Are they based, big teste'd machinea that you put blood, sweat and tears into or cringe and poor tryhard shitboxes that embarrass the original?
>>28806142Ironically many kit cars are superior to the originals.Pic very related
the high end ones are as exotic and expensive as any supercar
they have ever benefit of the originals/classics with all the upside of modern metallurgy, engineering and parts supply. if you can afford it, there is genuinely no reason not to get one.peak is to get one of those restomods that do not touch the exterior and interior design but completely overhaul the internals.
For me, it's
>>28806142Both actually. Some are gigabased well engineered cars, some are garbage hackjobs.
>>28806156I’m planning a factory five cobra since they seem so damn good now. 60-70k for hell of a car isn’t even that bad.
>>28806142Kit cars range from being brilliant to being absolute POS.
>>28806142>Are they based, big teste'd machinea that you put blood, sweat and tears into or cringe and poor tryhard shitboxes that embarrass the original? They can be either or any point in-between.
>>28806142I like the ones that stay true to the original, minimal restomod BS, even if that makes extremely unpractical. GT40s should only be RHD, with the shifter in the sill. Modern tire and brake compounds are enough.
>>28806142I want a Lotus 7 kit car so badly, it's a genuine life goal of mine.I don't know what flavour I'd go with because Caterham is ridiculously expensive here in Australia and I want to do a fair bit of the work myself. The "only" thing stopping me is not having a garage, any time, or enough money.
>>28806142I love how everybody here is constantly bitching about cars being too heavy, complex and expensive yet everybody completely ignores kit cars.
>>28806142There is a reason people sell them after 500 miles.
>>28806407It's because most of them can't change a tire let alone build a car.
>>28806178Another great example of where the kit car is superior to the original.
