I think mild hybrid and small battery (under 5kwh) self charging hybrids make a lot of sense, but oddly the subsidies and government structures have favored pure BEV cars and most mainstream manufacturers lack full hybridization of most model lines, or, if they do, use older technology

a technology where it takes 20-30 min to charge up at a minimum, assuming its working and not in use vs gas where you can refuel in 2-3 minutes is going to be difficult
