99.99% of the time it's fine.
It's the 0.01% that'll get you.
>>
the car doesn't care if the brake is pressed with the right or left foot
>>
get on my level; I push the brake pedal with my hands. git gud.
>>
>>28825423
i learned to drive with my left foot always hovering over the brake and my right foot always hovering over the gas. i've never suffered from this once.
>>

? How's it gonna get you?
>>

Left foot braking is faster around a track.
Simple as.
My right leg is all messed up from off road injuries so my left foot works a lot better

if i'm on the highway and it's a while, sometimes I'll let my left foot rest on the little footrest, but 99% of the time i'm hovering over the pedals with both feet over their respective pedal. i have total control of the machine.

I use left foot braking in sim and it just feels natural desu

Left foot brake is how they train police and highway patrol all across the country.
Do you think your brain will get confused as to what pedal your right foot is on?
Do your hands accidentally turn the wheel the wrong direction because you had it gripped at the bottom instead of the top?
What about motorcycles? The standard setup is that each foot/hand controls a separate component- the right hand even controls throttle AND front brake. Like what kind of crazy shit is that?!?!
And did you know that on a dirt bike you can dig the front tire into a turn and take it at a higher speed by using the front brake AND throttle AT THE SAME TIME?!

I only do that when I am also heel toeing. Its unnecessary otherwise.
>>
lmao at all the automatic drivers itt
>>
>>28825708
Yes.
The car doesn't know what I wanna do next. It only knows after I press the throttle down. An automatic can only react to my inputs. In a manual I can shift before moments before I need the extra power.
>>
>>28825724
>What is manual mode
>Formula and gt3 cars are all automatics
lmao
>>
>>28825423
It's not a very useful skill but still good to know and practice every now and then. The only real world application for it would be getting started on a hill or trail braking which you probably aren't doing in the city. Not every professional racing driver left foot brakes.
>>
>>28825423
So you're the car in front of me that keeps flashing their brake lights for no reason

le heel toe downshifting and right foot braking are the dumbest things for boyracers and wannabe smartguys

it's dangerous because in an emergency situation you will floor the gas pedal instead of braking.
happened to me in a video game
>>

Just don't rest your foot on the brake pedal. Are you guys rertarded? If you think this happens, then you guys probably also rest the foot on the gas pedal at a red traffic light revving like a fool.
>>28826119
git gud

Id there anything more annoying than seeing some guy's brake lights on on the freeway because he's resting his left foot on the brake pedal?

>>28826318
for cornering you can left foot brake in manuals too. I see you can't take corners fast
>>
>>28826323
pro tip. you don't brake through corners. you brake on the approach and roll through the corner. your tyres can't handle braking and cornering at extreme levels.
>>
>>28826326
>your tyres can't handle braking and cornering at extreme levels.
>at extreme levels
i didn't say to turn hard and brake hard at the same time
When you brake gently during mid corner the weight of the car shifts forward so that your front tires grip harder.
>>
>>28826331
>When you brake gently
you don't win races by braking gently
>>
>>28826326
Protip: it's called trail braking. But first you have to get into the right gear. Which requires a clutch
>>
>>28826353
I assumed the vehicle in question was a car in which case trail braking is impossible because of that 60/40 front brake bias, but ok.
>>
>>28826353
>trail braking requires a clutch
lmao. i trail brake all day on my scoot. come at me.
>>
>>28826332

lmao
>>
>>28826361
>if you brake hard while cornering then you won't make the corner
that's exactly why i mention braking on the approach. you do NOT brake at the apex (unless you want to understeer).
>>
>>28826326
Yep, he can't take corners fast lol

my nigga
>brake hard on corner entry

Do you treat the brake like an on off switch?
>>
>>28826366
wait I worded that poorly. With slightly get off the brakes i mean you slowly get off the brakes until you are fully off the brakes
>>
>>28826366
>Do you treat the brake like an on off switch?
idk really. sometimes i modulate but mostly yea. i smash that brake pedal like i'm trying to push it through the firewall.
>>
>>28826369
nah, i'm either braking or i'm not braking.
the brake pedal serves one purpose and that's to slow me down which is something i'm reluctant to do when i'm trying to go fast.
>>
>>28826373
Anon, I am disappointed.

See the boomer part
>>
>>28826394
you say that left foot braking in a manual is useless because you first have to get in the right gear.
And what about the corners that don't require shifting? You can left foot brake just fine there.
Do you understand my comment now?

Do electric cars light the brake lights when regeneratively braking?
>>
>>28826487
Do you really think that retards who drive with both feet never rest their left foot on the brake pedal?
>>
>>28826353
Most autos these days let you change gears. GT3 race cars cars are basically autos and dont use the clutch except for starting the car, and to be fast in one of those cars you need to trail brake and use left foot braking
>>
>>28826504
According to this mentality you would be at WOT constantly because you couldnt keep your right foot at the correct position on the accelerator.
>>
>>28827829
what the fuck are you talking about?
have you never seen a fucking senile fuck in a marquis driving with their brake lights on all the time?
"people" who use their left foot to brake during regular driving are almost always resting their foot on the brake pedal, triggering their brake lights to be always on.
its either that or there are a LOT of cars out there with faulty brake light switches, primarily driven by old geezers.

>drive shitbox
>throttle response is meh
>use left foot to brake and right to launch from a red light to compensate
I think that's really the only reason I'd left foot brake. I've figured out how to rev match and modulate the brake on the automatic so I rarely rev match with both feet anymore.
>>
I used to left foot brake on my old automatic Chevys and Fords so I could load up the converter to get a more sprightly launch, but when I tried it on my mums 2013 Jazz/Fit the computer would block any power. Only have manuals now, so I almost never use the left foot on the brake, just twist my right foot to use gas and brake together.

>or there are a LOT of cars out there with faulty brake light switches,
Yes.
Modern design is a "fail on". Accords for example are notorious for a plastic stop on the pedal crumbling and the switch automatically stays in the "on" mode.
But youre a nowrench basement dweller so are unaware of that simple fact and you live in a democrat ran meteopolis shithole surrounded by third world browns who think car maintenance is limited to changing tires when the belts start to show.
>>
>>28825423
In my open wheel car the pedal box is designed such that the brake is easy to use with either foot. I drive almost exclusively with left foot braking like a go kart. The clutch is only really needed to get rolling, since the gearbox is a dog box whenever there is no engine pressure it just pops into gear.
