Ford, or Ford?
>>
>>28798319
Why are the Ford Jags so hated anyway? Wouldn't they be better since they have Ford engines and other shit that would be cheaper for maintenance than Jag only parts?
>>
>>28798319
The Ford was good, people still drive them around and they hold their value. It was too late though, didn't matter if it was RWD or had a powerful straight 6, not buying a big SUV was a sign that you didn't care about the safety of your kids, how embarrassing it would be to not have an SUV to your neighbors. It then moved onto those medium sized pickup trucks the last few years, now that fad is fading since you are now seeing a bunch of beat up examples so they are no longer the cool new thing. Seems like the next big thing is those cheap electric car, its always a fad, in a few years those electric cars will be beat up and have electrical issues too.
Funny thing is if you show normies you second hand Falcon that will go wow I didn't know you could get cars like this.

Its more because jag cheapened itself by relying on memberberry styling. The x-type being a fucking mondeo was really the prime example of that.

>Why are the Ford Jags so hated anyway?
They weren't at all, at least here in Europe. The X-Type was available with a 2.0 or 2.2 Diesel and Manual, which was by far the most common model.

Burgers don't realise that 85%+ of BMWs, Mercedes and Audis, had small Diesel engines. Most common BMWs were 320d and 520ds, Mercedes were C220 and E220 CDI, and Audi 2.0 TDI, so a small Diesel Jaguar was pretty much the norm.

>The x-type being a fucking mondeo was really the prime example of that.
Literally nothing wrong with that, the MK3 Mondeo had excellent reviews in Europe.

Picrel interior of Mondeo MK3, pretty much on par with anything German

That is shit compared anything the Germans were selling in 2000.

God that's... Corporate, in a very bad way.
Touchscreen AC in fucking 2003. Fuck that shit.
>they literally admit to copying the Passat B5
I was gonna say it looks like a cheap bootleg. It's a similar layout to the B5 indeed.
>>28798389
>has physical AC controls
>still has space for a navigation and radio head unit
Ain't that fucking nice?
>Germans
Mondeo was mostly a kraut development too, I think.

Who did they get these engines from? Peugeot-Citroen?
>looked it up
Oh wow. They actually are Ford engines. Probably would've been better off sourcing em from PSA still. Them HDis are SOLID.

You're literally comparing a highly specced E39 to a Mondeo, which is a much cheaper E46 Rival.

For the same price as>>28798375, you would have got a 320d with an interior like this

heres your luxury car bro
>>
Ford era Jag slowly got their shit together up to the late 2000s when Ford got rid (mistakenly).
The X350 XJ, despite the pastiche styling, was a very advanced chassis for a big barge and handled more like an E39 5 Series than it did a full size luxury saloon. The X150 XK was also fantastic, looked brilliant and had double wishbones all-round with an aluminium chassis. The supercharged 4.2 was extremely reliable as well.

The XFR was the swansong of Ford Jag, they'd sold Jag by the time the R came out but all the work for it had been done in the Ford era. But what a fucking car. 5.0 V8 with a 1900cc blower, handled ridiculously well and still rode comfortably while being ballistically fast.

Not really, since the E90 came out at the very end of the Mondeo MK3 production. The exact equivalent for the time was the E46.

I'd also compare prices but finding that info is difficult for some retarded reason, and I'd actually like to know for this and various other cars.

Meanwhile Ford makes a 250hp AWD sports van for 68k I actually would
Weird how they replaced the territory with a van like how the terry replaced the wagon sedan and utes
