What's with the Japanese obsession with hydrogen?
Not alot considering the bongs did it first
>>28823588We dropped the idea on them two times and it just kinda stuck since
Dependence on imported oil and imported battery materials, also note that Toyota is run by chud nationalists (the kind that likes America though)
theyre unironically right. hydrogen is icky to westerners because of hydrogen bombs, BEVs also have a billion dollar industry propping them up so its easier to get evil corporations on board like with traditional ICE. if the world was logical instead of profit driven we would be switching to hydrogen cars instead of BEVs.
>>28823588It's a fuel they can produce domestically, unlike petrol or batteries. Smart idea in case of a war or trade embargos.
>>28823588They're really good at making ICE cars and they don't want that industry to wither away.
Because they understand hydrogen is the best alternative going forward as abolishing ICE continues. Too bad the rest of the world will shoot you for even thinking about owning a water powered car.
>one brand makes hydrogen cars>that brands makes a whooping 1 hydrogen car with maybe 2 more in the future out of their lineup of over 15 cars>somehow this is an obsessionHow much is big gas paying you to make these posts?
>>28823588Hydrogen is the rotary of power sources. In theory, beautifully elegant, simple and optimized. In practice, all the supporting technology you need for it will make your life hell, your car as heavy as the traditional alternative, and it itself- a grenade, in hydrogen's case- literally so.
>>28823974okay but how about a hydrogen powered wankel

>>28823974Great post, if people think EV fires are bad, wait till they see hydrogen (under pressure) fires.
>>28824103>>28824020wankels are uniquely suited to various fuel types. The problem with hydrogen is the support structure. But in theory it offers the same driving experience as gasoline. Maybe hydrogen fuel cells will someday solve all the world's problems.

>>28827920>The first reason is to retain the engine and transmission we've developed so far.The Toyota Mirai is an electric car, though. The fuel cell and hydrogen tank replace the battery.
>>28828018They still have a battery, the fuel cell charges it.
>>28828015Wrong. The word "Jew" never existed in the bible. It wasn't added until three hundred years ago in an masonic funded english bible. cope and seethe you ignorant fool
>>28828459"Jew" was considered a pleb term. The proper terms were "Hebrew", "Israelite", or variations thereof. A Bible using "Jew" was, more than likely, an attempt to make it more readable by semi-literate poorfags.
>>28824103how do you premix in this one?
>>28828018not just that, hydrogen is produced using electricityto then be turned back into electricity in the car itself
>>28828907Of course the electricity used to produce the hydrogen is 99% generated with fossil fuel because nuclear is bad.
>>28828917>>28828907>hydrogen is produced using electricityMost hydrogen is produced from natural gas.

>>28823595neither of those were hydrogen bombs, they were just basic fission bombs
>>28829394not nuclear bombs, bombs in generalthey got so good at ice because they were fascinated by explosions, and now they decided to graduate from tiny controlled explosions inside combustion chambers to proper high-ex bombs on wheels
>>28829434>>28829394>>28828923Nuclear hydrogen production involves using nuclear energy to generate hydrogen through various methods, offering a clean and efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based hydrogen production.Nuclear hydrogen production is a strategic pathway to a carbon-neutral hydrogen economy, providing scalable, baseload, low-carbon hydrogen suitable for heavy industry, energy storage, transportation, and chemical feedstock. Advanced reactor technologies and high-temperature processes (HTSE/S-I cycle) represent the frontier for cost-efficient and efficient large-scale hydrogen production poised for commercialization in the next 20–30 years.
>>28829394From Fission, we learned Fusion.
>>28823588Japan wants to be zero emissions. Hydrogen doesn't emit carbon.
>>28829687It emits DHMO which is connected to a slew of health problems.

