If i was made out of money id probably do the same. I do have a g29 laying around that I could use for gt7 but I dont really wanna go back to a gear driven wheel, and the game isn't good enough for me to want to do that.

I have enough dough laying around that I have a Fanatec DD+ that I didn't sell and use it occasionally for my PS5 running GT7.
Being fairly honest, the force feedback in GT7 for Direct drive bases is nowhere near as dialed as in PC sims so it really just feels like a heavier/dampened T300 with no road feel or sufficient feedback that warrants using a DD in Gran Turismo.
I highly suggest the T-GT II over any direct drive since it was made in conjunction with GT7's development and actually gives more feedback

Beam is more fun. They just need to bring the tire update. AC copelets will nerd out about driving on the limit, but in beam im just driving cars like I stole them and its hilariously FUN which is the key point of gaming

Just noticed that there's no codriver in the car on that track.

I'm not sure about Alpine. I really don't like that its setup is so limited, but it drives well when you get used to it. It's extremely rear heavy. I'm running extra lights all the time because of it. Placebo, probably.
I can't figure tire pressures as well. Rears heat up quickly. I've experimented with M at back, and with high and low pressures, but I just can't figure what is faster.

max ride height front — 0.125m back
lowest possible spring stiffness all around
front arb 9500 — back arb 13000
center diff = 35/50 — preload 0.0 — plates 6
32 psi all tires (because of softer springs)

the rest default

I'm not sure if it's faster, but it's much more forgiving on mistakes, and easier to cut corners with.

I can do that same run, move for move in ac with slicks. Also in beam with beam's tire model, fillman's and the tire physics mod im using in that clip. I dont think it really matters. You cant simulate driving accurately without real g forces. Either way its fun to slide cars around in real life and in the sims.
>>
>>28778385
you are dumb
the real g-forces are interacting with the vehicle body in a fully realistic manner. Just because you can't feel them doesn't mean its not there. It's not a necessity either. It is more important that your inputs are precise. Now I get it's a lot easier to feel out that precision I'm a real car but you do it the same way in a sim by observing the inertia reaction of the driver camera. The only game, imo, that successfully conveys g-forces through cam movement alone is rfactor. Iracimg does an okay job too but rf2s driver head cam is god tier. Everything else is either kind of uncanny like beam or nonexistent without mods like ac.
Flying around Bryce Canyon in RF1 or 2 in an F1 car actually feels like you're being forced into the seat on the descent, especially if you use vr.

the trick is you need to kind of already drive hard irl so your brain has a point of reference. I don't think it's a good idea to add fake gees like motion rigs do because being tilted and having centripetal force of a car turning acting on your entire body are two entirely separate sensations.
>>
File: ACProSK8R.webm (2.06 MB, 720x480)

The difference between ac and beam is that ac cars are more like skateboards than cars and are less difficult to get over the gutter. Beam has actual suspension and has better weight shift feel so it takes more driving technique to actually keep the weight off of the front inner wheel.
>>
>>28778397
>113 mph in a sim turn
>cant feel the tires talking
>not being pushed to one side of my seat
>cant feel fast elevation changes
There is alot of cope in the sim racing world for whatever reason about how realistic it is. Its more like driving rc cars than actual cars.
>>
The biggest difference is in sims you have to react once the tires already lost grip.
In real life you feel it in your butt way earlier making drifting so much easier
>>
>>28778418
and these motion sims are a meme. they can’t reproduce accurate G forces. They just add a bit of sensation.
t. tried them at sim racing expo Dortmund
>>
>>28778429
Yeah, I almost fell for the meme and was going to do one of the diy kits. Are they a meme for flight sims or say some sort of mech fighting game?
>>
>>28778423
if you are reacting after the fact you have already lost
a good driver knows what the car will do before it does it, before even a butt feel enjoyer can even react. a proactive driver will always beat a reactive driver.
>>
>>28778418
>cant feel the tires talking
fix your ffb settings and sound volume levels. you can always hear it before you feel it.

