degree and working as an engineer for however long before they're allowed to become a professional engineer and put their stamp on things to be approved for xyz usecase.

But forgive me, I didnt realize you have common sense, obviously that trumps any asme standards that have been built up over 100+ years of people dying, 100+ years of SAE standards being built up over people dying. I kneel before your common sense.

As a society, we should really just say fuck engineering standards. Its just a conspiracy. let's just send people to the moon with common sense because anon tows his mom's fat ass around.
>>
>>28775506
It’s not just engineering, but an actual test (SAE J2807; yes, I had to look it up). Vehicles are underrated for safety, not overrated to sell them.

I’d guess the biggest thing holding back the Maverick is its wheelbase and weight. It could also be that the hybrid is rated much lower than it could be, as the Ecoboost might have issues with the duty cycle of the cooling system and it’s transmission being a live hand grenade.

>hey look, these guys towed something for 1 afternoon to make a 20 minute youtube video
>therefore it's definitely a capable towing machine
