I'm looking for a new car in the price range of a civic/corolla but as a CUV. Is the 2nd gen trax any good?
>inb4 wet timing belt
>>
You should try your mom. She's the city bicycle.
>>
what about a seltos or a kona?
trax is unironically the worst korean car made

I copped a manhole cover to the front diff and got a 2005 V6 highlander as an emergency shitbox. Hope this helps

How could i make it more "urban?"

get a kia soul instead. it's just as practical, better looking, and probably better made

Don't do it.

>modern GM
It's not grandpappy's GMT400/800 anon, that thing is going to bankrupt you in ways you never thought were possible. This is just proof that GM hates everyone equally, but hates the poor more equally.

Go buy a Mazda 5 for a few thousand bucks. They've got sliding doors but are about the size of a compact car, but they're not as big as minivans so no one wants them. The 2.5L Duratec is ancient but that means it's simple and cheap to fix. Every time I do a repair on a Mazda 3 or 5 of that generation, there's literally nothing complicated about them.
>also it's got a timing chain

my parents own a first gen trax.
no issues after 50k miles
>>
Yes, they're pretty reliable and are really good value for money.

Ok enjoy your Chevy breaking down. I always wondered what compelled people to buy cars that are a repair bill sentence, other than bad credit.

the soul is a much older design than the seltos
if you want something new get a seltos, they just revised it for a new generation
but I feel like they lock a lot of features out of the smaller one
if you don't need the raised ride height of a crossover, I recommend a top-trim K4 sedan with the 360 cameras, or, if you do want the raised ride height, a used Sportage.
Chevy just isn't as nice, and, as much as it pains me to say this, is even slower. And the Kia actually has surprisingly nice brakes.

That Mazda is like 50% Ford parts. You're just superficial.

I can't believe somebody resurrected General Custer, only for him to immediately start posting on 4chan

Not anymore. That's the one choice that has contributed to the rise in quality on Mazda as a brand for the last decade, the fact that they finally ditched their partnership with Ford that was dragging them down like a block of cement on a mafia murder.

Being fair, that's a two way street too. Any fuckups of Mazda are the fault of Mazda, they can no longer hide behind the skirt of Ford and claim it's all the fault of Ford retardation.

American-made car reliability only exists on the high end luxury trims you useless cocksucker. Cheap econoboxes that are made for poorfags are the worst tier of american cars. Unless you're sinking 80K into a car brand new, an american brand is the worst possible choice you can make.

To Ford's credit, the 2.5L is very dependable. ABS pump, not so much.

>>28785796
It's probably a fine car, but if you buy one then you might have to deal with your local Chevrolet dealership LOL
>>
>>28785796
It's a little lacking in the U part from what I've read. Nearly every review I've read describes the engine as wheezy and underpowered, and the transmission as indecisive.
Maybe a Crosstrek?

God, GMfags are pathetic. How is that Highlander still on the road yet I see no old Traverses or Equinoxes? It really activates the almonds.

For what it's worth, the Trax is Car and Drivers #1 subcompact SUV with a 10/10 rating.

>I'm looking for a new car in the price range of a civic/corolla but as a CUV
Why?
>>
Consider this. A 2025 Chevy Trax is faster 0 to 60 than a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am

Almost unbelievable, and yet the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, with its 5.0-liter V8, 145 horsepower, and roughly 3,200-pound weight, reached 0–60 mph in about 9.0 seconds.

The 2025 Chevrolet Trax, despite a tiny 1.2-liter turbo engine and similar 137 horsepower, weighs slightly less at around 3,000 pounds and matches that time at about 8.9 seconds.

Quite a stark contrast that shows how modern engineering, through turbocharging, lighter materials, and advanced electronics, has made today’s entry level, subcompact SUV as quick as yesterday’s muscle cars, but with economic sensibility.

GM is killing it.

Okay, now remove the smog shit, flip the air cleaner lid and throw some headers, free-flowing exhaust and a cam at it. You've now doubled your horsepower for the cost of what people typically pay for a plug-in tune on a modern car.
What can you do with that overstressed 1.2L with a 3cyl turbo? 2hp with a K&N filter?

Try the HRV or CX30

There is nothing gm or american about this car, its a korean econobox designed to go 45 mph max on the streets of korea

seconding this
or corolla cross hybrid but will be more expensive
>>
>>28786929
The cx-50 hybrid has literally the rav4 hybrid powertrain and it's built next to the corolla cross plant in Alabama
The only "ford" thing is the obd2 protocol and tools
>>
Trax is only worth as a lease

So the Corolla Cross?