>not being pushed to one side of my seat
irrelevant distraction, useless information. You already know you are turning, you are turning the wheel.
>cant feel fast elevation changes
wrong, you can feel them thru the camera motion, this is part of what makes rfactor games feel so good to drive. You can literally feel the car moving under you psychosomatically.

AC with badly configured ffb does feel like shit and I've never been able to get it to feel right with a DD wheel. It felt great on my old belt and gear driven wheels though. That's why I moved onto rF2/LMU and iRacing since they just work and dont need hours of tinkering. They feel nothing like RC cars. I had a zoomer on my race team once who didn't have a ffb wheel (vibration motors only), and he couldn't keep it on track because he had no idea what the car was doing thanks to the lack of ffb.

Good news! The ovg xmas fun time is this weekend, 27th evening GMT with maybe expansion on the 28th same timeslot with a variety of little games to play some free some not some you probably could find for free all cheap on sale on steam right now. Everyone is welcome, no pressure, game and mod download links will be up soon as I mirror stuff around. Might switch to a cracked rf2 install too.

Feel free to suggest more things to do that I may add to the list if I feel like it and it's funny.

I don't like how racing game modding is all paywalled behind patreon garbage. Only other game genres that do this are chinkoids selling gooner outfits for gacha games.
>>
>>28778619
Fuck you, pay me.
>>
>>28778619
its because racing game modding doesnt have a tight knit community since its mostly just "add this car i want", anybody can download a model off the internet and haphazardly slap it onto the games chassis system and charge 30 bucks and see minimal complaints
>>
>>28778619
Modding for simulators is different than reskins and custom scripts. You have to put real development time, research and testing into delivering a good sim because any individual piece of content depends on numerous independent systems working cohesively together. Microsoft flight Sim is a decent example of this; they sell modules (planes) on their store front, most of which are developed by third party companies and with various levels of fidelity. In some cases, you actually need to read the manual to understand how to fly the plane. Developing that takes real time and expertise and thus money. No surprise, the best sellers tend to be the most fleshed out and polished builds.
>>
>>28778629
I'm a casual msfs player and I found more than enough free mods to have my fun. Neofly is a career add-on that actually adds an actual game to the sim for example and while they do have a paid version it's mostly to add fluff like employees to your company and other stuff. I still paid for it because I liked it so much but I just hate it when it's actually gatekept.
I understand a dude spending months to model his local airport and wanting 10 bucks for it since it's very niche.
I don't know it rubs me the wrong way. Back then all the gameplay mods were made for the love of the games and while patreon wasn't a thing it was always expected for them to be free. The career mod for AC is paid, the blender plugin that just came out to make it easier to create maps is paid, CM is paid if you don't want to pull your hair out to host a server.
It's not even the amount (I mean the amount of cash we spend on rigs and cars is ridiculous as it is) but the mindset is rotten. Feel taken advantage off you know and more importantly to me it splits communities even more.
>>
>>28778637
I dont necessarily disagree with you, I was just explaining the rationale behind it. Empire at war for example has many total conversion projects that have been in development for over a decade at this point, touching or rebuilding every system and asset you can access above source code level. They do it purely for adoration of the IP and the community.
In general I dont disagree with the concept of selling your mod work if people want to pay for it, but the idea of selling mods just to make a game feature complete; like a career mode, or in the case of MSFS selling paid mods that fix the heights of trees, water tables or janky map artifacts from photogrammetry is definitely retarded.
>>
>>28778629
True, but racing games like AC are barely simulators and most if not all the paid stuff is dogshit stolen from forza and encrypted by some nigger after adding random bullshit so the pictures look good.

I make cars I automation then spend hours driving them all over the map in beam. Extremely satisfying and highly recommend.

Ive seen sim racer kids get absolutely mercilessly shit on by dudes racing on mouse and keyboard. The elitism around sim equipment is fucking retarded. Were it not for getting a rig in a trade id have never justified the purchase because its ultimately just a fun toy. The entire idea is built around an experience that even a money-no-object sim rig cannot replicate.

AMS2 has good ffb sure, but the physics are dreadful. It's the opposite problem that AC has.
