Hello /o/nons

I have never posted here so pardon me if I don't know the etiquette of the board.

I'm looking to either get a 2025 Mustang Ecoboost or a 2025 Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo. I haven't found any other cars besides this that really scratch my itch. Would appreciate if you guys had any anecdotes or advice.

I really like the feel of the Mustang, but I am worried about parking such a long and wide car. The K4 doesn't have as much power but it feels really comfortable and maneuverable, and a great interior. I live in Ohio so it only snows a few times a year, occasionally it can be pretty bad though. If I get the Mustang I'd probably get some expensive winter tires that I can swap out. I also havent had a mustang for 10 years, and that was only a 98 which had probably half the horsepower of the 25, so I am worried I won't be able to handle it well. I did some test driving and it feels awesome but I don't really know what to do to ease my anxiety.

sorry for newfagging, and yes of course it will be red
>>
have you considered a k5 gt?
>>
>>28775571
Yeah I really liked it but it’s a little out of my price range unless I can get it for 31-32 otd. I figure dealerships are pushing to get their k4s out more
>>
>>28775570
The mustang is only 4 inches longer and 3 inches wider, which isnt much.
Based on your post you seem to have already decided on the kia, since you avoided talking much about why you actually want the mustang.
Most everyone is going to tell you to just buy the v8 if you're going to bother with the mustang. In your situation, the better interior and ride quality of the kia will be easier to appreciate in the long term.
>>
>>28775575
I can’t really explain why I want the mustang but I’ve always loved them and it was my first car. I love the way it feels but I don’t know how to put it into words. I’m just worried that I’ll scratch it or I’ll have issues parking it.
>>
>>28775576
Im assuming you really only have the luxury of owning 1 car atm.
Owning the mustang in this case is going to likely just stress you out. Door dings, rock chips, etc are almost inescapable in a daily driver. You like the mustang but cant explain why, yet every practical reason you cite is in favor of the kia.
Its pretty clear what the choice should be here. If you really love old Mustangs, just buy an old one as a weekend car. An ecoboost is just going to give you a pang of shame every time you get in it because you bought the rental spec instead of the v8.

If i were you on a 30k budget, I would just buy a 2016 or newer mustang GT and get a set of winter wheels and tires. The v8 mpg is barely worse than the eco. As for size, new cars all have backup cameras anyway so parking is piss easy.
>>
>>28775582
Thanks for the advice, you’re probably right. I don’t mind not having a v8 though. The most hp in a car I’ve had is like 210 so I don’t think I’m ready for that.
>>
>>28775584
I think having the humility to know you have to act responsibly with a 400hp+ daily is a good sign that you could handle it, but the temptation will always be there. The coyote Mustangs are close to the practical limit for most people in terms of streetable power, and I've had some friends get themselves and others killed driving them.

That said, imo its better to aim high and treat yourself rather than get locked into a worse, slower car and wish you got the higher trim. Id say either go full adult mode and buy the kia, or do yourself a real favor and get the GT. In this case is think the ecoboost is a bad half-measure.

You are all retarded. This thread is just a stealth Kia shill. OP is pretending to cross shop two vehicles NOBODY would ever consider in the same thought.

I'll spell it out for you:
>OP posts a car people actually like (mustang)
>also includes a Kia (read: disposable shit heap)
>pretends to like the Mustang but magically all his needs are better met by the K4
>the implication is "gee wiz, Kia's really are neato! surely a better purchase than a mustang

The entire premise of the thread is dumb because the Mustang is not a large car. Nobody with a valid license would have trouble parking it.
>>
>>28775732
>The entire premise of the thread is dumb because the Mustang is not a large car.
But its physically larger than the kia in both length and width.
>>
>>28775739
So? A Camry is larger than a Corolla, but that doesn't make the Camry difficult to park. Stop being retarded.
>>
>>28775570
I'd get a V8 mustang, a lightly used one is fine too.
Don't worry about power. It's 30% heavier as the '98, has better tires, and traction control.p,@Za
>>
>>28775739
>>28775741
Yes this is silly, parking spots are sized for 1 ton trucks.
Mustang is a compact.
>>
>>28775741
>A Camry is larger than a Corolla, but that doesn't make the Camry difficult to park
It can depending on where you live. Thats why smart cars, fiat 500s, BMW i3, and other subcompact hatchbacks exist and usually sell the most units in large cities. There is a market demand for small cars in cities because owning larger cars there can be a pain in the ass to park and generally maneuver. 3-4 inches of extra car on all sides, which in this case applies to the mustang, can make that more difficult.
>>
>>28775745
>smart cars, fiat 500s, BMW i3
I used to drive those cars when I was young and poor. I have no issues parking a Kodiak in Rome or Vienna instead of a 500s.
And you live in Ohio, where parking spots are big enough to land a cessna.
You concern is silly.
>>
>>28775757
Im not op, I dont personally give a shit about how big my cars are, though i have owned some cars where steering angle and maneuverability could make them a pain in the ass to move in a tight space.
Im just explaining how someone could reasonably cross shop a Kia and an ecoboost mustang but have concerns about one of them being bigger. Just because its fine for you doesnt mean everyone is thinking the same way.
>>
>>28775757
>ohio doesn't have cities
>>
OP here

