I used a first gen 5.4L as my tow vehicle for many years. In many ways it was a piece of shit but it refused to die and give me the excuse to get rid of it.

yeah it has 198k for like $3900 but overall it looks good and it's 4wd. i have tools and a spot to work on basic stuff, but typing this out i should just ask to take it to a mechanic before i buy