>>28829394When I grow up, I wanna be just like me dummy wummy.
>>28823588Hydrogen is the ultimate renewable energy storage system. Anything that creates energy can be used to create hydrogen from water, and when it combusts that reaction creates water. The problem is the energy density of hydrogen makes it extremely dangerous to store. Boomers heard hydrogen fuel cells being talked about their entire lifetimes and we will probably hear the same and it will never come to fruition
>>28830250>The problem is the energy density of hydrogen makes it extremely dangerous to store. That's correct. The reason hydrogen stations haven't caught on in Japan is that the initial costs and maintenance expenses are too high.Particularly with current technology, the monthly electricity bills seem to be quite substantial, leading some to argue that installing EV charging stations would be a better option.
>>28830273>wahhh rich peeepo need 2 spend money for a sustainable and economical powerhouse of an energy>hurr durr I can't justify spending money! Then I will have less of it!!>Would literally pay for itself in time>Hydrogen allows ICE cars to be converted to it, while still having gasoline properties such as filling the tank, performance, and sound. Hydrogen is God's energy
>>28830389>while still having gasoline properties such as filling the tankAre you talking about liquid hydrogen or simple pressurized hydrogen? Because neither is fuelled like gasoline. With pressure for instance it depends on how full your tank was when reaching the gas stand.Even LNG or LPG aren't comparable.
>>28830421It's like gas as in, you don't need to cuck out for hours at a charging plug. You just hook the filler, lock it, then pump till complete. The only residue is water. No need to waste rare materials on batteries when we can put those elsewhere. Hydrogen only fucks over the rich, it's a net good for everyone else.
>>28830434What rare materials are used in LFP batteries? The charging tech has improved a lot more in recent years than hydrogen distribution has. People can charge everywhere whenever they leave their vehicle and charging power has grown to hundreds of kW.>The only residue is water. With fuel cells. Hydrogen combustion engines with still produce NOx and the like.
>>28830465Cobalt. You have a very weird position, it's like you're trying to shill evs. Pathetic.
>>28830587Are you confusing LFP and LNMC?
>>28830465But produce tiny bit NOx
>>28823588China controls a large part of the battery market, giving them control over your car industry is a strategic blunder. Also a lot of power in Japan is produced by burning oil, so even grey hydrogen is still attractive as a non-polluting fuel at the point of delivery.
>>28831392Worst Korea also produces a large amount of batteries. Nips and gooks joining forces could create an economic actor strong enough to loosen zhang stranglehold on the battery supply. Unfortunately, Nippon is ruled by a bunch of retarded boomers, who refuse to engage in any sort of meaningful cooperation with any other SEA country.
>>28832209Japan and South Korea hates each others guts for historical reasons.
>>28832225 >historical reasons.Which are a) minor (gooks were used as slave laborers, and nips dipped their wicks into gookettes; compare/contrast to Unit 731 and "blade dulling contests" in China); b) irrelevant to the average younger (<40) nip/gook slanty, only being used as red meat for the boomers who constitute the most disciplined voting bloc in either country. It's just plain garden-variety retardation.

I figured out a way to make hydrogen fuel a lot more practical. You just wrangle that little hydrogen atom and pair it with a carbon atom. Now you can store it at atmospheric pressure at room temperature.

>>28837292uranium gem

>>28837334Now added purple hydrogen (plasma-nuclear h2), bronze hydrogen (biomass), orange hydrogen (produced through artificial geological processes involving iron and water), and gold/white hydrogen (natural resource)

>>28827840Funny enough those reactors popped do to hydrogen build up. They lets those reactors fail due being unable to communicate with the hivemind.
>>28823588As others have stated, its a fuel source that the Nipponese theoretically have an abundance of, and won't tax their grids in the same way that everyone switching over to to BEVs and won't stress about if things go to shit with either China and/or North Korea. Even with the nuclear plants, they're still dependent on foreign imports of nuclear material to make the fuel rods to power the things. The main issues with hydrogen from what I recall is that its insanely energy intensive to refine and difficult to transport and store, which in turn makes it significantly more expensive to produce as a whole.
