What other engines have the die hard reliable reputation of the Jeep 4.0L i6?

The 3.4L in the 90s 4runner and the 4.3L in the 90s Blazer can both do half a million miles. SUVs had their golden age during that era.

Ford 300 inline 6.

I can't wait for that one anon to start frothing at the anus because he doesn't like them.

>hard reliable reputation of the Jeep 4.0L i6.
Jeep fags are retarded
They claim the 4.0L is bulletproof.
But then list off a TON of HUGE repairs to their engines just to keep the engine alive.

Toyota 5L. In my country it isn't specifically an engine for 4x4 vehicles but a general Toyota engine that also happens to be in the Hilux

cooling system is inadequate on the xj's as they were never designed for the engine. when they get hot they drop the #6 skirt and make noise, but i havent seen one blow up unless they run it out of oil. the last one i rebuilt was a renix which wiped the cam lobes at 280k

>>28801275
fords 4.0 ohv belongs on that list but everything attached to it sucks ass. 4.3/sbc is one of my favourite engines
>>
>>28801365
Yup
Cracking heads and all that shit, the 4.0 was the worst engine ive owned

Volvo 4 cylinder from the 70's and 80's.
Mercedes diesel after they introduced turbo in the 70's.

I've had a couple of Ford 250's, they seem to get low compression and lose power at 230k km or 135k miles. I think the 300 is just a stronger version.

Ive wanted to 4.6 stroker swap a fsj or a half ton to see how it compares to the 300, but when I thnk you're building something it's easier to just have a 383 and be satisfied with more power

>>28801268
Unironically the BMW B58.
>>
>>28801678
The 4.0 of the modern age

You can froth my anus anytime, stud-muffin.

The 4.3 sucks ass.
>42% larger than the 3.0 Vulcan
>makes 11% more HP

>chevy 4.3L - 260 lb-ft torque
>ford 3.0L - 160 lb-ft torque
I'll take the chevy

The pre 07 GM 4.8/5.3/6.0's are in a completely different realm of abuse tolerance and reliability. Most of them live in work trucks that are still getting beat to death 20 years later. Think of all the Expresses they power and the abuse and neglect they receive. The fact that you can rip one out of a junkyard truck, stick a china turbo on it and make a reliable 700hp shows you how overbuilt they are. Why are there no high horsepower Jeep i6 builds?
