No idea about the TV show thing, but the BL thing is about right. They have a reputation for being one of the worst cars ever built, thanks to them being built around the time that BL was imploding on itself. They're also the single most scrapped car in the UK. Over a million were made, yet only 400 or 500 survive on the road today. I just really like the way they look, and thanks to them using the ancient BMC engines, they're surprisingly reliable. My dad always defends them as he's had a few over the years, the worst of which being a van that he abused for a time, and yet refused to die.

Bugeye Corolla. Late 90's/early 2000's EU version, before the facelift. It's a Corolla, it drives like a Corolla and it is about as interesting as Corolla. I just like how they look and how easy 90's cars are to work on in general.

I really fuck with the 93-96 fleetwood broughams. They're just impala SS's in a comfy suit, very quiet, very simple in construction, surprisingly quick if it's got the C4 vette LT1 engine.

I always thought they were cute too, same with the Geo Metro.
Maybe it's nostalgia for me, but I'll always have a soft spot for that era of economy cars and their looks.
Most cars today have the same face as a pickup truck or SUV in a sedan-sized package, and it just looks ugly and awkward.
>>
>>28823592
>Geo Metro
People laughed at it because it made people look poor, but the people that owned them loved it, either because they could mercilessly thrash it and not care, or that it was so ridiculously cheap to run that it got them through hard times. Not uncommon for owners to hit 50mpg in one. The damn thing was cheaper than a bicycle at shartmart for a few years too.

A small, cheap, frugal car has its purpose and it changes hands among those who need it. When you don't, you'll appreciate that it was there.

Try that with a SUV or a truck and the damn thing will keep you poor forever.

I don't see the Geo Metro on the road anymore, and I assume it's because of the fact they were well loved and well used throughout its lifetime.
It was a cheap car and a safety hazard, but if you have one that works to this day it was very reliable.
