Are pre-purchase inspections a meme? How would getting one even work logistically for a desirable car that will be off the market in a week or two?

It's not like they're going to pull all the spark plugs and scope all the cylinders or do a compression test or pull the tranny pan to check the magnet for metal debris. The rest of the inspection is just checking for leaks, excessive rust or excessive play in components which you can check yourself.
