Anyone order thru UpGarage before? Wanting to swap wheels and there are lots of cool options for a good price surface shipped to Canada. Are the distortion/crack/wheel unbalance declarations reliable?
Example: about $1050 shipped to me for some sweet lightweight bbs

>>28803831>Anyone order thru UpGarage before?yes, all the time- atleast from Japan directly.>Are the distortion/crack/wheel unbalance declarations reliable?Usually they declare major damage of any notable concern and grade it by the A-D quality system. But do understand that UpGarage sell used goods meant for other enthusiasts- they expect you to restore the products they sell as they are rare. Last I ordered from them were expensive, three-piece luxury wheels that needed some repair. I got a great deal on that rare set that I later sold for twice the original price when I got tired of it.
>>28803842I just don't want any structural damage. My car is city driven and often street parked so cosmetic stuff like curb rash or painting peeling is less of a concern for me.
>>28803849>I just don't want any structural damage. They label major failure of the products as marked "junk". They make it known to you- they wont outright try to scam you like in Western nations, or China. If you are apprehensive, I would do some more research and lookup local importers to you. That way, you could physically inspect the wheels yourself. Though the price might reflect this ease of access.>stuff like curb rash or painting peeling is less of a concern for me.either you're an enthusiast or not. Get the wheels rebuilt or reshaped if they are not to expectation. Especially important for long discontinued models.
whats up garage
>>28803866Damn, that looks great. Is that an E38?Plan would be to run whatever I end up with for a season. If I like them enough I'll get them refinished next winter. Bought the car with Gramlights but want to mix it up
>>28803868>Plan would be to run whatever I end up withif you were serious, you could skip UpGarage altogether and just search deep enough in Canada eBay. You can still get the same type of used wheels, with the eBay guarantee. It just costs more.
I've shipped wheels for less than what they quote through up garage using buyee/fromjapan. Wheels with tires on them will rape you since they will have to be shipped in four separate boxes, but if you can get them to ship 2 wheels per box it's quite affordable.
>>28803965I get my wheels off yahoo auctions also
>>28803831I prefer YJA, but have used UpGarage. Japanese vendors are very honest, no problems with their descriptions ever.
>>28803831yeah, I buy from them sometimes. They just sort of aggregate junk they get from tuner shops/mechanics and sell it for cheap (example: when I get rid of my exhaust and install a different one, the old one gets sold to upgarage and goes up for auction/on their site)Generally the listing grades are accurate and reliable. I literally bought those exact wheels from yahoo auctions and they arrived fine (basically just protected by cardboard and bundled 2 wheels per package). I recommend buying this way vs paying inflated ebay prices unless you want something brand new in box. If you can live with dings & scratches or less than perfect stuff they're not bad.
actually found photos of them in their packaging from back in the day.
after unboxing (threw out the tires, because buyee wouldn't do it for me to save on shipping costs)
Maybe I should visit one since I live in Japan. Anything above 2 star rating seems serviceable. Hell I found a pretty good hood on there with what you’d expect from regular use and they rated it a 1.
>>28804413Sucks you had to pay extra for shipping but having (the component iI want) wrapped in massive amounts of rubber during global shipping isnt such a bad tradeoff.
>>28803872The price difference for the same wheels is pretty crazy, like $1000+.>>28803965I'll be getting wheels only, shipping is ~$350cad to me.>>28804407Sweet, good to know. I definitely don't want brand new as they will get scratched up by me eventually anyway. Also a lot of the wheels I'd be interested in are long discontinued anyway. Trying to go for period-correct on my 2006 Subaru.>>28804411>>28804413Oh nice this is good to see, thanks anon! Upgarage charges a 35¥ fee to remove tires.>>28804483Ya I wish I had done this when I lived in Suzuka. Oh well
