have you wver thought of getting rid of your car?

i think about it getting rid of you

no, because i live 20 miles from town on 7 acres. :)
Enjoy the bus and your diversity friends!
>>
Not even the biggest, fattest soccer-mom SUV, truck or cuckover takes that much space, it's barely enough for a real ping pong table, what the hell?
>>
>>28795168
You know damn well nobody would actually use that recreational area. Most people now are lazy and have all of the entertainment in their homes, so they don't ever do anything outside except go to whatever fast food place is their favorite, or some fake activity purely as instagram/tiktok material. Every one of those parks I see in the nearby towns and cities are almost always empty, save for when the occasional singular old person sits down for a rest. OT: No.

12m^2 is the size of a child's bedroom with a double size bed
you're not fitting a fucking bench, a pingpong table, a whole ass tree, a lamp post, and two fucking gardens in that space, and even if you could, 5 people crammed in there on top of it would be uncomfortably crowded.
>>
>>28795184
it's a very california liberal-brained image
first off who the fuck plays ping pong outside and what the hell is third girl doing, she's offsides
then you've got the crippled and possibly retarded guy desperately trying to get the attention of the purple shirted woman who is too focused on her local socialist commune's pamphlet to notice him
then there is the bird in the treehouse which is just a common pigeon that shits everywhere while eating the rotting crab apples that drop from an inner city tree fed by polluted groundwater and smog-choked air.

>>
>>28795168
i tried that. i succumbed to the propaganda like in your image and moved into the city, trading in my car for the metro and a backyard for a public park. i lasted 2 years. the first year was spent realizing what a farce this "utopia" that was sold to me was, and my second year was spent planning my exit. i now own multiple cars and live happily on my own land around only people that look and think like me, and have a personal, loathing disgust for the faggots like you who sell impressionable young people this bullshit communist utopian lie.

Honest answer:
I lived car free from 2012 to 2019, smack in the middle of a university city with over half a million people. Trams right outside my door. The farther neighborhoods and massive leisure/spots areas were easy to reach by bus. A 15-minute walk to the main train station, connections all over the country and across Europe, and less than half an hour by bus to the airport.
Ridiculously convenient.
Heading out in the evening with friends? No problem. Dinner and a beer - dark, strong, basically a meal on its own. No driving - no problem. Wandering around shops with my girlfriend without having to trek back for a car. Easy.
Traveling on vacation to places with functioning public transport? Zero issues. I never once felt limited by it.
Whenever I actually needed a car, I rented one. Same with a van. Same with a trailer.
Nine months a year, I biked to work.
Life was comfortable, and I didn’t miss owning a car one bit.
Meanwhile, in the tiny 25,000-person town where I grew up, a friend of mine has to drive through it a few times a week, and there are so many cars now that it sometimes takes her over half an hour. Most of the traffic is local anyway. The place is so small my mom can bike around the entire town in under two hours.
A girl I went to school with now drives her kids to that same school. Distance? Not even 2 kilometers. That’s just sad.

>>
A large parking space in a US parking lot is around 9 by 18 feet, or 162 square feet, or 15 square meters.

A compact spot: 8 by 16, or 128 sq feet, or 11.8 sq meters.

A parallel on-street spot: 8 by 21, or 168 sq feet, or 15.6 sq meters.

Everybody in this thread talking about how big the car is, not how big the parking spot is. OP's post is about the parking space. 12 sq meters is a fairly reasonable estimate of how large a parking spot is, and smaller than most in the US.

Learn media literacy, folks, it's not just a meme.

Meanwhile, in my post-communist country, no one ever harassed any of my girlfriends who were riding alone in the evenings after school, after work, after practice, whether by bus, tram, or train. Sure, over the years someone might occasionally strike up a conversation, but a polite "no", a simple “I’m taken,” and a wish of good luck with their search was always enough.
Damn, Benin chick - yeah, there was a problem. A LOT of attention.
Back in my student days, we’d regularly take night buses after parties, packed with hordes of other partygoers. No one ever gave me trouble. And the biggest issue I ever caused myself? (while drunk) I once refused to get off the bus. Changed my mind when the driver informed me the route was over, his shift had ended, and we were sitting at the depot. So I caught the first morning bus heading home.

Every year around mid-year, right before a long vacation, I sit down and run the numbers on our household expenses. We are ditching the second car - not even because it is particularly expensive to maintain, but because an asset that just sits there, doing nothing and earning us nothing most of the time, is simply nonsense.

As a side note: when we were moving out of the city, they were removing about one-fifth of the parking spots on our street, turning them into café patios and urban greenery (OP pic related). Whenever I swing by that neighborhood now, the area and overall vibe feel noticeably more pleasant than back when we lived there.

