What is even the point of this brand? It's a crappy premium brand and it's a crappy budget brand. The past 10 years of Volkswagen has been endless mediocrity as the rest of the car world keeps ramping up new fun models. If you want premium, why bother with Volkswagen when Audi, Mercedes and BMW exists? If you want budget, why bother with Volkswagen when Kia and Japanese brands exist? Why bother with Volkswagen EVs when they're obscenely overpriced for what they offer?I just don't understand this brand. It feels like a relic from a time where Germany just dominated the world and nobody ever considered buying anything else. Maybe they were always overrated and I just got more cynical.
>I just don't understand this brand. VW itself doesn't understand it either. That's why they make mediocre cars and have practically no marketshare in America.
>>28775720Because you can get a manual transmission econobox for $20k, and the dealerships are desperate to sell them to you instead of demanding that you suck their cock first. Honda dealerships outright refused to tell me how much they wanted for a manual civic sport hatchback with a manual transmission in 2023. VW won't use CVTs. They will sell you what they have, and they won't ask you to pay extra for the pleasure of doing so. I <3 VW.
VAGs have the worst engineering. They're cheap for a reason.
>>28775720You're angery because you think Eurocuck = better. In reality, VW is nothing more than Euro Hyundai.

>>28775720it used to be a premium enthusiast brand until it was hijacked by sjws and neoliberal faggot who couldn't care less about VWs or cars in general. very sad what they did to it.
>>28775754>Because you can get a manual transmission econobox for $20kyou can't though, they've discontinued all their manuals in the US market.
>>28775879No, they didn't. You can get a Jetta, which is built in Mexico and hasn't discontinued the manual. It's the only econobox at that price that you can get in manual. What is discontinued are the German-built cars, but those are even more expensive after the tariffs, which the Mexican cars are not subject to.
>>28775970only the Jetta GLI has a manual, and it's 10k more than the base Jetta.
>>28775720Piƫch's era was so good for both market segments that people would rather buy rusty golfs and passats from that era than get any close to the current day crap.
>>28775720I like the way their cars look compared to most cars coming out now. Volkswagens don't look like they're angry and trying to eat me.
>>28776018Well, that's fucked. In 2023, at least, you could get one, and you still may if you want a used one. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicle/754110065
