I need to replace my broken exhaust and money is a short right now, does the one in picrel alright for a small amount of money? I dont need it to last years.

Second question: this piece was built for the Tiptronic, but my car is manual. Should it still fit perfectly? I read the difference my regarding the sound and I might get some droning problems.

it was one week later
some guys on thread didnt understand I was not in any way gonna pay 14.000€ for the guy the replace the muffler with original parts.
I got the car back, it is fully functional. but the exhaust has like a 2 milimeter distance from the tyre. Im afraid of breaking it even further. plus it seems like the mechanic damage even more the car? the crossing pipe from left to right got broken there, was that needed? do I need to replace the whole part now or is it easy to replace?
>>
I can’t believe this fuckin guy.
Literally just a bolt on exhaust.

i dont know man, the car feels unstable. I do think the axle needs some adjustment after the accident, plus even an independent mechanic was afraid of just breaking it further if he would try to force it to go away from the tire

This is one of those examples of there being nothing as expensive as a cheap german car
>>
>>28784365
This is an example of not having a clue what’s going on and crashing your shit, then not having a clue what to do about it or execute the most basic troubleshooting.
Fascinating behavior! Dr Goodall could publish much research from this event.
>>
>>28784387
The thing about old german cars is that if you can't afford it new, you can't afford it old

since you are so knowledgeable, then tell me:
are all exhausts going to fit perfectly regardless of what version of 996 I install it?
Are they gonna be accepted in the official inspection necessary to gain the licensing of the vehicle (which should happen in 2026)?
how do I find out, whether a used part was for the 3.4L or for 3.6L?

buy some exhaust pipe

https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Straight-Exhaust-Pipe/dp/B074XJL1QP?th=1

cut the pipe with this tool, making sure that it has 2 or 3 inches of overlap with the other two ends of your exhaust

https://www.harborfreight.com/exhaust-tail-pipe-cutter-58678.html

Expand both ends of the pipe with this, so one pipe can fit in the other but its still firm. you wont need exhaust sealant if you do it right.

https://www.harborfreight.com/exhaust-pipe-expander-large-59698.html

get some pipe clamps

https://www.homedepot.com/p/VEVOR-Pipe-Clamp-Fixture-5-in-to-12-in-Capacity-Clutch-Clamp-Set-High-Strength-Steel-with-Quick-Acting-Screws-for-Alignment-HJDGQYCBD5-12U9P2V0/323024478

actually clamp both ends tight with something like this

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dynomax-32218-Exhaust-Clamp-Fits-select-1967-1970-FORD-MUSTANG-1970-CHEVROLET-MALIBU/159342014

We used to do this on our driveway on jackstands in CT to straightpipe our shit, then slap on the actual exhaust when we had to do emissions testing.

>but anon its too expensive and I'm a dumb fucking animal that cant do anything right or work with his hands like a man, what if the exhaust still has leaks because I am incompetent?

Then take the bus. 99% of euro posts here are from people that are too scared to try anything and only drive the most garbage 0.0001L engine cars and can only sim race. Learn to wrench.

then take a look and figure it out, what the fuck? Just try things.

You haven't stated what country or state you live in. I advise you just call the location which you intend to use for your inspection and ask them this question. You are not trying to trick them, you are asking a genuine question and need to prepare for their inspection.

yeah getting a used muffler for the 3.6L wont be easy, the link has good info.

>>28784476

thanks for all the infos
im gonna keep this stored in case no honest mechanic nearby wants to help me
i honestly barely have time to clean my own kitchen
im in Germany and chances are something will not look perfect if I do it by myself and the car might fail the inspection test.
as far as I know even a muffler which is not officially approved for the 3.6L and only for the 3.4L might be ignored in the inspection and the car maintain its license, but they might as well be strict and demand the exact muffler with approval from TÜV or EG for the 3.6L version, your idea is not bad though, im gonna try it tomorrow.

You start working on these things you’ll realize it’s easy and there is no magic. It’s a thin metal tube. You can fix it easily my friend