TY for reading my blogpost.

Not getting rid of one of my cars cost me a solid relationship with a beautiful girl way outta my short autistic league. Almost two years not moved in together and no ring, the relationship was that of a teenage one where I got too comfortable thinking itd be fine seeing her on weekends only. I paid for all outings, fed her, and occasionally zelled her money for food or coffee during the week but I wasnt there for her like a man she needed. Back to being a lonely alcoholic driver.

Pic rel, what a table tennis table actually looks like in a car space.
Also without a car, that disabled nigger throwing a nazi salute has no way of getting anywhere now. Disabled people usually need cars more than anybody else, that's why they get dedicated parking spots.

I have had to wait at transfer points for the next bus to come around because the transfer I needed left early too many times to ever consider not owning a car.

It once took me 4 hours to cover 7 miles from the airport to my house by bus.

It would take me an hour and a half of walking and bus riding one way to get to work.

If public transit was worth a damn I'd consider getting rid of my second car. But it isn't, and it isn't going to be anytime soon either.

I lived without a car for 2+ years in WA eastside area
it absolutely works if you
1) live within reasonable transit commute from your workplace
2) have a grocery store within walking distance or near the workplace
3) have friends that can take you places
car does give more freedom wrt scheduling random appointments 10 miles away and gives better peace of mind
there's no reason not to own a car in US unless you live and work in a major metro US city
>>
>>28795185
it seems to be assuming a maximum vehicle width of 2 metres and length of 6m (a ram 1500 is around that length and about 100mm wider). a typical ping pong table would be 1.5m wide and 2.7m long, the table in that pic would be absolutely shit to play on lmao.
>>
>>28795227
>Are you telling me the average SUV you find on Earth is 3 METERS (9.9 feet) by 4 METERS (13 feet) long?
2 meters wide by 6 long, basically the size of a suburban
>>

>>
You can NOT play table tennis in a parking lot square lmao, are they retarded
>have you wver thought of getting rid of your car?
No, i make good enough money that i can pay for a parking spot even though i dont really need my car, as i live in a city with good public transport
>>
>>28795227
Ford Explorer is exactly 5.0m long and 2.0m wide. 10m squared is probably closer to average while 12m is for 'large' suv's.
>>
>>28795168
They're acting like you can fit a whole living room in a parking spot but then you could just live in something the size of a car. I don't see van dwellers playing ping pong inside their van, the artist is lying. A box truck maybe is enough space to reasonably dwell in.
>>
>>28795896
>people usually need cars more than anybody else
So that's why americans have so many cars and so much congestion on the highways, everyone there is disabled
>>

No. I don't like being around people who aren't my wife, kids or a few friends. Walkable city, no matter how convenient, sounds like hell to me. Sometimes I just like to wander around with my son and look at the birds.

In 2011 I moved to a big city because of university. I liked living here for around 5 years because I was a young uni retard who wasn't really concerned with things like groceries but I absolutely hate living here now. Stores and other necessary garbage being near where you live is a lie.

Even if it's a 5 minute tram/bus ride, and it's very rarely the case, I'm not going to firstly be riding with couple of bags of groceries plus packs of bottled water in a fucking bus/tram.

Secondly if I were to do smaller grocery runs I don't want to be wasting time EVERY DAY to do this shit. I want to do it at worst twice a week and good luck doing that without a car.

Thirdly I've been all over Europe and every time I've had the misfortune to be forced into using public transport there was a 30% chance of a hobo stinking up the place. Ignoring that these fucking things are always packed to the brim and even if you ignore me hating other people I still don't want to be squeezed like a sardine and breathed on by fuck knows who and what.

Doctor's or veterinarians are also either spread out all over the city or I have to drive to another city 150 km away so there goes that bullshit of "everything being in one convenient place".

I hate cityniggers with every fiber of my being and can't wait to finally move out of here, even if it means a 30 minute drive to work one way.

>a car's parking spot is big enough for a bench, some planters, a flower garden, a ping pong table, plus a bunch of open space in between
Whoever made that image was either an absolute retard with zero concept of scale, or purposely misrepresenting the scale of things. Just the ping pong table with the space around it so you could actually play would take up all of the parking space.

I love how not only is the ping pong table half the size that it should be, but it also shows everything overhanging the parking space.
>Just look at how much more you could do with 12 m2 if it was actually 14 m2!
>>
>>28797690

the only people on a bus are old people using their free bus pass and druggies picking up their gyro.
the reason for that is that if you have a car then its more expensive that fueling the vehicle you already own and because you can go almost nowhere through public transport in south wales.
