why is motorcycle reaching 50k miles considered ultra reliable but a car that dies at 100k miles considered super unreliable?
>>
Someone with an engineering degree will probaby give you a real answer, but I can offer a swag that less stress per unit of power and way more thermal mass are going to be 2 big reasons.

the engines can usually carry on for over 100k it's the frame that rots on bikes.

American and Japanese yes, Euro-pasta fuck no besides a tiny tiny handful of exceptions.

Boomer superstition.
But it keeps the used market in line. So we all perpetuate the superstition.

>cars rev up to 7k
>100k miles is good

>bikes rev up to 14k
>50k is good

It's really that shrimple
You can easily expect 100k miles from a Yamaha CP2 because it revs up to 9k, not 15k.

Nromies who ride bikes are fucking retarded.
Name a brand of Japanese bike and the engine will last 150,000km before it needs piston rings then it will do another 150,000km, normies buy them and think they are fucked after 20,000km and this is a good thing and 100% the reason why bikes are so cheap and now is the best time in history to be a motorcycle enthusiast.
Normies are so retarded that they barely run a bike engine in then sell it.
Let them keep doing it.

Its a matter of scale. Its simply because rhey are smaller.
The smaller the engine, the harder it has to work, so the quicker it dies.
>>
>>28804086
Dunno why.
I have a gsxr-1000 k3 bought it at 20000 km, now its has 65000km and runs practically the same. I do have it in the living room with heated floors thoughverbeit.

And ofcourse i do lots of oil+filter changes and airfilter changes.

And i 2 times i replaced the clutchplates

Another unexpert opinion

>>28804189
Hard to expect more from a bike designed by BMW and built by Russians in a shed.
>>
>>28804093
Nein.
>>
>>28804086
There are lots of bimmers, Honders and Suzukis with way too many miles on them.
>>
Because 80% of riders -ack themselves before reaching 50k miles.
