The Nissan doesn't look bad, but the R5 looks so damn stylish and fresh, it's the main appeal of the car IMO. That are the IRS which isn't common on vehicles in this segment

Odd how the rear of the Twingo looks a lot like an old Micra, but the Micra version doesn't.
>>
>>28795982
I'm going to buy one. I've owned a first generation Twingo, currently own a second generation Twingo, and have wanted to buy an EV for a while. Price and specs look good, and, most importantly, it has charm. It would be better as a three door with the correct style of door handles, but I can live with it.
>>
>>28797263
The Micra seems to be a simple bumper/light swap of the 5, and the Micra has basically looked like everything from an angular box to a squinty egg throughout its various generations.

Here, looking at it and the Micra side by side there's a little bit more between them than just bumpers and lights but it's pretty clear they're basically the same cars.

The only similar thing to the OG Twingo are the LED strips around the headlights because they didn't even want to have the original headlight shape. Take that away and it's yet another generic modern blob and it's an EV on top of that.

That's the Turbo 3e, it's basically a bespoke racing platform with a carbon fibre chassis, 540hp, in-wheel motors and a lot of downforce. It's not really a consumer car, it's like €150k.

Certainly their halo car ATM. They've dropped the Megane Cup now, which was the only car they sold for a few years. Vans are their most popular line. Now they have the Megane E-Tech and this 5-RS. So electric cars only. Doesn't seem like a great strategy in Australia right now, as EV sales are tanking.

A question about the gif, what exactly is the purpose of the fixed bulbs, but moving shrouds? They don't even cover the bulbs much to begin with?
>>
>>28799386
this is a market you just made up. nobody is buying a car based on these two specific criteria together.
>>
>>28799427
What the fuck are you talking about? I'm not that guy, and those are also the two most important things for me.

I guess range matters, but once it has enough for my daily commute, I don't give a shit if it's 200 km or 2000 km of range.

The criteria are like this--
1. Can it do my daily commute?
2. Can I afford it?
3. Does it look happy?

The Twingo does all three, and it does them better than anything else that I've seen on the market until now.

>$30k if you want the bigger battery (~400km / 250miles), 150hp
>meanwhile new model 3 standard starts at 37k, is 2 segments larger, has 100 miles more range, has twice the hp, is rwd instead of fwd
>used model 3s start at 20k (2021+, so it has heat pump and double pane glass) and again you get all the same advantages of a new model 3, minus slightly worse ride

all those new euro subcompacts are extremely shitty deals
the cheap, strictly city only range versions are mogged by used model 3s, the expensive higher range versions are mogged by new model 3s.
the only market for them is elon hating libtards

Without accounting for any rebates:
The cheapest Model 3 is 37k€ in France. A fuckhuge, fuckheavy pseudosedan with a range is 534km
The cheapest R5 is 25k€. Range is 310km.
The cheapest Twingo is 21k€ with a range of 261km.

The renaults are eligible for the green bonus ranging from 3.6k€ to 5.7k€. Maybe Teslas too but on their site they only show -400€ of CEE bonus.

tl;dr: compare what's comparable.

>tl;dr: compare what's comparable.
i did

i compared the cheap 20-25k versions to used model 3s, which you can get in those prices easily, pic related. and mind you, those are the 2021+ versions, im leaving even older ones, without heat pumps, out of the equation.

and i compared the expensive versions to a new model 3, which is only 5-7k for a much bigger car, with way bigger range, and double/triple the hp, depending on version.

and i also wanna mention, that while it might seem that a larger range is not really relevant for a city runabout, it becomes extremely relevant if you can't charge at home. 250km range is enough for every urban commute, no argument there. but if you have a 50km commute, and 250km range, you need to charge every 4 days. if you have 500km range, you need to charge every 9. that's a pretty big advatage if charging means taking an hour of your time after work to head to a public charger.

>The renaults are eligible for the green bonus ranging from 3.6k€ to 5.7k€.
are those applied before or after the prices you posted
because if you can get a twingo for 21k - 57k = 15k, then it kinda sorta almost possibly starts making some sense. i'd probably still go for a (pre-2021) model 3 myself, but at that point it would be a difficult decision.

>>28800121
>t. one of the aforementioned elon hating libtards
>>
>>28800137
>are those applied before or after the prices you posted
After. All the prices are before rebates as mentioned in the post.

But anyway, if you need a big car to haul your family to your summer vacation spot on the other side of the country, then just buy a normal ICE car. With 40k you can even get some fancy audi even if you want.
>>
>>28800137
Why the fuck would you buy an EV if you can't home charge?
>>
>>28800149
>All the prices are before rebates as mentioned in the post.
right, my bad
in that case, the cheap twingo does make some sense then. at 15k, you're cross shopping vs the earliest model 3s, sans heat pump, plus early build quality issues, plus battery longevity concerns, so a cheap new car has some good arguments going for it.

>if you need a big car to haul your family to your summer vacation spot on the other side of the country
that's not the only advantage of a big car. if you have a family, being able to fit them in is an advantage every day, not just on trips
and its also more comfortable on the front, for you. aside from more physical space, the larger wheel base makes it ride better, being an originally more expensive car also means better sound proofing and other features, and having a larger boot is convenient every time you have to carry something bigger than a week's groceries
and, as previously mentioned, for everyone not being able to charge at home, a bigger battery directly leads to less time wasted at chargers, which im guessing applies to nearly everyone living in apartments in cities.

>then just buy a normal ICE car
i mean, that's always an option, but if you get an EV with actually decent range, you still have the ability of doing trips with it.
especially euro-sized trips, in the few hundred km range, which either fit entirely in the range of a model 3, or at most require a single charging stop. us-sized road trips in the 1+k mile range are definitely more problematic for evs. doable, but once you're dealing with 10+ charging stops, it could end up adding a whole day to the trip.

>With 40k you can even get some fancy audi even if you want.
what, new? no way, that's a3 money at best.
and i hope you're not advocating that people should buy a used german car. out of warranty. when big maintenance items are coming up. *shudders*. my wallet hurts just thinking about it.
>>
>>28800153
yea, exactly. city runabout EVs are pretty 'tarded to begin with.
if you live in a city, chances are you live in apartment, which almost always means you can't charge at home, which makes evs a pain (and also means no real savings on fuel, but the inconvenience is more important).

but, if you did want an ev anyway, having one with as much range as possible is vital, as it means you need to do fewer charging sessions per unit of time.
