I think I'm going to buy a classic Pontiac Catalina 4dr Sedan. 41 yr old boomer wanting a nonelectric family hauler. These all died for our entertainment in destruction derbies.
So many good solid cars scrapped or just destroyed first. Sad thinking about now.
I think im gonna go ahead and get it. Save it.
>>28775032>>28775027Do it. Saving a cool old shitbox that people haven't learned tk value yet is fun and rewarding. No matter what people think of it now, it will eventually be recognized as a cherished survivor.
Big old barges are god tier, nothing beats them on the highway. All new luxury cars are about stability and handling, fuck that. What's a corner
>>28775354These aren't even that bad for handling either considering today's standards are based on fat crossovers
Im gonna do it. Its two states over though. Will be the longest trip I've ever done for anything besides vacation. Hopefully ill have it this weekend or next.
>>28775024I love these 4 door barges more than the 2 door couple, for a start they are bigger and that means they are better.i watched a demo derby and it was just way more boring than I expected, its just banging metal against each other.>>28775027America compared to other countries has saved an insane amount of these old cars, they are still all over the place hidden and likely more cars than people who want them.
>>28775024I'd personally go for a 70's lincoln sedan. The leather is some of the best ever used in cars, they're extra big, and the mechanicals are all truck parts
>>28775554I am vehemently anti Ford and Dodge. Although the Lincolns are nice. I passed on a 68 Cadillac 60 special. That would be nice, but i think too nice for me. I love the basic utility of the Pontiac. I dont want flashiness, just comfortable durability. >>28775503There are actually much fewer of these land yatchs than you think. There are quite a few of the later smaller sized sedans, like 78 Bonnevilles and shit, but thats when everything really went cheap and shitty. Early 70s is comfy and torquey. I dont need 400hp but i do need 400tq. With these, i could get hitch and bigger rear end gears and be able to tow almost as much as my truck. Demo derbies are boring to watch but fun to be in. Requirements were almost always 70s or older 4 doors.
>>28775606>passed on a 68 CadillacCadillac spent their money on exclusive power trains and features while lincoln focused on the materials more. Cadillacs were better new, lincolns are better used.I understand being anti ford due to ford bullshit but if you want a cheap classic fords are the way. GMs are lovely but overpriced and all of them have rusty roofs
We'll see what happens. Im gonna make the 430mi trip, hopefully the frame rails and windshield channels aren't cancerous. Dont know if i feel like hauling home scrap metal.
>>28775024here's mine. it was sittng outside disintegrating, idk what would have happened to it. now it's safe in a garage and one day I'll have it fixed up as good as new.

>>28775355Yeah but I mean modern luxury cars feel stiff and lack that floating on a cloud in a lounge suite feel. Modern luxury wins out for rnv and sound deadening with thicker glass and what not though
