Do dealers not negotiate on price anymore? I was looking at a 2026 Civic hatchback and the MSRP is $33,495, sticker is $34,211. I've been back and forth with the sales rep but he won't budge a cent. I was hoping to get it below 33k.
>>
>>28775773
You're lucky if you can get anything without $10000 in "market adjustment" nowadays.
>>
>>28775773
Honda dealers usually won't bargain. If you want to play that game go to a GM dealership.
>>
>>28775773
if you visit the tesla subreddits, there's very frequent threads of the "i literally bought this only because FUCK dealers" variety.
can't say i don't share those sentiments.
>>
>>28775773
Your problem is that you went to Honda. Both Honda and Toyota have no incentive to negotiate with anyone because their brands are strong and they have built great reputations with their customers. So they know that they can filter you out without issue, they know you're either gonna come back and pay full price, or someone else will within the month.

You negotiate with brands that are not popular or with vehicles that don't sell. Doing it with a Honda Civic is retarded. You negotiate with Hyundai's, Kia's, GM's, Ford's, etc.
>>
you need cash money for this to work.
put 30k in cash in front of the sales rep and he won’t say no
>>
>>28775773
Honda dealers suck generally.
>>
>>28775811
What a fucking boomer loser logic, The dealer doesn't want you to pay cash. They want you to finance. They're even less enticed to let you pay bellow MSRP is you tell them you have 30K in cash. They're just gonna try and talk you into a smaller 5K 3 year loan instead of a 35K 5-7 year one.
>>
>>28775773
Look at the lot.
If there's 50 Civics on the lot, you're more likely to get a deal compared to one that has 10
>>
>>28775773
I got a Type R for MSRP with no fees back when the market was worse.

The problem is that you need to go to like 10 dealerships, especially ones out of cities and large suburbs.

My local dealer straight up told me 10k over MSRP. I showed him the MSRP offer, he told me they can do 5k over MSRP and I should take it because it's local.

So people who are saying you can't get a non-Si/R Civic for MSRP are full of shit, but there is a tradeoff on time and your cortisol levels.

I have/had a backup car, so I could just be super chill. Just to be clear I did 0 bullshit, no test drives, no whatever.

Like "Hi, I want the car for MSRP, will sign today" and they didn't waste too much time. The ones who weren't willing to do it told me to fuck off within 5-10 minutes max, because they understood they had 0 leverage but also made it clear they don't give a fuck to even pretend with me.

>>28775811
See: >>28775818. I paid cash. they hate this, they make like 2-5k on financing.
>>
You negotiate on the basis you're going to use their financing but work on the nominal price hard. Then, at the last minute once you get the price in writing, you shitcan the financing and pay for it in full.

They will drop the price if they think you're a dupe and will pay for a decade's worth of monthly payments.
>>
>>28775811
>you need cash money for this to work.
post from 1964
if a dealer start selling cars for cash, it'll get the franchise revoked
>>
Only idiots pay sticker price. What you do is say you'll finance at 11.9% if they will meet you at MSRP and at the first payment you pay the car off in full.
>>
>>28775775
how many new cars have you bought recently?
>>
>>28775883
can you do that
>>
>>28775916
Just look at the fine print on the loan to see that there's no penalties for paying off earlier. If there's none there's really nothing stopping you from going there and playing coy to get the price you want only to fuck them in the ass later.
>>
>>28775916
depends on how the loan is structured, many times they will throw in early payment penalties if you pay off before a certain timeframe.
>>
>>28775919
>>28775926
>early payment penalties
jesus christ that's jewish
>>
>>28775927
Well, did you expect the jew to just lay there on the desk, pull his own pants down, and spread his own butt cheeks so that you can fuck him in the ass?
>>
>>28775811
millenials can't comprehend that this really does still work
done it with my most recent 2 cars and most recent 2 motorcycles, both times succesfully
>Look, this is all the cash I have
>*pulls out enormous wad of money*
>do you want it or no?
answer is ALWAYS yes. They would prefer financing, but they can always do that to the next guy who walks through the door.
>>
>>28775954
You need to be 18 to post in here.
>>
>>28775916
They pretend you can't because they only make the kickback if the loan is active for over 6 months, but actually you can give the bank their money back
>>
>saving 500 on a $33k purchase
Why, who does this? Is it really worth the time and headache?
>>
>>28775966
Think of all the beer that $500 could buy.
>>
>>28775773
Honda dealerships are the literal worst thing you can visit. They overprice everything, try to gouge you, and worst of all, won't even try to give you an accurate price over the phone or email. Don't buy a Honda if you have any self-respect.
>>
>>28775982
The stark reality is that everything else is either way more soulless or dogshit reliability
>>
>>28775894
Disgusting salesman hands typed this post. Angry your last sale walked out the door?
>>
>>28775811
I unironically have done this trick in 2023 for a 2022 model toyota. I laid out 25k cash for a 28.5k car, and literally said "this is 25 thousand. Do you want to make a sale today? If we can't, ill just go now." he played pissy pants and said he can't budge, so i started taking the money off the table, silent as he was trying to convince me of all the bullshit reasons of the price. He finally shit himself, started the bullshit " talk with manager" in the back, and got it down to 26k which i was happy with. I paid 25k in literal cash, and 1k off my card.

