WTF is this bit? i thought it was mortorq or something like that but it doesn’t appear to be, its a 4 sided external bit that resembles a phillips kindasorta but it’s not mortorq and it’s def not torx/e-torx or JIS or anything like that

so wtf is this? this is on an 11th gen civic and it attaches to a fender as a retaining bracket of some sort
>>
I would have asked on shitty ass Reddit but im banned there so this is my only hope

>>
why is it glossy?

looks like a stripped and rattle canned normal bolt of some sort
>>

thanks for taking the time to respond to my thread i really appreciate it because ive been at a loss

it’s glossy because its painted from the factory black, same color as my car & the fender body panel that this is bolted into

it does look like it’s stripped but i think that may just be the post processing on my stupid ass cuck iphone since it doesn’t really look like that in person, it appears the same on the other side/fender as well, and I haven’t attempted to take this off until now

Don’t think it’s a normal bolt though, im pretty sure it’s an inverted/external Phillips or JIS type bit but I can’t for the life of me find any screwdrivers/bits that fit that profile so I feel like a retard

It's not going to be easy to tell what it is from a picture, but I found a service manual that might help you:

dropbox.com/scl/fi/pddjzwvuejuaj1dhbi153/Honda-Civic-Service-Manual-2022-2024.pdf

I know you said it's not stripped, but you may want to look into a manual impact driver (the kind you hit with a hammer) which helps for fasteners that might cam out/strip under force.

Thanks for the link anon I appreciate it greatly, when I have some time ill take a look and see if it details what type of hardware this is

Will also look into manual impact driver may just have to end up going that route, thanks again for the pointers I appreciate it man

why not just make another account? some people are on their 20th accounts lol

I wish this was the case but no it’s a metal retaining bracket that attaches to the fender and the hardware itself is metal

It's prompts out of an IQ test. Legitimately a stroke of genius. They need to make it harder though.

Looks like a stripped to hell hex

Just use the "drive hole" as a centering hole for a big ass drill bit and bbbrrrrtttttt the head off.
