Which manufacturer makes the best EV sedan?
It must be between these two I imagine.
The Lucid Air can be had in the low $70k range which is about $10k below the base Model S.

Lucid has the better interior and probably a better chassis
>>
>>28775446
Lucid unfortunately has jeet tier software.
>>
>>28775446
im sure if you drove them back to back the lucid would probably feel 5 years newer, which to an extent it is, because the last model S refresh was about 5 years ago now

where the lucid will fall flat imo is in long term ownership. tesla has massive momentum in charging infrastructure, parts network, and brand identity. lucid doesnt have a service network in most areas, they dont have any real long term plans for profitability, theyre just coasting on saudi money for now. so what will happen if the saudis pull out, or suddenly the Chinese are allowed to sell in the US, or the BMW Neue Klasse comes out. will they have captured enough of the market by then to stay relevant?
>>
>>28775459
>BMW Neue Klasse
God you are so fucking obvious every time you try and shill this shit. Nobody gives a shit about BMW. Their new EV is going to fail like every single other luxury EV has failed for exact same reasons these EVs failed.

Stop fucking shilling this stupid shit.

define "best"

the i7 brutally mogs all the rest in comfort and luxury, which ofc it does because its a proper german flagship luxobarge. well, you know, aside from the RR specter, if that even counts, but that's a 400k car.

the taycan is easily the best dynamically, being a porsche. its also very well built, but obviously not as comfy as the proper luxobarge that is the i7

the lucid is very good dynamically and currently is the fastest in a straight line, and its very well optimized for space in the interior

the model s is ofc the model s. the plaid is ridiculously fast, but it can't touch the porsche in the corners. and it obviously can't touch the i7 in comfort and materials and sound proofing and what not

where the model s wins hands down is software, especially FSD which nobody else really has. and for me, that alone is enough to make it a non-brainer. ofc, the rest of the software stack is also a big advantage, since you have to interact with that shit all the time, but really, fsd is the deciding factor.
in the past couple of years its gone from more or less the same as bluecruise/etc other adas to ok, that shit actually does ALL the driving ALL the time. especially the most recent v14 update. and for me, no amount of sound proofing or better quality leather or cornering ability is enough to give that up.

obv i'd pick the taycan over it for fun drives in mountain roads, but how much of that are you going to be doing, realistically? and, if you are going to be doing that shit frequently, wouldn't you rather do eg model s + a miata instead of just a taycan? because you can easily manage that for a similar cost.
and again, vs the i7, obv the latter is objectively comfier for long road trips and what not, esp for rear passengers, but is it comfier enough to make up for having to actually do the driving? i think not

so, yea, unless you're dead set against fsd, model s is the answer imo. otherwise, either i7 for comfort or taycan for sportiness

not a bmw shill, i own a ford

but yeah probably, the neue klasse is a very ambitious project, theyre trying to do more than they should. it’s basically attempting to reinvent the car. its more likely than not that itll fail. my point was rather that once other OEMs enter this space, will Lucid have a chance? people said the same thing about Tesla, “once Ford GM enter the affordable EV market theyre toast.” but two things are different, 1) by the time the Hummer and Lightning launched in 2021 tesla was almost profitable, with downmarket models like the Y and 3 churning volume, while Lucid is far from it. 2) a sizable portion of luxury buyers want the prestige that comes with owning a BMW/mercedes/audi, and the high end car market is already a small one

Lucid has the best hardware of any EV, hands down. They have the best efficiency, they have the best range, their car is the most fun to drive of all the EVs (including the Taycan) according to everybody who has driven both that I've ever seen talk about them, and it also has the most optimized interior space of any EV. It is just head and shoulders the best car of any EV made to date, to the point to where it actually directly competes with ICE cars in its class like the CT5 V-Blackwing and Panamera and other similar super sedans.

What it lacks is software. Lucid's software is not great. You can't even do hands free driving with it because it's safety and assisted driving suite feels an entire generation behind the rest of the competition's. So it comes down to what do you want -- a car that is legitimately fun to drive and has the best efficiency on the market, or do you want Tesla's software suite and potential future promise of full FSD? You'll never get FSD in a Lucid, you'll see legitimately Chevy doing that before Lucid does with the rate they're going.

You'd be shocked how close the Taycan Tubo GT is with the Lucid Air Sapphire on tracks. The Taycan does win, but not by nearly as much as you think. The Lucid is way more nimble than you'd expect given its size.
>>
>>28775508
imo there's no real reason to consider the lucid
if you care about luxury/comfort/space, the i7 mogs it
if you care about driving pleasure, the taycan mogs it
if you care about tech/software, the tesla mogs it, even without taking fsd into consideration. which, if you do, the tesla mogs all of them pretty hard.
if you care about value, used teslas mog it so hard its not even funny. never mind 70k, you can get used model y LRs in the 20s and used model Ss in the 40s all day long
and if you care about interior space, well, obviously the way to go is not a sedan. model x, escalade iq, ev9, etc etc, all those offer shitloads more passenger and cargo space than any sedan ever could

oh, and on top of all that, you have the uncertainty of not knowing if lucid is even going to be a thing 5 years from now. lucid still hasn't had their model 3 moment. remember fisker?

so, yea, rip the lucid. its not a bad car in theory, but right now, given the alternatives that exist and the future uncertainty for the brand, its a pretty retarded option
what im really looking forward is to see who ends up buying the brand, because you're right, they DO have some impressive stuff going on. i don't think their motors or motor software is anything special, tho it is up there with tesla, but their space optimization is top notch, and i'd hate to see that know-how being lost/wasted.