It seems my post has caused some controversy. I am not a shill and I’m still leaning to the 2025 ecoboost but now I’m worried I won’t be able to buy one below at most 32 otd, and I don’t think I’d be happy with a Kia besides the k5 gt so I might end up buying used which I wasn’t looking to do. Still worried about the extra horsepower on a gt though so I might not go for that. Why do buying your first car gotta be so stressful
>>
>>28775802
I recommend buying it before the end of the year. Dealerships / sales people are more willing to negotiate if they're behind on their quota. You might end up with a great deal if they're stressing about moving enough units to hit their bonus.
>>
>>28775802
Cars generally are just stressful. Owning high-production, low cost but reliable shitboxes you care little about beyond maintenance is a good way to avoid the stress that comes with cars. My advice is keep the one you really care about in the garage and only drive it when its nice, and focus on your daily being functional, reliable and comfortable.
For someone like you who presumably doesnt have the luxury of a space to maintain a shitbox fleet, getting a car that can do it all is your best bet.
In this case, the GT is faster, will cost less than a new ecoboost, will be more reliable and get marginally worse gas mileage than the eco. I personally dont get the desire to buy new. Let someone else take the depreciation hit.
>>
>>28775807
I’ve only looked into buying new and I need to buy one before next year, otherwise if I prepared more to negotiate a used I probably would

And it feels stupid to buy a GT without first doing some kind of performance driving course. And I’d need to get something new enough to have parking sssist features too
>>
>>28775570

If buying new then the ecoboost. The base mustang is unironically one of the only good value propositions in the car market these days. Comparable price and mileage to new 'economy' cars like corolla or civic, and at the same time faster drags than anything south of 45k, too. Also, the benefit of not having to deal with gook-tier mechanical gremlins.
I'd suggest buying used though. Cadillac CTS/ATS, Infinity G37, any BMW sedan with the M57, N52, S54, or B58 engines (don't get it mixed up), any Mercedes sedan with the M113 engine, Bentley Continental, Mustang GT; all with examples findable for under 15k.
>>
>>28775802

For traction reserves, it's all about your rubbers. A set of good quality tyres can completely transform your driving experience (and a set of cheap amazon specials can completely ruin it, as the case may be).
I'd suggest PZero PZ5's for the summer and Ultragrip Performance 3's for winter, or PZero AS+3's if you don't want two sets of wheels. (For rims I suggest Enkei J10's.)

For people worried about dings, the 'obvious' thing to do would be plastic protective films, but the market is kinda stupid in that good ppfs are overpriced in the thousands of dollars for professional application, while cheap vinyl films can be more trouble than they're worth.
Best thing to do is buy some 'anti-graffiti' clearcoat, which are water-cured urethanes formulated to be durable and chemically resistant, such as Mastercoat AG111 or VandlGuard IsoFree. It's clearcoat so you don't need to stress too much about perfect application. Clean with 95+% isopropyl alcohol, scuff with 800 grit paper (I suggest Makita BO6050J or Festool Rotex; you don't want to do this by hand unless your time is worthless), spray or roll on the clear coat, apply 1-3 layers in accordance with manufacturer's directions, depending on how much protection you want, scuff with 800 grit paper or M105 cutting compound, polish with ultimate compound, done.
That way any time you get a scratch, you can just buff it out and reapply more clearcoat again.
>>
>>28775821
>And I’d need to get something new enough to have parking sssist features too
Hang yourself from the nearest tree.

This. Same with American and German cars too.
>>
>>28778796
Objectively, Japanese cars are the best. The only reason people defend cars from other countries on here is a weird sunk cost mentality and trying to defend their purchase, or they're nationalistic and their country relies on welfare employment at car factories, as no one in their right mind would be a SEAT or a Skoda if they had other real options.

Not really. They are only the most reliable, nothing else. If you want fast, luxurious, capable, or cool, there's always a German or American car that does it better than a Jap shitbox.

Personally, I bought a 2006 diesel Golf as a daily because it was cheaper and is nicer than the equivalent Corolla. Only major costs was a clutch and DMF replacement at 200k km.

i just shift it manually ~ 60% of the time and keep it in a low gear
it's definitely a bit rough but it goes fine as long as you keep it above 3500 rpm

it is real it just kinda sucks for low end torque and passing power
but you couldn't get skid plates with the hybrid
maybe someday ill pay someone to put a v6 in it

It's not worth it to engine swap that car anon, that's why I said just buy a different one. Hell, just get the diesel if you want low-end torque and passing power. Trust me, they're great for that and they get better fuel economy than the petrol. Usually they're more reliable too, but I have zero experience with any of the Korean diesels.
