>Be me, limp-wristed no-wrench urbanite faggot
>Get my 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage's tires replaced at the local Meineke
>As I'm driving away, the tire-pressure warning light comes on
>Next morning, go to a gas station for free air
>Electronic pressure gauge says the tires are at 32 lb/in^2 or something
>Tire pressure listed in the manual is 39 lb/in^2
>Go back to Meineke to complain
>Guy at the desk says the tires were inflated to whatever "the machine" said they were supposed to be inflated to, and 39 lb/in^2 sounds unreasonably high for such small tires
>Walk back to my car, take a photo of the sticker on the car's door frame saying 39 lb/in^2 (pic related), walk back inside, and show the photo to him
>"Well, I've never seen anything like that in my twenty years of experience."
Who is more of a faggot? Me for not replacing the tires myself, or him (or whatever low-level employee actually did the work) for failing to follow the manufacturer's instructions?

You for having a car with tires that skinny. Anything less than 245 is fag tier
>>
>>28799007
>lb/in^2
how were you bothered enough to type that. could just say psi kek
>>28799028
65 profile instantly makes it based
>>
35 psi is the standard anyways. Him going to 32 was already him being lazy and cutting corners.
>>
>>28799040
I said "around 32". I don't remember the exact number. It may have been 35.
>>
>>28799045
Your car probably wouldn't have complained at 35, just like how a car that expects 35 wouldn't complain at 32.

The guy was just being a lazy fuck.
>>
>>28799007
>replacing the tires myself
Fuck that. With today's wheels and tires (especially low profile) it's practically impossible to change a tyre without professional shop equipment. Even if you wanted to, getting a tire bead unseated and then seated again in your garage is a huuuuuuge pain in the ass, I changed my motorcycle's tire by myself ONCE and I swore never to try anything that stupid ever again.
>>
>>28799007
Don't go by the door frame in the car go by what is written on the tyre. Go 5 below the Max for fuel economy, 10-15 below max for grip.
>>
>>28799007
High pressures are mostly (only) for better mpg, you could run it at 30 or 25
>>
>>28799060
Don't do this. The same model of tire get used on plenty of different vehicles, the pressure on the side of the tyre is just the maximum pressure the tire manufacturer thinks it's safe to use at.
The car manufacturer has done a ton of testing on your specific vehicle and knows what tire pressure works best with their suspension setup, whereas the tire manufacturer is just giving general safety guidelines that could apply to any vehicle.
>>
jesus christ dude just go to the gas station and pump them up yourself
>>
>>28799060
Jesus Christ man, no. No. You don't.
You go by the car's door jamb sticker because the car manufacturer knows what the car is supposed to weigh, the weight balance, whatever other random shit it relevant to the vehicle they made.

Michelin has no fucking clue if you're gonna buy a set of tires at a given size and put them on an old Miata or a tesla model 3.

What you do check on the tire is Max pressure. As long as whatever the vehicle you're putting said tires on isn't calling for more than the max pressure (or even kinda close imo, just get something different), you should be fine. Probably should make sure about weight range, but that's more in the catalog specs, and realistically doesn't come up unless you're messing with off-roading SUVs and trucks, or towing.

But OP drives a mitsubishi
>>
>>28799074
You buy the factory tyres? Jesus christ you anons are gay.

Nah, that tire guy is right.
39psi is very high and not the usual 32psi 99% of car tires call our for.
Especially for tires a small as the mirage's 165s.
You are Sperging about nothing anon.

Yeah still, these companies easily spend a billy developing some crossover shitbox

>>28799164
You're still supposed to use the recommended pressure in the door jamb without the OEM tire fitted. That's why they're in the door and not on the tire.
>>
you only go beyond 35 if you want the tires to behave really stiff and you don't go below 27 unless you're on AT/MTs

Run 165R13 on my truck. Run them at 25psi, which is lower than the min recommended.
Ride quality improved.

>You're still supposed to use the recommended pressure in the door jamb without the OEM tire fitted

yes but in this case the recommended pressure is unusually high in order to achieve a better EPA fuel economy rating and a lower pressure is perfectly fine

>these companies easily spend a billy developing some crossover shitbox
i can assure you absolutely no money was spent developing a single part of your vehicle as it was intended to be sold to indians

>go by what is written on the tyre
the pressure written on the tire is the maximum safe inflation pressure and should never be attempted
the pressures written on the door jamb are what the manufacturer had the vehicle federally tested with

fun fact: you can put whatever amount of air you want in a tire as long as it rolls freely and doesn't explode in your face
become ungovernable

i got tires that are ~10% larger than stock size and the door jamb was pretty close to what the tires wanted. look up the chalk test for tires and perform it. it shows the contact patch of the tire at whatever PSI you want. this is good to have the tire wear evenly
>Who is more of a faggot?
probably you for not bein able to fix tire pressure.
>>

Clarification: I did fill the tires properly at the gas station, after looking at the underinflated tire pressure.