>You'd be shocked how close the Taycan Tubo GT is with the Lucid Air Sapphire on tracks
the sapphire costs as much as a fully loaded taycan, its slower (around a track, im aware its marginally faster in a quarter mile), its worse in build quality and materials, it has worse suspension (the fancy suspension in the taycan is probably the best in the world right now), worse chassis (no, lucid did not out-chassis porsche.) and unlike porsche, there's a real chance the brand won't even be around for long.
>>
>>28775518
>if you care about luxury/comfort/space, the i7 mogs it
>if you care about driving pleasure, the taycan mogs it
I don't agree with either of these statements. The Lucid has way more space than the i7, it's not even a competition, the fact that you bring it up really tells me you don't know anything about the Lucid. You could live in that car it is so huge. And as far as driving pleasure, every single reviewer I've ever seen who has been in both prefers the Lucid and thinks it is more fun. The Lucid drives like a front engine RWD V8 car. The Porsche drives like a Porsche -- very good, but extremely clinical. Most people think FR V8's are more fun to drive than Porsches.

Honestly the Taycan is not even a viable car. It is downright tiny, it has awful range, and its tiny advantage on the track does not matter because you can't actually track either of these cars. Both of them have their batteries overheating after 2 laps because EVs with consumer grade batteries are not designed to handle the thermal temps that racing generates. The only advantage the Taycan has over the Lucid is the Porsche name, and even that can only go so far because the Lucid actually holds resale value better than the Taycan does.
>>
>>28775532
>The Lucid has way more space than the i7, it's not even a competition
there's a point where more rear knee room stops being a benefit. once you can sit 2 nba players behind each other and have them both sitting cross legged comfortably, do you need more? imo no.
the lucid might offer more space on paper, but the i7 is far superior in overall comfort, refinement, materials, build quality, sound proofing, everything. oh, also head room, tho both of them are very acceptable in that regard.
come on, you can't seriously expect anyone to believe that the air is more comfy and luxurious than a fucking 7 series, right?

>And as far as driving pleasure, every single reviewer I've ever seen who has been in both prefers the Lucid
who, savagegeese? that dude has a massive lucid hard-on(/sponsorship deal)
but, whatever, lets just say that this is a subjective metric, maybe some people do prefer it. do a test drive of both and decide

>the Taycan is not even a viable car.
wat?

>It is downright tiny
the taycan is model x sized, aka very comfy up front, but not that comfy in the back. it fine for kids and/or females, but it definitely fails the 2 nba player test

>it has awful range
not the recent one, its a proper 300+ mile ranger. charges fast too. the first version, yes, not adequate.

>and its tiny advantage on the track does not matter because you can't actually track either of these cars. Both of them have their batteries overheating after 2 laps
absolutely not, one of the main selling points of it is that it can actually do laps. not many, mind you, because batteries are finite and driving it like that will deplete them pretty quickly, but it doesn't overheat

>The only advantage the Taycan has over the Lucid is the Porsche name
also build quality and materials and suspension and chassis and outright perf (again, outside of quarter miles) and software and also the knowledge that the brand will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.

>You can't even do hands free driving
Why in hell would you want to do that?
>>
>>28775446
i4 and M3 are the only ones worth looking at these days
Maybe a Model S if you find a good deal on a used one
>>
>>28775587
>Why in hell would you want to do that?
It is unfortunately amazing for both long highway drives and bullshit in-city driving
>>
>>28775446
Tesla has hardware the is thoroughly battle tested now. Lucid is still struggling with hardware because they dont know what they dont know.
Tesla has software that is leagues above everyone else.
Tesla has a large selection of shops now.
Tesla has self driving capability that is beyond anything else.
And is priced competitively in the market.

Lucid's advantage is that its got slightly faster drive train and is priced around Model S without offering other benefits.
>>
Model S can drive its self.
Lucid Air can not.
There's not much else to say about which is better, unless you're so loaded that you can afford your own chauffeur.

personally, i think it looks like utter shit, i'd only ever consider it in full black just to hide its ugliness
but alas, if you want a proper luxury sedan with an EV drivetrain, is basically the only option (again, leaving the RR out)
obv the eqs doesn't fucking count, its utter shit, and not just in looks.

(same anon you replied to, btw)

Me? Waiting for 3 series on latest BMW platform. But if I wasn't I'd get the 2026 version of Model 3. Tesla is slowly unfucking its cars. Rust is still an issue though if you are somewhere with salty roads.

>>28775446
LCID had better tech and a better look, and they were going for the higher end market but their original CEO was a loser who basically killed the company. I would not bother touching any of their stuff now.
