Replaced the rotted plastic rod guides on my extended cab with aluminum ones to fix my doors. What did you improve on your fleet lately?
>>28798545nice, buttoning up small annoyances like that is always satisfying.i took a look at my dad's corolla yesterday cause he said something was making a weird sound in the front wheel area while breaking. somehow both of the fucking caliper bolts fell out. seems almost impossible, but i guess the bumpy dirt roads must've rattled them out, because the breaks haven't been touched since at least before winter. craziest thing is, the breaks seemed to be functioning quite well for the past few days despite this insanity. i took a bolt out of the caliper from the other side and plan on going to b-ACE-d hardware to grab a replacement today (and maybe some blue loctite).
>>28798545Is your suicide door handle fucked?Mine is the same, I think they all are like that
I really need to resurface my rotors on my Mazda3. The brake pulsations on my car are terrible, especially at around 30-35mph.
My oil cooler oring basically turned to goo, allowing a pretty massive leak that coated my entire engine including wrecking the alternator. So I ended up having to hose this down with degreaser for a few days and then replaced the oring. It was Hella annoying.
I deleted a bunch of unnecessary items for my fleetwood, smog and smog pump deleted, intake resonator (home plate) deleted, simplified cooling lines. Now I can access anything and everything for future maintence.
Plugs/packs and injectors on my 06 XC70 with 300,000km on it and also a gay ass cold air intake because it’s funny. Gotta get some extractors because the bolt holding the fuel filter bracket was fully rounded so running new injectors on an old filter atm Cylinder 3 plug had a bunch of oil in it so think the PCV is probably fucked and the cam gear had oil on the backside so those seals are probably shot but don’t think I have the tools to do them so probably going to ignore it.
>>28798581you sure they arent TTY bolts?>>28798893>get free undercoating>remove itdo you like rust?
>>28799002Buddy, this car is 30 years old and slammed to the point it drags on a crowned road and it needs low profile ramps to be able to get up high enough to use an ultra low profile jack. Rust is inevitable.
>>28798545where's the rod guides in the pic? No idea where I should be looking at>>28799002i don't think toyota has ever used TTY bolts on brake calipers
>>28799011>needs low profile ramps to be able to get up high enough to use an ultra low profile jack.I know that life.I have to get a buddy to grab a fender and lift up on the car enough to get an ultra low jack under the subframe.
>>28799288Its also a Nissan, so it will just spring another oil leak a few weeks from now anyway. I know it leaks oil out the turbo feed line on the other side.
>>28798664It was. That's the before and what I fixed. The plastic that holds the cables in place rots but you can get aluminum ones to snap in for $8 that's enough pieces to do both suicide doors. Now, they're chinesium so center too small. So, you have to drill them out, but perfect otherwise. Just super fucking finicky to snap them into the handle without drilling out the handle rivets. I got it done, though.>>28799021These in the door handle, plus where the cables attach to the latches on the top and bottom of the door behind the door panel.
>>28799532Oh, and put together and installed the new bumper this evening. Not bad for cheap, but I still need to reapply some bedliner where stuff rubbed in shipping. They really cheaped out trying to get everything too compact in the box.
>>28798581Good deal, anon. I had one bolt shake loose on my Caddy last year and couldn't figure out why it was making wierd caliper noises only when I went in reverse for a week. Fun story, I had to go to Ace because the "proper bolts" from the Autozone computer were completely the wrong fucking size and three times as expensive. I don't know what it is with parts databases lately. I had a similar problem with the radiator on my offroad toy where all the parts places said the automatic version is compatible and it totally is fucking not.
>>28798545Got my ass handed to me while changing out the distributor on my s10, thank boomers exist.>if your ever changing a distributor, go the extra mile and swap out all plug wires and spark plugs.
>>28800308Yep, might as well go full tunup. That looks pretty clean, though. Why not just change out the distributor rotor?
a quick tailgate latch on the project 2009 hummer h3 pick up. i installed the latches on the side of the bed upside down as a quick fix because it wasnt catching on till i got new ones on tuesday. fucking truck still a piece of shit idk why i even bother
>>28800451H3's are rare enough, it's nice to see one still on the road. The pickups were even rarer IIRC, like finding an old Comanche.
>>28798545Im doing the lower intake/valve cover gaskets in my 3.0. After thats done im sending it to the shop so they can pull the trans and rebuild it for me.Ive done so much wrenching this year, im fine just eating the labor cost on this one. Im tempted to replace the lifters since I have a spare set, but im so sketched by the amount of broken out of box parts, I may just leave them alone because they all seem fine.
>>28800460its the L5 model with 5 cylinders too, the motor is such a work beast even in my dirt dust ass work environment its lasted us every year we needed to use it.i totally mog f-150 bros when i take it out to get coffee
Deleted my AC compressor. Do I need to cap these off?
>>28800822Only if you care about being able to add AC back sometime later. The seals will get fucked if left exposed to air for a lot of years.
Swapped from AOS to catch cans, managed to reuse a set of catch cans I had for a GD WRX on my VB. Mounted it to my intake air box with rivnuts so I didn't need to drill into the car.
>Tfw scouring the internet for one obscure part so you can macgyver the thing you need to fix
I snapped a glowplug
Why the fuck did chevy make the battery so hard to get out on the 07 impala ss? Dealership fees? and why's the goddam fusebox so large in the first place? Surely there's a better place for it.
>>28798545Brother I also have a millennial gray ranger
Still trying to get my motor unstuck (sat for 40 years). Already soaked the cylinders, now I’ve taken to using a wood block to hit the tops of the pistons with a hammer. Still no movement. Do I just need to stop being a pussy and hit it harder? Surely rust couldn’t stick it that bad, and the cylinders seem to be in fine shape, at least the parts I can see.
>>2880545940 years means more damage if you try to "spin it".Just take it apart.Drop the crank, hammer out the pistons.See whats salvagable and go from there.
