>Ford never sold the GT falcon as a ute>every GT ute you see is a replica
>>28780915Because it looks coolSimple as
>>28780915Yes all gt Ute's are panel vans converted into Ute's.
>>28781020they are falcon 500 utes. my uncle has a cobra ute. was done by a ford dealer. probably really rare
>>28780915most gt sedans you see are replicas too
>>28781128~1500 XY GTs rolled out the factory. 700 of them were probably totalled and sold for scrap metal by 1990. Minimum of 2000 "original" XY GTs today lmao.
>>28781145And for half of the truly original GTs, half of them are probably stolen vins.
my dad is personally responsible for 5 GT replicas. he only ever had 1 genuine one. he sold his last one in 1989 so he could buy a bigger house for when i was born.his were indistinguishable from genuine GTHO's, he even added the factory paint markings
>>28781158these were originally green GS fairmonts. the yellow one he put the most effort into. the orange one was a rush job so he had something to drive around while he built the yellow one.
>>28781158Probably made sense in the 80's as the cars were not expensive, still ran just fine, there was plenty of 351's around, stuff like the 4-barrel Holley wasn't exactly alien technology and the rest would just be hard work and attention to detail.A lot of that stuff now is getting scarce enough that you're not likely to find it down your pick n pull yard like it would have been back then. Course, no internet to find things meant probably quite a lot of driving and knowing a few fellas
>>28781165He worked for a ford dealership so he could buy whatever genuine new old stock parts he needed. he had a bunch of genuine motorcraft XY GT parts that he used when he restored a 1969 mach 1 mustang.
>>28780915>replica
>>28781251Hear people referring to them as 'tribute' cars nowadays
this old dude near me has a stock base model XY. he has to keep it locked in his garage because people kept knocking on his door asking to buy it so they can turn it into a GT and resell it for 100k+
>>28782211man. i just wanna daily one of these, especially if it has a manual
