I'm looking to buy a subcompact crossover. Looking at:
>2022 HRV
>2023 Mazda CX-30
>2022 Crosstrek
>2024 Hyundai Kona

I live in Los Angeles so AWD or 4WD isn't really that necessary. I'm looking for reliability and great gas mileage since I work on the field and drive all over LA
>>
I recommend the Kona!
Might as well cross-shop the Seltos and the Niro and figure out why the fuck Kiyundai makes so many darn tiny cuckovers.
The CX-30 is a much older design (yes I get that it's more fun to drive).

Why?
>>
Oh sorry minor point the Kona just switched generations to a brand new one in like 2024 I think - recommend you look at the new one.

>Hyundai Kona
It looks like some ai slop from this car does not exist. How can they fuck up styling this bad? Your one job is "don't make it fucking hideous" and they fail at that.
>>
>>28787261
such gay picks. Mazda and Honda will probably be more reliable.
>>
>>28787285
that's the last generation Kona design

>>28787313
korean cars are very reliable and offer better comfort and features vs japmobiles which tend to use more basic/older designs
>>
>gookmobile
Get a Porsche

Kona N

>>
>>28787351
this is an older platform tho
the interior is worse and its more cramped than the new one
best to get the kona top trim with the 1.6T
>>
>>28787351
>gets absolutely BTFO by an ancient UDM at the 6:55 mark
>>
>>28787261
None of these are going to have amazing fuel efficiency - they'll be average at best. But consider the following.

>HRV
Base civic engine in a car that's heavier than a Civic. It is dangerously slow.

>CX-30
Probably the best vehicle in your list, MUCH better engine and driving experience than the others. Passenger room in the back is not good.

>Crosstrek
Base 2.0L engine is weak as fuck. Only consider buying one with they 2.5L engine. Enjoy your laggy infotainment screen

>Kona
Tiny as fuck. Not sure why you'd even consider it.
>>
>>28787261
>I'm looking for reliability and great gas mileage
Get a Prius.
>>
>>28787261
I put crossclimate 2s on my parents' turbo cx-5 and it's averaging 20mpg on the new tires for the last 60 miles. My 911 gets higher mpg than that with more cylinders. Don't get the Mazda for mpg.

>Tiny as fuck.
the new kona is a lot larger than the old one

it’s basically the same interior as the Elantra N. It’s serviceable.
but the amount of fun will far surpass the newer non N model
>bonus hint
a simple remap safely adds 80hp to the Kona/Elantra N

>there is a new one
>checks it out
>It's literally an /o/ meme
We are in a simulation and the rulers of this world are having a laugh
>>
>>28787396
its fine but the newer generation kona and k4 both exist and are nicer

>>28787419
that's the old design
>>
I've got a CX30, it's great. Looked at the Kona, smaller engine, worse interior, didn't like it.
>>
>>28787454
Does it actually drive well or does it just drive well "for a crossover"?
>>
>>28787394
Let's amend that for the updated and larger Kona:
UGLY AS SIN
>>
>>28787482
who the fuck cares what it looks like
the new generation kona, in the 1.6T is plenty peppy, has a much newer, nicer, more spacious interior than the mazda

>>28787454
you looked at the old generation kona and didn't test the turbo I bet
>>
>>28787261
Those are all horrific choices
You will regret it
>>
>>28787457
Well everything is relative - but what I can say is that the engine is more than adequate for the car, it feels smooth and accelerates well, at least the naturally aspirated one, haven't tried the turbo. it also takes corners well even at speed because it's actually quite low for a crossover so there's little body lean. Quite easy to get it over 100mph on the motorway if you're into that. Also mine is a manual and the gearbox is very snappy and pleasant, again haven't tried the auto not sure how that feels.
>>
>>28787488
I did indeed look at the previous Kona, newer one might be better. I didn't want a turbo, I don't think they work very well on any engine under 2L or at least I don't like the way they accelerate.
>>
>>28787514
the new kona with the 1.6T is smooth and potent
>>
>>28787261
>subcompact crossover.
Honestly I would just tell you to go full compact SUV instead. They're gonna be at competitive prices with these cuckovers, same maintenance prices, and you're gonna have more room.

Instead of a Crosstrek, go Forester. Instead of a CX-30, go CX50. Etc.

I test drove it. I drove in S instead of D so I felt zippier and merging in LA wasn't a problem

I work in downtown LA and parking is already a bitch with a hatchback