It actually does work as a mental trick when they see physical bands of cash laid out on the office table. It adds some pressure for them to close a sale.
>>
If you walked in with a suitcase full of $100s they would probably call the cops, thinking you just robbed a bank.
>>
>>28776356
I genuinely really doubt that. He would make almost nothing on that sale between what the dealer makes and what he makes.

As mentioned above regarding the CTR, they would rather just sit on it until they find an idiot where they make literally 10-20k from

> 10k markup
> 5k financing
> 3-5k rip off and trade in
> 0-8k on options and add ons

It's literally that fucked, or was, at some point

> finance office lays out 3 options for "extended warranty" in front of you
> tfw you find the tiny skip button
>>
>>28776384
If I had infinite money I'd go to dealers and negotiate up the price just to fuck with them, then walk away.
>>
>>28776000
thought so.
>>
>>28775811
works on craigslist
>>
>>28775773
With honda/toyota forget it they think they can piss in your mouth and you'll come back for more
>>
Have you considered buying a used car you fucking retard
>>
>>28776662
Used car is 75% the price of a new one and you inherit god knows how many mechanical problems with it. Not worth the risk.
>>
>>28778226
lol
>>
>>28778226
are you retarded?
>>
literally just wait for a 0% interest manufacturer special. Happens all the time especially on Fords now.

Even desirable V8 F150s and mustangs

Watch the finance manager seethe as you get 0% interest for 32 months

>>
>>28775773
Why the fuck would you think you can negotiate MSRP on a incoming model year car? Dealerships only play those games when they have a car they want to dump. Find a dealership that has a still new 2024 and try your spiel there.
>>
>>28775773
It depends on the brand. Honda, Toyota, Subaru or Ford? Not a fucking chance. Don't blame the dealer, blame the buyer. They're not going to budge for you when there's 10 cucks lined up behind you willing to pay over the MSRP.
>>
>>28775773
Civic hybrids are high demand and Honda is really good at modulating production to meet demand, which makes it hard to get a deal.

>>
you have to go into the dealership at the end of the month and grind them on the price, also go to a big dealership.

