One of Florida's biggest racetracks has recently banned electric vehicles from racing on their drag strip. Reasons include>The battery may release toxic and flammable gas after a collision>First responders may not be able to confirm that the car is "off">The car poses electrocution hazardAmong others.
lol pwnt. I really don't know why EV's don't have an actually easily accessible physical battery kill switch like forklifts have.
>>28802716Cool. Now lets do hybrids next. I want to see cool cars at the track, not glorified Priuses.
>>28802716So pretty much similar reasons to why every strip requires a battery disconnect on the outside of the vehicle x100 because the battery of an EV is effectively napalm upon a hard enough collision. Pretty sure Tesla and Ford are the main offenders on the door unlock issue, I haven't heard complaints like that from other manufacturers but they don't make "performance" EVs like those two.
>>28802716They forgot to mention how boring they are for spectators.
>>28802718See that's what pisses me off they're so fucking behind and it's all because they're nothing more than ego boosters for retards!>hey let's make EV's better>um actually you'd be hecking dead so why do you even care? lol poor fag!I don't inherently hate EV as a concept but I despise what's currently out there it's crap.
>>28802716whiplash of seeing my local strip on /o/. there's another about 2 hours west in brooksville called lead foot city; I went to that one about a month ago and there was someone trying to drag race an ioniq 5 N there and went several times. it was pretty close with the other cars
>>28802716I get that, but wouldn't the same go for hybrids then? Why only bev's?
Let me guess, a Tesla was routinely walking supercars and every riced out shitbox that showed up and the drag strip had to ChatGPT some wall of text cope to safe face.
>>28802965Hybrid batteries are typically 40 to 50 times smaller than BEV batteries. The same problems exist, you are correct, but they're 40 to 50 times less severe.
>>28802718They literally do?
>>28803072Not always. The M5 still has 1200 fucking pounds of batteries in that pigfat piece of shit.
>>28803356That's because it's a PHEV. I agree if they're banning BEVs they should ban PHEVs for the same reason -- too much battery. But traditional hybrids and performance hybrids have much, much, much smaller batteries because the battery only serves as a temporary storage unit in between the two motors instead of as a long term energy storage to be charged externally.
>>28803107Tesla, not even once
Good. Let this spread to everything else too until these satanic abominations are pushed out of existence.
>>28803376I mean, I wouldn't buy a soulless electric transport pod that funds a delusional fascist manbaby anyways... But the doors thing is kind of important too.
>>28802716kek
>>28803107I was hoping I wouldn't have to explain what "easily accessible" meant. By easily accessible I mean not having to dig around inside of a mangled body to grab and pull out a potentially damaged cable live with 400+ volts DC that I have to then cut myself with the set of insulated bolt cutters I carry around with me.
>>28803376What a stupid fucking car for stupid people. This is like that old satire video demonstrating a Prius that kills it's owner.
>>28803546>thinks the cutoff cable has 400V going through itlook it up stupid it's a tiny cable that cuts off the solenoids>literately easy spot with rear tiny window, right under the panel>huge loop of cable
