Reminder lithium runs out, water is everywhere.

Apparently Japan uses a catalyst in specifically converted nuclear power stations, which has cut the cost of hydrogen there. I think hydrogen power has a place on the modern world. JCB in the UK is converting some of it's earth-moving line to hydrogen power. Ideal for working underground, etc.
>>
electic cars dont burn lithium retard
>>
>>28804300
japan imports most of its hydrogen from australia
their ulimate goal is indeginous production from sea water so they arent reliant on imported gas and coal
>>
>>28804325
Well, they will be reliant on nuclear fuel imports.
>>
>>28802980
>When did you finally realize the future is hydrogen?
The reason why Japan even indulges in the idea of using hydrogen is because China regularly fucks with energy prices by manipulating their consumption, especially petroleum. South Korea and Japan have diversified their energy infrastructure to insulate themselves from the big red communist asshole.
>>
>>28802980
Hydrogen is an absolute bitch to store and transport. Hybrids and EVs are the way if efficiency is your goal.

Hydrogen is a bit of a meme for cars. Could work for planes and boats, maybe.
Rheinmetall just discovered a new electrode that could make it more viable but I still don't see it winning against electricity.
>>
>>28802980
I've liked hydrogen back when you mention it here and all you get in response is a bunch of images of scientists. Hell I remember doing a report on why hydrogen would be the future of cars back in middle school. There was some really neat hydrogen concept I really liked. It looked like a race car. I think it might have been from one of the big three but I can't find it.
>>
>>28804341
You can still have electric, just don't have to deal with the bullshit that is a BEV. Instead you get five minute fill ups in your HEV.
>>
>>28804334
or maybe the "big red communist asshole" who the entire world wants to fall apart and pick away at the bones needs to take certain steps to ensure its own survival
>>
>>28804346
Assuming you find an hydrogen refuelling station, which are more difficult and expensive to build than EV chargers.
>>
>>28802980
lol
>>
>>28804346
for the way most people use their vehicle on a daily basis, is there really that much "bullshit" with a BEV?
>>
>>28804321
Then why do they keep burning down?
>>
The funniest thing about /o/ is how people unironically insist that EVs are a meme technology by hydrogen isn't.
>>
>>28802980
How pure does this water have to be? Cause we're at the cusp of having international water wars and data centers are already taking like 40-60% of the water supply of whatever towns/cities that are unfortunately hosting them.
>>
>>28804546
It's almost like /o/ is infested with Goyota shills or something. Ever notice how everyone recommends some Uber ass Corolla in recommendation threads?
>>
>>28804360
>>28804535
It wouldn't be that hard if it was the tech that had started to catch on. The behavior of finding a station would be what we are already used to. Instead people have to use some app to find a charger and hope they are not going to a culturally enriched location where they will be stuck for the next thirty minutes.
It doesn't matter though, tax breaks were given to bev producers and so now we are stuck with that terrible solution.
>>
>>28804695
is it possible BEVs got the tax credits because they didn't require as much brand new infrastructure? i think that might actually be it.
>>
>>28804701
Way off. Installing a hydrogen pump at gas stations is much cheaper than tens of thousands of chargers and then overhauling the US power grid to handle the load. There are not very many BEV appliances out there yet. Once everyone has one brownouts and blackouts will be a normal part of life.
>>
>>28804695
>t wouldn't be that hard if it was the tech that had started to catch on.
But it didn't because they are expensive to set up, while you can charge your BEV in your garage. Also hydrogen is expensive and polluting to create, transport and store compared to electricity.

Fuck hydrogen, based CARB era EVs like the EV1 and Honda EV Plus died for this meme fuel that hasn't materialized into anything remotely useable nearly 30 years later

At the end of the day, won't hydrogen-electric vehicles always be more inefficient than plain electric vehicles?
I understand people trying to make the case for hydrogen combustion engines in order to keep the "analog" feeling in, but why care if your car will be powered by electric motors anyway?
>>
>>28804723
No one tell him how much of the US electrical grid is powered by coal or the emissions just to create one battery pack.
>>28804726
Better goyota than a tesvestite. Toyota isn't the only company working on hydrogen, you would know this if you were not a troll.
>>
>>28804728
Efficiency could improve with research. However the main drawback of BEV is you're vehicle never loses weight. In a car this doesn't really matter, in other places BEV cancer is trying to spread, it does. The weight loss from fuel burn is factored into flights. If your fuel never loses weight but instead becomes a burden you not only lose cargo capacity, you waste more energy carrying around weight you get nothing out of.
>>
>>28804783
Toyota is the only company actively shilling this dead end ass fuel. It's going nowhere. The infrastructure has flopped wherever built.

>>28804786
If weight is your biggest concern, then you should never buy a new car and just stick to old cars with a small ass engine and four wheels barely duct taped together. A car is not a commercial airliner. The weight is hardly the primary issue with BEV but the fact that their entry cost is still higher than comparable ICE. That is slowly changing though.

You need energy anyway to generate hydrogen, then transport and store it.
Even a dirty grid makes EVs more sustainable due to how efficient they are.
>>
So much unwarranted FUD against EVs. I'm deathly tired of the corrupt petrol industry and equally tired of slimy mechanics who will replace a small $50 part for $1000. Let cars become completely independent vehicles. Use solar, charge your car. Complete freedom and independence.

What makes you think hydrogen ICE's would ever be a thing? It would make way the fuck more sense to use it in a fuel cell to keep a battery pack topped up vs using it to fuel an extremely inefficient engine.