t. carsalesman
>>
How easy is it to test drive cars at a dealership when shopping around? Do you get molested by salesmen when you just want to try things? Do they ride with you? I have a big boy job and money but I have never bought a new car.
>>
>>28778329
When I went I walked in the front door, immediately got pounced on by a sales rep, said which car I was interested in, then they brought it around and told me where to drive, since they have a recommended course.
>>
>>28775773
Ask him how many cars he's sold this month.
It's the 24th so if he says less than 20 ask him if he's really in any position to be arguing with you.
>>
>>28778329
Walk in and ask if the car is available to test drive. They'll give you a salesman who will ride in the car with you, and they'll take basic info from you.
After the drive they'll probably try to sit you down and sell it but be firm that you're not committing to anything.
>>
>>28776416
Lmao
>>
>>28775773
Civics always sell. That's why they don't have to budge.
>>
>>28775811
You can tell who has never purchased a car new
>>
>>28775773
Dealer here.
What you pay really depends on what i need to make out of you.
If you want to negotiate, i will still make the same amount off you, it will just look different.
If you cant afford it, you arent qualified to buy a car.
>>
>>28776662
Not worth it for Honda/Toyota in this market. I never buy new, but with the japtax in the past ten years or so it would make sense to buy hem new vs >>28778226
>>
>>28778246
Be sure to negotiate a good purchase price first. Sometimes those zero interest deals are really just 'we baked the interest into the purchase price.'
>>28778263
Because the market is finally starting to rationalize, and with the gibs printers slowing down there isn't an infinite stream of schmucks to fleece and it'll soon be sell at a discount or let it sit on lot until it becomes one of those that they have to dump.
>>
>>28776416
What difference does it makes to have infinite money or not for negotiating, if you are not closing the deal?

Lack of testicles is preventing you from doing it.
>>
>>28775773
Honda has objectively gone into the absolute shitters when it comes to dealerships. They were one who benifit Ed alot from COVID pricing, and will refuse to do anything less.
>>28775803
Toyota is slightly better but mainly due to them only refusing to negotiate on certain cars like the camry or especially the Rav4. You can deal for almost everything else
>>
>>28778683
Lol, smug ass dealer nigger eating the crumbs of his jew overlords and fucking his people over thinking he is smart.

If you are salesman for a dealership, you are a cuck. I know that because I used to work at one. When I realized the only way to be successful as a dealer salesman is to fuck people over, I resigned.

The manager that was above me? Even a bigger cuck for corporate that ended up fired and working a shitty job at a paint store later on.

So you are a nigger screwing your own people and playing smart. You are not smart, I can tell by the smug ass post.

Show us a picture of your car with a real timestamp as a measurement of your success, successful nigger.

Otherwise, FUCK OFF nigger with grandiloquent delirium.
>>
>>28778683
Waiting for that photo

You better have a $150k car u fucking nigger.
>>
>>28775773
Honda and Toyota aren't going to play ball. Honda has too many fanboys. Toyota has the 'muh reliability' meme going. The last time I went into a Toyota, the salesman could not give less of a fuck that I was considering buying a car from him. Just another name on the waiting list. It might not be quite that bad now, but still.
>>
>>28778726
LOL
So you couldn't cut it as a saleman? Imagine my surprize.
There's only two types of people in life, victims and predators.
You are a born victim kek.
>>
>>28778772
Nah, it's that I didn't want to suck cock for a living unlike you.

Show us a picture with PROOF of your success. Not a photo of a car taken from the storing parking lot that you can't afford. I want proof of YOUR success career as a salesman.

Otherwise, it's all made up bullshit, lying scum.

Lol, you thinking you are smart and eating crumbles.

You don't have honor, little jew minion.
>>
>>28778683
I have 205,000 in my wallet right now. I just don't want to pay over 25k for a car. You can take it or leave it.
>>
>>28778329
Depends on the stealership.
If it's a car they have they will immediately show it to you because sitting in the car with you lets them try and convince you to buy it, or better yet, buy whatever up-priced POS they actually want you to buy.
The thing to remember is they prey on most people being nervous/uncomfortable round pushy salespeople and being bullied.
>>
>>28776384
You have to realize that the dealer usually takes out a loan on the inventory and after a while it gets a little dicey because the longer it sits the more that interest is ticking and they got newer models coming in that also got to sell. There is also the bonus they get from the Manufacturer if they hit a quota so they can lose $500-$1000 on a sale if an old car and make $5k if it hits the quota.

The main thing when dealing with the big dealers is to poke around and see if there is a deal or not and don’t waste time. If it is a desirable car they will just wait for someone to pay full price for it, esp if it sells within the 30 days on average bc then it doesn’t cost them any interest.
>>

I did in the 90s
