china is banning the one thing that is killing people in electric cars.i'm surprised that american and european automakers never thought of banning retractable door handles before china.https://www.autoblog.com/news/china-is-banning-tesla-style-retractable-door-handles-over-safety-concerns
>>28784308>china is banning the one thing that is killing people in electric cars. They're banning flaming lithium ion batteries?
>>28784320cope
>>28784320Door handles could have prevented this o algo
>>28784328You're already coping enough for all of us by pretending it isn't a problem.
>>28784320sodium ion batteries will fix that problem ;)
>>28784308>something simple, cheap, and reliable that's been in use since the invention of the automobile>techfaggotbros: let's do something completely different and way more complicated!!.. just because.these fucking cunts..
i thought it was the fires
>>28784308Other countries never "thought of" it because it's retarded virtue signaling. ) after an accident. The problem isn't the design of the handle but the design of the opening mechanism itself. You can change the handle to look like a normal handle but if it still isn't physical connected to the door release and still opens the door with an electric switch then you have the same problem. Conversely you could still design a handle like on a Model Y that is flush with the door but is still connected to a real cable. Simply targeting the way the handle looks accomplishes absolutely nothing.
>>28784356krautism is like this too
>>28784392but the intro text says it's mandating a manual release
>>28784370There are multiple non-fire reasons to have physical door handles. >Battery short circuits while you're driving>Car crashes and falls off a bridge, power gone, cabin filling with water>Some criminal locks you in the car by disabling the batteryAnd there's fires caused by more than defective batteries. People don't pooh-pooh fire escapes from buildings just because "it shouldn't be flammable lol"
>>28784396Brother I literally said you can still have mechanical retractable handles. Targeting the design in any way is biased.
>>28784437>From 2027, cars sold in China must have manual door releases after electronic handles failing during crashes.call me retarded but that just looks like they want the handle to have a mechanical linkage behind it.
>>28784356>>28784393People confuse genius with over complicating something instead of refined simplicity. True genius is bringing an idea to its purist form rather than blow it out of proportion.
>>28784473brb checking the oil on my BMW, just need to let it warm up for 10minutes until the sensor works.dipsticks ARE SO PEDESTRIAN
Yes, you can still have flush handles, like on the GT-R, as long as they are mechanical and can be pulled with no power.Tesla's retractable handles were stupid anyway. Even F-Type that has handles that spring out with motors has a failsafe as you can still push on the hinge side to pull the handle out.
>>28784489in an emergency situation, not a lot of people would know how to operate that door handle.doesn't mean that I don't like how those door handles. they are nice.
>>28784473this job that could be done in my driveway with a regular tool set on any other car? simply, absolutely, unacceptable. you must buy our SST that you will only use once in your lifetime
>>28784496It's pretty intuitive. It looks like a door handle so you won't go searching for it elsewhere, it has a textured dotted spot where you'd want to put your thumb, and if all else fails, poking and clawing at it you'll eventually get it to pop out. It'll take a couple seconds more than a regular pull handle, but it'll open, unlike Tesla's handle.
>>28784308chink cars blow up when you try to just ship them across the ocean. Not much of a fix.
>>28784342Lithium fluorine batteries
>>28784328why do people always say this instead of giving an actual reply? complete waste of computing power
>>28784356>just becauseIt's so Tesla can remotely lock people in or out of their cars. It's all about control.
