hoon to make new bigger truggur thoughts?
>>28825829>ur thoughts?Kia literally has a special vehicles division in Korea that makes nothing but trucks.
>>28825829>Make a Bigger TruckSad. They're gonna enter an already crowded market of $80,000 pavement princesses that no one can afford and no one needs. The beds will hardly be used. At this point they're minivans with an open air trunk.I wish Hyundai would delete the cab and stretch the bed a bit. Unless I'm mistaken, no one sells a pickup without a crew cab these days. Most people drive alone, I want that space to keep equipment and materials. It's a work truck, not a lifestyle.Anyway, thanks for reading my gay blog. I'm actually unemployed and take the bus.
>>28825907the tasman is nowhere near 80k
>>28825996>the tasman is nowhere near 80kAre you referring to mileage?Yeah, kias don't last as long as other cars.
>>28825907is your dream job a car dealership commisar that reviews truck purchase applications?
>>28826003the tasman sells for the equivalent of about 32-55k US dollarsalthough its unclear if this will be based on the tasman, or a joint venture with GM
>>28826013Kek, I'd get fired for rejecting everyone unless their occupation was explicitly in the trades and even then I'd likely advise them to get a minivan and tell them to just drop down the rear and middle seats.>It says here that you work at 'The Target' department store as a managerUh, y-yea I got promoted last year and I got a raise so I thought the payments would be manag->Curious, you are applying to purchase a pickup truck but your occupation requires little need for itHuh? B-but I like pick-ups and it has apple carplay->DENIED!
>>28825829outsold by its competition: ford maverick, 5 to 1 roughly. i dont think going bigger and competing with the f150 (or whatever they choose) would work.
>>28825907>80.000 Pavement princesses that no one can afford and no one needs. The beds will hardly be used. At this point they're minivans with an open air trunk.Lets be honest the santa cruz is just a smaller, cheaper version of those
>>28825829Same problem with every south Korean car, over-promise, deliver an unreliable shit box, then cancel despite immense promise. The size of the truck isn't the problem as proven with the Ford maverick, it was that no one was wiling to spend more than a maverick for a car with notorious transmission issues. I guarantee that the truck that will replace this will suffer the same fate
>>28825829Not surprised. I've seen like maybe ten of these things on the road ever. Also it's ugly as shit. It looks like a 2015 Santa Fe that was put in the microwave and molded into the shape of a truck.
>>28826118Hyundai did absolutly nothing to advertise for it because they made the mistake of releasing it so close to Ford's offering. Ford ended up completly taking over a new market segment and becoming the de-facto work fleet vehicle, while the santa cruz just became lot rot
>>28826110I think the bigger issue was the shitty base engine and then charging like 5k to get into the turbo.
>>28825907>minivans with an open air trunk
>>28825829Kind of a shame. If they'd kept the whole rest of the truck, but put a non-Korean engine in it, it would be a great light duty truck for most people. As it stands, its reliability is its biggest issue, and making the truck bigger isn't gonna change that.
>>28826013>a car dealership commisar that reviews truck purchase applications? Is this a real job?
>>28826109It's not cheaperYou can get new half and quarter ton trucks for less than it new.
>>28826027>>28826511Commies can't slow me down!
These things are pointless if they don't have a hybrid option. If it's going to be smaller and economical, it needs to be economical and NOT a turbo.
>>28827141batteries don't really do a whole lot if you don't charge them externally if you drive mostly on the highway and live in a rural area and go off roading and driving in the mountainsagreed, some sort of 48v mild hybrid setup would be nice, but it definitely needs a turbo, it just doesn't need to be 300 hp and go 0-60 in 6 seconds and be 5k extra, when the base engine is way too slow, it's a weird set of extremes, they need a light pressure turbo, or a 2.0Tbut, really, for a TRUGG, an NA v6 makes the most sense
>>28827111>Is this a real job?Yeah, it's called the repo man. He even gets a truck to take away trucks from those who the bank deems is unworthy of one.
>>28827166They do quite a bit in my maverick not plugged in, they are charged at nearly all times by the gas engine just as a function of the engine running. Most of the time when I'm off-road it's in electric mode because I'm driving slower. The electric torque makes it not feel like it needs a v6.Even on the highway it does pretty good, you can cruise control at 70mph for 10min then glide for 2-3min at 60mph with the engine off over and over.
>>28827111Money isn't free, neither are trucks. You need to prove you can afford a truck before any right minded individual will give you one.
>>28827203the maverick interior is horrendous and I pity those swindled into its purchasethe ford escape is a cheap rental car platform that they have put the minimum of effort into updating it is well overdue for a full redesign>they are charged at nearly all times by the gas engine just as a function of the engine runningI mean that's still a parasitic loss, it's not fucking free energy
>>28825829hoon
>>28826027>>28826013This would be great if we also shat all over infinite CAFE forced 'improvements" and banned most of the tech 'advancements' of the last 15 years. No active cruise control, no lane assist, no auto breaking, nothing that enables automatic tailgating. And forcibly lock down the size and mass of trucks and SUVs and minivans to what they were in 2010, id prefer 1999, but 2010 will do. No more lifts from the factory or the lot. Lock down CUVs and cars size and mass to what they were in 2016. Cut out all that bullshit, forcibly restrain the size and weight, set static MPG requirements related to class and 2wd/4wd/awd status and let manufactures improve from there. And do something to encourage front bench seats again. Chargers and Challengers and Kia Niros would be fucking amazing as six seaters.
>>28825829>people buy santa cruz because it's a small truck>discontinue because you want to make a big truck>nobody buys hyundai because why would you when toyota is right there
>>28826027lmao
>>28825829MUH DRUGGGGGGG
>>28827685>people buy santa cruz because it's a small truckthe problem is people aren't buying it. >nobody buys hyundai because why would you when toyota is right there"right there" and also $42k to get a no-options SR5 with 4wd. a 4wd tasman is 34k equivalent which would make an interesting proposition being nearly 10k cheaper than a tacoma and 5k cheaper than a ranger or colorado
>>28825829I thought about getting one of these because I just want an affordable vehicle that can tow 3k lbs without shitting itself. That's it. I just want to tow a side by side occasionally. I passed on this because reliability concerns.
>>28825829fuck yeah, the one thing the world needs more of is xboxhueg truggs
>>28828183I think a lot of men are addicted to the masculinity image of truggs, and also the ability to tail/stalk people in large wide menacing vehicles. I've experienced the most dangerous following behavior from trucks behind me who weren't willing to maintain a safe distance until I could let them pass.
